Thanks to coach Zorn
Zorn is a good guy so a part of me feels for him today. He came in and did the best he could under some less than ideal circumstances. Working with Vinny alone should get him some kind of award. Anyway, best of luck to Jim Zorn. He will land on his feet somewhere no doubt.

Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Good Luck Coach Zorn, Here is wishing you the best.
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Zorn is a true warrior, he's the kind of guy I'd have no problem sharing a fox-hole with in time of real trouble. Fighter to the end even though in this case he lost. Good luck Z-Man.
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I agree. Let's give thanks to Jim Zorn for what he tried to do. Having the balls to bench Campbell when he was sucking (even though he didnt stay with it), getting into it with Haynesworth when he was disrespected (He didn't do the same thing with Portis in 08).
Sadly, it was just too little too late.. |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
The guy basically won the lottery, his got a nice chunk of change in his pocket right now.
I have worked in bad situations with horribly bosses and only been paid $10 an hour. I don't feel bad for him at all and he brought me a lot of pain with his horrible coaching. Looking back at his QB drills with the slip and slide and throwing the pads at them, that is some laughable shit. Should have canned his ass right there. Good Bye Jim Zorn and don't let the door hit you in the ass, actualy let it hit you maybe it will wake your ass up. |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
The idea is or was to keep it positive here.

Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Not only Zorn but all the other people on his staff-coaches and administrative assistants alike-who are probably gone as well. Especially those with kids. This kind of stuff is an inevitably in pro sports and it's something you have to be prepared for, still it never feels good to be let go or to see good people let go.

For all the staff and families that are going through this upheaval. Thanks and Good luck in the future. But I am with mredskins, Zorn is a good guy who just got a couple mil for living his dream job and failing. I don't wish him ill, but it's a little much to say thanks to him at this point. |

Sorry but that was my really only negative post about Zorn, ever. I am just done with him. Keeping with the thread: "Good luck big guy!" |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I'm not convinced Jim won't be a decent head coach someday. If he learns from this I think he can be.

I was thinking that same thing Smack. There are more people feeling the pain from this than Zorn himself. It amazes me how some people can be so dismissive of "the man" because he didn't pan out to be a good "football coach". He's a man first, and he gave nothing but respect while he was here and he deserves nothing less going out. Someone may find some value in the two years experience he gained here and find a way to put it to good use. I always say, "One man's trash is another man's treasure". Good luck Zorn and all your coaches who have to endure what I'm sure you knew was inevitable for a while. Be like the cat Jim, no matter how they twist and turn you, land on your feet. |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I always felt bad for him. It's an awful move to put someone into a position that they are not qualified for. He did his best and took his lumps like a man. He handled an awful situation with dignity and I hop he finds success somewhere else in the NFL.
His charector has been amazing this year. |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I feel bad for him as a man because all that I heard was that he was decent to everyone he encountered and the media that covered him had nothing bad to say about the guy. I'm not going to waste false platitudes on his coaching tenure but I hope he finds a role that suits him.

I agree, Zorn may not be our choice as head coach but he treated it with class and held his head high all season amidst all the rumors and turmoil. With all the questions about his job week after week i think i would have went off on someone. |

Good luck coach zorn

Zorn is a good man who had to work under some bad circumstances. Although he's not HC material I wish the guy well. |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Nice guy and I hope you land as an O cordinator with Dallas, Giants, or Philly.

Good luck Z-Man in CLE next year coaching Quinn
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
i was thinking the same thing....that he may end up in Cleveland because of Mike Holmgren.
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I have a ton of respect for Zorn personally. His personality is great and he's a fine person who handled an impossibly-tough situation with grace and class the whole time, with plenty of laughs thrown in.
I hope he succeeds somewhere in the future in a job and organization that fits him better. He tried hard here in a no-win situation and did his best...and never lost his players' respect and drive to play for him, which shows a lot about him as a person. |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Thanks to coach Zorn for taking the high road when he very well could have dropped and badmouthed the organization. He was thrust into a position he wasn't ready for, the skins couldn't find a qualified HC so they promoted him a bit too quick.

Well, up until Week 15 anyways. :D

Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Zorn is a class guy and he gave it his best shot under extremely stressful conditions. I hope he does well in his next job. Good luck Z.
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Class guy, solid individual. I wish him the best in the future.
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Seriously, seriously classy guy...did it the right way, got a lot of derision but he handled stuff the right way. Good luck in the future coach
|
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
You showed a lot of class coach. Most people would have lost controll and made an even bigger mess than what you had already.
Hey lets have three cheers for Jim Zorn??!!! HIP HIP HOORAH!!!! HIP HIP HOORAH!!!!! HIP HIP HOORAH!!!!! Damn it felt so good last year when he cranked it up after the Dallas win. Damn I thought he would be here for a decade. Good Luck Jim! |

Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I dont really feel the need to Thank Zorn, because I dont think he really did a whole lot here...but I certainly feel for the guy and the situation he was in. He was in a no win situation, period. Even though I thought today needed to happy, I am a Jim Zorn fan. I really hope the best for the guy, I feel bad that this is what he walked into for his first head coachign gig...although he is gonna laugh all the way to the bank

Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
Thanks Jim Zorn. Thanks for being classy even though the rumors were swirling ever since week 2, thanks for at least seeing it through until now, and finally good luck wherever you land because you deserved better. In hindsight it's easy to say he was underqualified and it's Snyder's fault for giving the job to a man who didn't even have coordinator experience, but Zorn made the best of it anyway. I hope he comes back successfull somewhere else, particularly a place I don't care about like Cleveland or somewhere like that.

Nice thread / post . He gave his all , not the perfect situation for a man to start his coaching career . |
Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
I wish Jim Zorn the best with his future endeavors. Personally I wished he had more experience as a head coach before coming to Washington because that 6-2 start was impressive especially sweeping Philadelphia. He should join Holmgren and gain more experience and possibly get hired as a QB coach.

Re: Thanks to coach Zorn
This man was the biggest of class acts. As Redskins fans I think we can all respect Jim Zorn for many of his great traits, one of them extreme honesty (to his detriment) and humility. He is a great human being, smart, and has charisma. In addition he obviously knows the game of football though lacked the experiece to be a head coach in this league as of yet. I blame this mistake on Danny mostly because of his lack of foresight and knowledge in the football department though it is tough to fault Danny for his passion of the Redskins. Finally, this heart break could have been avoided if he had listened and hired Greg in the first place. Hopefully he will finally get it right this time. :)
Cross your fingers! And Hail to the Redskins, as we all hope 2010 will be a much better year for the team on a number of levels. |
