Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
MINNEAPOLIS -- Tempers flared Sunday at the Metrodome after Minnesota's final touchdown of a 34-3 playoff victory over Dallas as Cowboys linebacker Keith Brooking sprinted toward the Vikings' sideline, taunting coach Brad Childress and later calling the late score "classless."
Vikings nose tackle Pat Williams, meanwhile, said Brooking was lucky to escape the Minnesota sideline in one piece. "We don't care what Keith Brooking says," Williams said. "He was about to get his ass whupped on our sideline over there. It don't matter. Nobody said anything when they blew out the Eagles [the past two weeks]. "It's the playoffs. It ain't no regular-season game. If you lose, you go home. We take no pity on them. Do they expect us to? I don't care about no Brooking. He can say whatever he wants to say." With the Vikings leading 27-3 late in the fourth quarter, Childress left his starters in the game. The Cowboys gave up the ball on downs at their 37-yard line with 5:26 remaining, and the Vikings threw three passes on their ensuing six-play drive. The final one was an 11-yard touchdown pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe on fourth-and-3 with 1:55 remaining. Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said the Vikings ran up the score, and Brooking agreed. "I thought it was classless," Brooking said. "I thought it was B.S. Granted, we get paid to stop them, but we had zero timeouts left. I didn't think there was any call for that." Shiancoe laughed when hearing Brooking's comments. "OK, we apologize. I'm sorry. Better?" |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I thought this deserved it's own thread. I want to relish in the Cowboys defeat as long as I can.

I've concluded that the Cowboys are full of a bunch of pussies. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I agree with Brooking that the extra passes and score were not necessary.
But his blow-up is every bit as classless as the Viking behavior that he deplored. Shut up and take it like a man, Brooking. Oh, that's right, you can't be a man because you play for Dallas. Today Brooking is a double loser. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I side with Pat Williams on this one. This is the playoffs, not regular season. I really fail to see how scoring on your opponent is classless. I've never subscribed to the idea that scoring in the final minutes is such a horrible thing. If you think about it, the score could have been worse.
I've said it before, I'll say it again this is football folks. |

My middle school teams understand the concept don't know why Brookings doesn't. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
OK, I'm sorry, but these are professional football players. It's not some high school where one team might have a GIANT advantage over another.
It's not a DIII college playing it's second stringers getting owned by Alabama's starters... These are former college stars playing against former college stars. I agree with what was said above, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, STOP IT. No such thing as running up the score in the NFL. If a team can actually run the score up on you, you deserve it. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
F*ck Keith Brooking, f*cking pussy should have done something about it, instead of whinning like a bitch

You read about upstanding members of almost every team, but I never read anything good about Dallas players. Maybe Jason Witten when he's doing some damn jumping jacks on NFL Play60, but overall I just see a bunch of assholes who think the second they get on "America's Team" they have a right to be absolute pieces of human waste. |

TMC, you crack me up.

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
if you bitched about the Patriots running up the score against the Skins, then you had better side with Brooking here. IMO, it was classless, and rubbing it in. but its the Cowboys, so great job Minn.

I hate Dallas. :( I honestly don't even hate the team as much as I hate the fans. The fans are what gives me the reason to hate. I live in the HEART of freaking Virginia and so much bandwagon bullshit has been going on lately that it's been enraging me. |

I never thought that about the Pats either. We should have been able to prevent the Pats from going over fifty on us. That's on US, not them. :( |

I can honestly say it didn't bother me one bit. I remember some people here were kind of hot under the collar about it, but I think it's just cool to hate Belichick and that was one more reason to do it. It's the Skins fault that they let the Pats dropped 50 on them. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Brookings has always been an overrated douche.. I was in Atlanta for his first 5-6 years and he was SO overrated but the local fans rode his jock because he went to GA Tech. The Cowboys got what they deserved, quit whining and stop them.

Yeah but none of the Redskins players cried about it. Furthermore, the Cowboys were talking a bit of trash (Sensabaugh) during the week. |

