Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Report: Mike Shanahan, Washington Redskins agree to contract - ESPN
Its a done deal. |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Jason Reid of the washington post says that these reports are premature and haven't been confirmed yet.

Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
I think Snyder's statement that nobody is satisfied w/ the team's record over the last two years shows he has learned very little. Refresh my memory, was his team any good before he hired Zorn? The last decade of failure is Snyder's failure...he's got a few dopes fooled but the vast majority aren't ready to take him serious.
I hope Mike brings a passion to win and he and Allen make the football decisions while Snyder stays out of it. I think we'll only know if this is the MO in a couple years, based on the W-L record. |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
It's on NFL.com as well.

Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Welcome to the Shany! Let's see whats next.
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
glad its finally solved. it will be interesting to see who we retain, if anyone. im sure all of the offensive staff will be gone.
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
I too am excited to become the 2004-2008 Denver Broncos. May we have at least as much success as they did.
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Im glad this is a done deal. The article also states that Shannahan will have the final say in football decisions. I don't see Shanny backing down to Snyder. The last guy that didn't back down was fired though. :)

Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Now the speculation can really begin!!
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
If so, the era of "The Rat" begins. By the way, ESPN news is confirming it as a 5 year contract and VP of operations title.

What players and coaches are getting the axe? |

portis will be gone i think, i dont think he and shannahan got along well. im sure shannahan will bring his own offensive staff since he has his own distinct style of offense. im sure he will bring his son in to be the offensive coordinator, and who knows maybe his son will be groomed to be a future head coach for us. id like to see jerry gray retained on defense, but other than him i dont really care too much either way on anyone. |

maybe the 2002-2005 Broncos where they were top 10 in offense and defense. Except the 2002 defense which was ranked 15. 2002 9-7 2003 10-6 2004 10-6 2005 13-3 |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Executive vice president of football operations. What a joke. Florios comments mirror my own. Different people. Same old redskins.

Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Say what you will about Shanahan's end tenure at Denver, he is the best coach available, he is a known for building high-power offenses, he is "fresh" hasn't been calling bingo or running a nascar team, and has a strong relationship with the GM.
I call it a win. This is the first coach we've had since Marty with the balls to tell Synder NO, when it comes to personnel decisions (and I include Gibbs 2.0...he was just too damn nice). This team is a two year project for anyone, but this is the most hope I have had for a competitive team since 2004. I'm interested to see who is coming in at director of player personnel...that is Mike's one glaring weakness and he needs a strong person there along with his son. |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Zimmer as D coordinator and his son will be O coordinator
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
My daughter says that she is serving the two men dinner right now. Shanny is having Lobster Tail and Danny is having the Fillet mignon.
Yeah right I wish, I would be on my way to take pictures! Seriously though, I doubt that this isn't true. |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
I heard on the radio its a 5 year deal worth 35 million. Is that the going rate today for an NFL coach?

Does this mean we're going to have to deal with your whining about this? Seriously, if you can't see this as an upgrade you are in the .001 of anyone with a ounce of football knowledge. I suppose there always has to be one. |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
well let's see what happens we all knew it was a done deal a while ago

I believe this entire coaching staff will get the ax. Players, I have a few longtime veterans in mind that may not be back. The speculation from now until training camp and beyond is what's going to keep it interesting. |

When Shanahan was fired, he had 3 years left at 7Mil a year, so I would say this is a reasonable rate based on his previous salary |

Nooooo, lol, haven't you been reading the message boards? You can only get good offensive lineman in the first round!!! |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Glad to see it done. Get right to the evaluation of players and putting the new scheme in place ASAP. I'm more excited about Kyle Shanahan as the OC and Mike Zimmer the DC. I think KS will need to emphasize the run a bit more than in Houston to be successful in late Nov. / Dec. in the NFC East, but that shouldn't be an issue, especially if Alex Gibbs is coming to run the OL. Zimmer will likely stay with the 4-3 (I'm not sure where the 3-4 rumors are coming from) and greatly improve our defense in terms of 3rd down % and turnovers.
It's the off-season, time for eternal optimism. |
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
sidenote: JReid sounds ticked that he can't get a confirmation back from the Skins. Rather they had let him break the story.
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
Looks like Mike is going to bring his son with him from the Texans to serve as his OC. I sure wish he could bring Andre Johnson with him too.
|
Re: Shanahan The New Head Coach Of the Redskins
I bought into the early rumors. You think I'll be able to return this Chucky doll?

Eh, it's to much effort for me to ask in good conscience. If I could get to it I would post it in my photobucket account and redirect it here. Still I hate when they do that members only crap. |
