Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
There are not many names to make a case for the award. It is rare when a team goes through an entire season and you can't think of a single player that stands out enough to be deserving of the award.
Under the circumstances (because they have been so unplesant) I'm going to give a vote to Jason Campbell maybe more so for his courage than his play. My second vote would have to go to Fred Davis. He was inserted into the starting lineup later in the season as a result of injury but his play has been worthy of note and his numbers impressive. Mods: You can incooperate more names someone may feel worthy and make this a poll....What do you think, and who do you feel worthy. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I like your choices.
For me, I have to go Cooley, even though he's been hurt. For some time we had no offense aside from Cooley. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Tempted to say Hunter Smith or, more seriously, Sherm Lewis

Sherm Lewis would be tempting wouldn't he? Only problem is he's not a player, if he were he'd get a vote from me as well. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Offensive MVP-Entire O-Line
They provided all pro protection to JC all season long. Defensive MVP-Laron Landry All pro safety who is a true safety, doesnt get burned deep and never lets anyone behind him. Never misses a tackle. Special Teams-Randel El Rarley fair catches the ball and has provided good field position for the offense. He rarely runs east to west, most of the time he is getting positive yards. LOL |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I went with Fred Davis. Can we add an option to "None of the above bums." If so, change my vote to that.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
The one constant has been JC, gotta go with him.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Campbell Or Davis....
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
It's interesting that at the beginning of the season the DC Sports Reporters picked Cooley as OMVP and Haynesworth as DMVP. When it comes to the defense there could be more clear-cut choices. Our offense has been so bad it makes it difficult.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
JC for not giving up while getting crushed physically, emotionally, and mentally. And seemingly improving during the process.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
They really don't have one but if i have to pick i say Fred Davis...he is the only player on the offense that you could actually say has been a stud even if its only been for half a season.

yup... |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
LaRon Landry, hes helped many offenses.
|

When I read the title I thought of Sherm Lewis also. |

Perfectly put. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
not sure if anyone on the team qualifies. i guess Campbell?
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I said Fred Davis. The guy came out of nowhere and got it done. Especially after his first debut where his blocking was absolutely horrid, after that we never heard about his terrible blocking, meaning he must've improved. Guy was ridiculously hard to bring down after the catch, it was like he was a bigger Cooley. I can see him being like a big Antonio Gates in his prime, in the future.
Devin Thomas comes in a close second place, seeing as he made huge strides this season. But not quite MVP worthy. But he did prove he's good enough to grab a #1 receiver spot. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I voted Cooley cuz he's the only offensive player that didn't really piss me off this year.
In reality Sherm Lewis is the only viable choice, maybe Davis. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
If Cooley or Davis had each played a whole season, they'd be an easy choice for the award. In the absence of the ability to vote for REDSKINS TE, the obvious choice is Jason Campbell.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I'm rolling with Fred Davis. If you're not playing, then you simply don't qualify. Awards aren't given based on what might have happened, but what did happen. And seeing that the Redskins have only won 4 games, how many of those did Cooley help us win?
I think JC's recent success and Davis' are definitely related. Fact is, Davis knows what to without the ball as well as with the ball. He's running good routes, creating mismatches, and capitalizing after each catch. This is the argument some here were making against Roy Williams; If you ain't open homie, you ain't getting the ball. But I digress. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I'm sure we will all be anxiously waiting to see just who the team names for the award. I can't possibly see them naming anyone who has not been mentioned here. Slim pickins this year, let's just hope that next year we get some performances from players on the offensive side of the ball that will makes the selection process more difficult.

Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Good for JC pulling a strong showing...
I really hope Shanny sees the value in him and does not waste the first pick with a QB but probably not sigh |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
LaRon Landry, hes helped many offenses.
ahahahaha seriously, just got to pump fake once to throw him off and then you've got some one wide open |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Now that I think about it, it might be Zorn.....He single handedly sucked so bad we are finally got rid of Cerrato and have picked up a real GM and due to his diligence and "execution" we will actually have a new HC and staff next season. :)
Zorn for MVP. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
JC of course. It is almost a no brainer with this poll. Davis is a close second though.

Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
no one the offense sucks and they don't deserve a reward
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Campbell has put up with a lot beginining in the offseason and the reports swirling about his playing time and future, and then in the season when he was working behind a make shift offensive line. The guy has heart and he has class.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Jason Campbell. One must respect his fortitude amidst the folly of this offense and this season.
|
no one the offense sucks and they don't deserve a reward
Because the defense is better, somehow.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Have to pick JC because he has played every game behind the worst O-line in the NFL.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I'd go w/ Fred Davis for lack of a better alternative. I think you could say he's the one that has stood out in this putrid season.
|
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
This poll is cursed, right after JC got voted for, he's had two really shitty games lol

I just knew somebody was going to say that after last nights' performance, but remember once again it was not all Campbells' fault. I would refuse to come out of the huddle behind his offensive line. Just when we heap a little praise on them, they turn in whatever that was last night. Lets just repair, rejuvenate and rejoice in the fact this miserable season is one game away from climax. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
Its never JC's fault. Maybe we can blame his mom for his poor play. He almost even got me fooled a few weeks back after he showed a little sign of playing better but thats what he always does. He plays a few good games and then just take a big old dump. To think our O is playing so bad people actually voted for him as MVP is one big laugh. I think the vote should be any other QB thats not JC. Hell I'd help pay for a fire JC sign on a truck.

as funny as i think that statement is, don't give mmlpert or whatever his name is any ideas. seriously, i don't know how anyone could consider Campbell our teams offensive MVP. a more compelling argument could be made for him to be our LEAST valueable player. He showed some promise a few weeks ago, but he's simply too inconsistent to be awarded anything. he has no future here or anywhere else. |

Well then TC would retire(under duress) and Colt would come back, and the sign would be considered a success ;) |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
lol @ all of the people voting JC because of what he's been through
I feel bad for the guy but that doesn't mean that a person deserves the MVP. I guess it'd end up being him though, nobody else has had near the same playing time. |
Re: Who Is Our 2009 Offensive MVP?
I was just checking out Jason Reid's Redskins Insider blog and he's posted the exact same thread title and poll. Four names emerge from the WashPost poll that does not apear here.
Derrick Dockery Santana Moss Casey Rabach Mike Sellers Believe it or not, Jason Campbell is leading that poll also at 52% |
