Which New York job is that? |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I see him in Tampa or possibly Car if Fox is gone..
|

He is from Carolina and has already shown interest in that job. Fox was giving another year to produce a did not succeed i see him out thid offseason. |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I have heard numerous rumblings that he has NO interest whatsoever in coaching the Redskins. Supposedly, he thinks our front office is a disaster. Perhaps he's changed his mind now that Snyder brought in Bruce Allen.
|
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
he definetly wants the Carolina job. That team is kind of built like the old Steelers too, run first ask questions later! They just need a qb and another reciever to be legit.
|
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I just dont see him coming here, no matter what the money offer is. Even Cower would take a long time to clean things up around here, but like others have said...maybe he has changed his mind now that the front office is starting to shape up around here...

what are you talking about, he took 12 years to win 1 superbowl. Tomlin took the same team he had at the very end and won 2 in four years...I do not want Cowher hear, if we are going to hire someone, hire the best |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
In Cowher’s 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles. It has become an article of faith among NFL pundits that the Steelers do not have a bad team two years in a row – they have never lost 10 or more games in consecutive years since the 1970 NFL merger. At the conclusion of the 2005 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the National Football League since Cowher was hired as head coach.
this is what im talking about, stability. as for Tomlin, how is he making out this season? |

we haven't won since 1991. if my math is right, that's more then 12 years |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
hmmm well id rather have shanny at this point...i love cowher and his hard ass attitude but.. we need something diff
|
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I just wish this guy would coach again so we his name isn't brough up anymore. Bill Cowher = the most overrated coach in the NFL. Good coach in all but man the way his name is brought up around here you'd think he's won 3 or 4 SB's.

He has a vacation home in NC but he has shown no interest in the Carolina job it wasn't avaiable las year. His 2 girls do attend Princton and he does own a home in NJ. |

Yes, talked about on 106.7 FM at nausium. Rumor is Cowher does want to coach in 2010, has been calling around to build a coaching staff, but definitly, definitly without a doubt 100% does not want to be the Redskins HC. Supposedly does not like the front office issues the Skins have and does not want to be apart of it. Also rumored to already have a GM in mind he would like to work with where ever he ends up and Allen is not that GM. So for those holding out hope that Cowher will or can be talked into taking over the coaching job forget it. Cowher is definitly out. Atleast for the Skins. If Fox is allowed to stay I would presume he takes the Tampa job. That's only if Fox does not lose his job. Cowher is very interested in the Panthers job. |

I'm sure his daughters could move to where ever he's coaching. A few yrs ago one daughter went to George Mason College in VA which is only about 30-40 min. from Redskins Park. It was rumored then that he wanted the Skins job so he could be close to her and see some of her games for whatever sport she played. |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
Besides Giantone....your stuck with your HC for atleast another 4-5 yrs ....right. Your gunna get rid of a HC that took you guys to a SB?
|

Damn, good job by Wilson!

I know, I was like WTF? |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I would never say never to Cowher here. Though I still think he's a leading candidate in Houston, assuming Kubiak is gone. Cowher allegedly would bring Kevin Colber with him wherever he goes

Denver got rid of Shannahan ,right? Coughlin has been there long enough,he's lost the players.......and the fans. |

JLC just said on the Tony K show that there is a 0% chance Cowher will come to DC. He said Wash isnt even on Cowher's radar. He said it almost a lock that Shanny is the Skins next head coach. |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I wasn't trying to imply that Cowher is coming here. Shanahan is all but here...but he's not here yet and I was just saying until that contract is officially signed and he's introduced anything can happen
|
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
Snyder is famous for pulling off moves that nobody saw coming, so yeah even though Cowher is an extreme longshot, you can never say never.

Amen Mattyk,my bet is still Gruden. |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I think Gruden is up there with Cowher as far as longshots go.
Smart money is on Shanahan, everyone in the know agrees a deal with him is basically in place and ready to go. |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
I look forward to next Monday! It will be like late Christmas. I hope we like Snyder's "gift."

Ahhhhhh, maybe not. From the NY Post. 7:39 PM, January 14, 2010 ι By PAUL SCHWARTZ Bill Cowher is going to be the next head coach of the Giants. So says someone fairly close to Cowher: Former Steelers running back Jerome Bettis. "I believe he’s going to be with the Giants,'' Bettis said Thursday on Sirius XM's Mad Dog Radio. "I think that’s the team that he really coveted. This is where he always wanted to be. The Mara family, he’s been very close to them. He’s known them very well and was on the inside track, before the Giants won the Super Bowl, for that job and I think he’s holding out for that opportunity if it presents itself.'' Asked what would have happened if the Giants in 2007 didn’t make their Super Bowl run under Tom Coughlin, Bettis said Cowher would have moved into the picture. "He would have definitely gotten the job and if Coughlin doesn’t get that team back in the right direction next year I think they’ll pull the plug,'' Bettis said. Cowher following the 2006 season left the Steelers and the coaching profession and currently works as a CBS studio analyst. He's been linked to several head coaching jobs -- Carolina is always mentioned -- and has steadfastly declared he may never get back in. If he does, the Giants already have one ingredient Bettis knows is a prerequisite: Eli Manning. "That’s where he’s got his eyes,'' Bettis said of the Giants. "Let me tell you the one thing I do know. I do know, because he told me, he doesn’t want to go anywhere that doesn’t have an established quarterback. He said he’s tired of doing the 'let me find a quarterback' thing because in Pittsburgh he never had a quarterback until [Ben] Roethlisberger and then he was like, ‘Hey, I’m ready to go. I finally got a quarterback.’ That’s not what he’s going to do again. He’s going to have an established quarterback wherever he goes.'' |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
this is what i've been prediciting for a while (tooting my own horn - ok, done now).
cowher makes perfect sense for new york. if he's content to wait for coughlin to retire or get fired, more power to him. the longer coughlin stays, the better it will be for us. |

EVERYONE in our division has beaten up on us over the past 6 years. we've been a pretty bad team for a while if you hadnt noticed. Cowher's a better coach than coughlin (career record) and coughlin doesnt have much left in the tank anyways. our best bet is for coughlin to stay a couple years, cowher to grow impatient, and sign somewhere else. then, when coughlin finally retires, there will be atleast one less elite candidate available to take over the job. |
Re: cowher to coach in 2010 ?
Well now when we beat the Giants we can laugh as Cowher gets made and spits in the face of his players while yelling at them.

if and when Shanahan wins his first playoff game in over a decade, i might feel like laughing. until then, we don't have a leg to stand on. |