Yeah,I agree,I thought it was classless and something Joe Gibbs would never do.But since it was the cowboys woohoo! I didnt like it because as soon as it happenned I knew that this would be the talk of the town, should they have or shouldnt they?,blah blah blah. And now if Favre gets hurt theyll say it was karma, serves him right, blah blah blah |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I have no problems that the Vikings scored again that late, and I LOVE the fact that dallass is whining about it....but that being said, if Ware or someone else came unblocked on one of those passing plays and laid Favre out and hurt his shoulder or something, he and the rest of the Vikings would have felt pretty stupid.
I've concluded that the Cowboys are full of a bunch of pussies.
typical Cow-bitch behavior. There whole team and fans are nothing but style-over-substance (unless it's substance abuse, cough, cough, Michael Irvin..LOL).
HOW 'BOUT DEM COW-B!TCHES!!!! |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I think it is also fair to say the officiating was quite tilted in Dallas's favor. The series where Favre was laid out after the whistle was blown dead for an offsides call was atrocious. There were 4-5 bad calls against Minnesota on that drive alone.
As for the score, if I recall, Minnesota needed a first down to keep the ball and were up by three scores. I can see why Dallas was annoyed, but it wasn't nearly as egregious as Brady throwing in the fourth quarter against the Skins when up by 40+ points in a regular season non-conference game. I know why Brookings was hot under the collar, he was in the heat of the game...what I don't understand is why Phillips opened his fat mouth afterward. That just reeks of sour grapes and he should know better. Gibbs only response to the Pats running up the score was that "we should have stopped them." |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I agree with Pat Williams, Brookings must understand this is the NFL not the please have mercy league. If you don't want them to score there's something called "stop them"
Boys = Sore losers, take the whuppin like a man. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Theres a reason why the other 10 cowboys on defense were walking back to the bench after the vikes got that "kiss our asses" TD. Come on Keith give it up.

Thats a stretch. Tony Romo by all accounts is a good guy that gets way to much flack around here. To be honest only thing Romo seems to be guilty of in my eyes is horrible taste in relation to a certain ex-girlfriend. Anyway you asked for it. Well again, I think this was more about the Vikings and the naysayers than the Cowboys. They were being told all week how the Cowboys were on such a roll and how Romo had this so called monkey off his back and how he can relax now blah, blah, blah. And like Childress said, they were just fed up by Tuesday. So I think they just wanted to shove it down everyone's collective throats, not just Dallas'. If this weekend proves anything, it goes to show that you have to play the game. Everything is earned this time of the year and nothing can be taken for granted. The Chargers made a ton of mental mistakes today. Antonio Gates had a few easy ones dropped, Philip Rivers wasn't crisp at all, Vincent Jackson kicking the flag, three missed FGs by an All-Pro kicker, the head-butt down in the red zone. It was a meltdown; That's coaching if you ask me. LT looked totally deflated during his presser. I think he just wants to move on at this point in his career. I thought it was very telling that he responded to a reporter and said, look, this isn't the first time this has happened to us this late in the season. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
The only time I think it is unacceptable and running up the score in the NFL is if it's within two minutes and there is a 3 score lead. Then, kneel it. Otherwise, keep scoring.

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I would like to say gentlemen that is has been a very sad and dark year in Redskin nation, with the final loss we have opened the curtains and let sunlight in. I believe we have made the changes we needed to make and our life will be brighter with a new coach and front office. I have a giant freaking smile on my face knowing that Eaglets, Cowgirls and that other team will not be in the Superbowl this year either. The smashing, bashing, crushing, and stomping defeat that the cowboys were handed today was a joy to watch.
NEXT YEAR WE MAKE THE PLAYOFFS THIS I GUARANTEE!!! If we don't I will put up 100 dollars to help support this forum. Looking forward to draft my friends,,,,,can't freaking wait. P.S. Vikes were practicing their two minute offense at the end, to damn funny. |

Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I don't see anything wrong with the Vikings getting that final TD. If Dallas' defense would have done their job, the TD would have never happened. Dallas had plenty of other opportunities to score and keep it a game. I think its funny how some people say its classless. I don't think there is such a thing as running the score up on a NFL team. Keep them out of the endzone if you don't want them to score.
Just like when the Skins got blown out by the Patriots the other year, I was pissed that the Skins got their asses handed to them, not at the Pats for running up the score. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
i freaking loved the face that the Vikes ran in up on the cowfags ... that was a royal ass beating, sorry cry babies see your bitch asses next season ..

If this wasnt against the Cowboys id care..lol
Minn was trying to impress the Saints. I doubt they have a repeat next week. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I'd like to add that there's a big difference between this situation and the Pats/Skins game that some people have been referring.
Belichick's game was early in the regular season and he was purposefully running up the score on teams. Later in that season, he kept his starters in while being up by multiple touchdown during meaningless games when they had clinched everything they could have clinched. In this situation, it is the playoffs, and the Vikes were playing against a high powered offense. Furthermore, the Cowboys were also talking crap all week, so was the media (since the Cowboys are media darling). Once again, different situations. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
I'm gonna play Wheel of Fortune for a minute Mods...
Can I get an "S" ,as in shithead, behind the word Brooking. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
Screw Dallas. The Vikes were tired of hearing the hype all week and whipped their ass. Obviously Dallas wasn't good enough to do anything about it.

Minn was trying to impress the Saints. I doubt they have a repeat next week.
Is that a Saints win prediction? I'm not sure Williams can put together a genius gameplan two consecutive weeks...but I will say if Williams plans for Minn the way he planned for AZ the Saints are SB bound. |
Re: Vikings Run Up The Score: Brooking vs. Pat Williams
On second thought, I realized I spelled his name correctly. But he's still a shithead.
