Sean Taylor Poll
vote and discuss
This one's a slam dunk Matty... something about Sean scares the heck outta me... he really has seemed EERILY similar to Ricky Williams in the way he has conducted his life the past 6 months or so. VERY flaky... he really needs to be reigned in before he reaches his stud potential and won't listen to anyone. (Hopefully someone can get through to him now)
Absolutley Agree with this desicions. I really dont know what to say to defend it other than the obvious. This isnt somthing REDSKINS do, bottom line. Hopefully we will all be able to look past this down the road, but Sunday bench him. There are plenty of guys we can put in there, and with Williams gameplans, I think we can be successful.
I hate that he's not going to be able to play, especially against the Packers, but he did break Gibbs' most important rule: 'don't embarass the Redskins'. He brought it upon himself.
Innocent until proven guilty. Let the NFL hand down suspensions.
gotta discipline him otherwise he wont learn anyhting
Only in criminal court Daseal. In civil court you only need a preponderance of evidence (more likely he did it than not).
:httr:  ...why st!?!?!? |

Yeah that's what it comes down to, he embarrassed himself and the Redskins. It's a no-brainer, he's gotta sit. |
I think this was all a conspiracy by the Kerry campaign to keep this Redskins election year streak going and put Kerry in the White House
Seriously though, he has to sit. It's for the greater good long-term. |

AND - since ST's benching was done by neither a criminal or civil court, the coach doesn't need any evidence whatever. Instead he could be saying - "Innocent or guilty - You need to settle down young man and realize we have a lot invested in you. Get your sh** together and don't put yourself in a position were your inoncence or guilt is even at issue." |
Bench him, without a doubt. What I want to know is where were his teamates? Why would they let him drive home in that condition? He's a rookie and the vet's should be watching over him and leading by example. I know he's an adult with a mind of his own, but it's poor judgement on behalf of his teamates to be condoning this kind of behavior. What he need's right now though is support. I'm pretty sure he feels like crap and nobody was hurt fortunately.
Sit his ass down. We're not the Dallas Cowboys!

:httr:  ...why st!?!?!?[/QUOTE] Yeah but the district attorney can't take you to civil court. |
It's official:

Oh well, thats what you get. If Ryan Clark or Franz or somthing messes up bigtime, I'm giving them a pass and putting it on Taylors shoulders.
As Trump would.."this is an easy one...you're fired". No brainer here. The real issue is when they actually let him come back. I think this effectively blows his shot at DROY. I hope he learns from this and grows up. Sounds like his Police Chief daddy needs start whooping some ass. Time to grow up Taylor.
Sit his ass down. He made a huge mistake. He let the team down.
Like Lavar said maybe this is a blessing in disguise. Maybe he can learn from this and finally grow up. I feel ok with Lott and Clark back there. It's gonna be tough though. |
I agree with the benching. He needs to know that what he does off the field can & will effect his playing time.
I have to agree with the decision. it's just a shame that it happened in a week when they could least afford to be more shorthanded on defense. We all knew these Miami guys were trouble when we drafted him...
I agree with smootsmak, the kerry campain has struck again. The washingtonpost endorsed kerry and they are coming after us and are following our players . Gibbs might want to hide until game day.LOL
They need to lock Taylor in a room with Lavar for about ten minutes.
Its the right move. He is a 21-year-old boy with an pro-football player's body. He has to grow up and learn about repurcussion.
I agree with the benching because he got caught. Fairfax county police can often times be dickheads to young people enjoying the nightlife. next time st should take the back roads until he reaches 66 or fairfax county parkway to avoid the problems.
the cops wait out side of the clubs to pull people over as they leave. I think it was a DWB that lead to the DWI. They had a episode of "Madd sports" a while ago were it was portis, gardner , taylor, and cartright. They seem to kick it hard and were all probrally at the party. he was most likely the first to leave and that why he got caught. I've been through it... I bet his coocky attitude got him put in jail though.

Or maybe he should just have someone sober drive his drunk ass around. |
I like what LaVar Arrington had to say - this is a blessing in disguise, a wake up call, and I am sure he will be supported by the players in helping him get properly oriented.
Sean made a serious mistake, but he is a very good young man and everything is going to be fine. This is a lesson for the team as a whole as well - a clear message about what happens when you don't show the discipline in your personal life that you have to. Hopefully the players and everyone will come together and the team will be stronger as a result of this misfortune. |
Eventually higher standards will provide us with a better team. Won't be this season though.
Sit the rook!! Gibbs needs to and will lay down the law! :coach:
i kno it does suk dat he couldnt play but it was his stupid mistake and we have plenty oof people who can filll in for him probably not as good but theyll be there...but yes he should be benched as a first round draft pick to go dui is very very stupid he deserves to be benched even thou hes valuble
ST made a huge mistake, luckily no one else(innocent bystander) was involved, and now he has to take his whoopin's(possibly quite literally from his father.) Gibbs is doing this to show ST that no one is bigger than the Redskins and integrity is key to the organization. It's a bit unnerving because Taylor was starting to get over his rough start to the year and was catching on incredibly well on the field, but it's not suprising that this happened to a young, incredibly talented young man who has recently been given a lot of money and who, if I'm not mistaken, has never truly been out on his own before(didn't his family live in miami or nearby?). Hopefully this will wise him up and not lead to multiple transgressions in the future.
He Could have called a DD. He messed up bigtime. Hell I'm trashed right now,and I called a DD to get home. He's gotta learn from his mistakes, not just as a Redskin but as a person. YOU CANT DRIVE DRUNK. Period.
