Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
Sam Farmer is the NFL beat writer/columnist for the LA Times - - analogous to what Mark Maske does for the Washington Post. Here is an interesting piece that he did on Peyton Manning recently.
Jim Mora knew Peyton Manning would be special some day - latimes.com |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
I agree with Mora. When all is said and done I think he'll end up the best QB ever.

Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
peyton, fitz. seems players who hang around nfl teams at a young age and have nfl pedigree do pretty well in the nfl, especially the "taking it professionally" part.
one thing i do really really appreciate about JC is his professionalism and willingness to put the work in. man i just wish things would click for him. |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
Peyton is hands down the most intelligent QB that has ever played, and we are blessed to be able to watch him.
|
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
he will hold just about all the records when all is said and done barring some career ending injury *knocks on wood*

Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
They have the worst running game in the NFL. If everyone KNOWS you're going to pass, and STILL no one can stop you -- you've got to have a super-QB. The guy is simply amazing.
Has any other QB ever called all the offensive plays like Peyton does? |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
and..... this is what I was afraid of.....
Payton this and Payton that..... You don't know how happy I am the SB is not Favre vs. Manning. I could see the media flipping a coin everyday wondering who's jock they should be on any given day. Don't get me wrong, I'll be the first to say he's an awsome QB but can we get beyond the Manning family story and Payton? No different then I hoped for the Eagles to make the SB and lose big time I hope all until the SB the media talks about nothing but Payton and the Colts get hammered by the Saints. It will make the end of the football year a spectacular event. |

The way JC carries him self he is on the same level as P.Manning maybe even more (Professinally and Personally). Manning started a little drama before the season because he didnt like that Tom Moore was to retire and the Colts and B.POLIAN were not saying much on what or who would run there offense. He pretty muched bitched moaned and complained til T.Moore came back. JC has had his offense tweakedand switched and shit on, but he never has complained he just works his best to learn the new offense and get his head bashed in. |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
Well Peyton has some good guys around him as well. He is the best in the game and will probably end up BOAT when his career is finished. He is a competitor that wants to win Lombardis, and not some shmuck that will just show up and make a half assed effort to try and look like he is earning an inflated paycheck. That is a problem that the SKins have, as well as most of the NFL. It is more than talent that sets Peyton apart, he is truly a student of the game and really wants Lombardis bad. So does the Colts FO.

I guess that's all the more reason to hope the Saints above help out the Saints below. May the Colts turn into dog food. |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
SB,
Only way Colts lose is if the first teamers get the flu or something the night before. THe Saints stumbled their way into the SB. THe Vikes practically gave them the game. Saints have played like crap since they played us with the exception of their first playoff game. It is almost like the Skins in '08. Start at 6-2 then limp down to .500 ball. They already got into the playoffs before their slump, but man they sucked in Dec-Jan. |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
This here shows you how much peyton loves the game and how competitive he is

Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
As I've said many times on here, Manning is a classless jerk. Only Peyton Manning can rub his ass on a woman and come out with a squeaky clean image. Why?
I guess he's just more proof that if you're a media darling you can do anything you want and still get the endorsements. And why is Tiger losing endorsements? Peytons great, you seem to be the only person here on this thread that dislikes the guy who might just end up being the greatest QB of all time before its all said and done. |

Right. Manning is a "darling" so they ignore sensational stories. Sure. |

Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
Peyton is no Joe Montana. Peyton owns the regular season, Montana owns the post-season.

Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
Funny, was discussing last week at work best QB ever...I said:
1.Peyton 2.Montana 3.Elway 4.Farve 5.Brady/Marino I think Peyton, the way he analyzes defenses and basically runs/calls it on the field seals it for me. Never seen anything like it and it is amazing to watch...like last week the way he destroyed the Jets secondary the second half was brillant. I love Joe, he was my father's favorite and remember him in the playoffs being simply a cool customer, poise and clutch. I think you had to be tougher back then to play QB b/c of the hitting, but I think defense schemes are better and the league is stronger as a whole. I gotta give Peyton the edge, Montana a very close second. |
Re: Peyton Manning - - Interesting Insight
We should trade Will Montgomery for Peyton Manning. Maybe get the Colts to throw in a draft choice to boot.

I don't know if I'm that catagory? I like him and know he's an awsome QB and like what he does on the field. I love his comercials. But I'm just so damn sick of hearing the media playing into the Payton this and Payton that like there is no other players on the Colts team or that there is no other team in the SB. It just seems like everytime the Colts make it to the play offs the story is all about Payton or the Manning family. Could we atleast have them ignore them one season and talk about Brees or the Saints? Especially since they have not made it ever? |

Assuming the accusations are even correct, 1- it was from 2003 that the article was last updated, 2- the kid was in college 2a- don't tell me you didn't do dumb things in college. 3- He has not had incidents since. So the only thing this proves is when you point the finger, there are three pointing back at you. |

The media is hyping it the way anyone should hype one of the best QB's ever. He will be #1 when all is said and done. He is truly a sight to behold. We are watching history. We should recognize it and enjoy it cause these opportunities don't come around every day. |

Yeah I liked Young alot (highest rated passer ranking all time), but he inherited such a great team and that franchise was run so well...I guess I feel like im more impressed by a QBs that came in and did it themselves, pulling the team together...he is mos def in the top ten and second thinking challenges my 5 spot with Brady/Marino. Elway, never really a fan of this guy, but was IMO incredible. The Superbowls, the arm strength, and the comeback victories are legendary... |
