Sea World killer whale claims second victim

SeaWorld Orlando: 1 dead at SeaWorld Orlando Shamu attraction - latimes.com

The whale "Tilly" attacked a female trainer, also was blamed for drowning of a trainer at a different park in 1991 and was found with a dead guy in the tank a year later, believed to have snuck in and died of hypothermia, but also had been bitten.

Female trainer was explaining what was going to happen during the show, whale comes up and grabs her, thrashes her around, etc.

Can't take the wild out of the animal.

The other victim was in 1991 in a park in British Columbia

So the Japanese from the Whale Wars episode of South Park had it right.

Sounds like that whale was into some kinky stuff.

Sold to SeaWorld as a stud in 1992, the whale was involved in a second incident when authorities discovered the body of a naked man lying across his back in July 1999.

Aparently that naked guy was in the park after hours and went swimming in the water with the KW. Man I would never do that! I have had a nightmare all my life of swimming in one of those tanks at night and a KW getting me, scary shit!

I was just there on Friday.

edit-
We know a girl who is a trainer/intern there. Here's one of her pics of the whale that killed the trainer. 12k pounds, 22.5 feet long. He's the largest whale they have there.

What part of the word KILLER is confusing? I forgive the whale, it was having a bad day.

That "kill" part that's associated with violence and death? And yeah you should kinda know what you're getting into with a killer whale.

I was thinking the same thing. If I was a killer whale this is what I'd want to do to the people holding me in that small tank.

The girl I spoke about above just said that during her orientation at SeaWorld that the trainer that died said that if you slip into this whale's tank, you won't come out alive. They're saying that she slipped and fell into the tank.

A more entertaining title would have been "Terrence Cody Kills Trainer"

Seriously though, that's tragic. RIP to the trainer

Other reports say that it happened backstage. Probably too early to say either way. When I was at the show last Friday, she wasn't a part of it. Not saying she wasn't today. Just saying.

Darwinism at it's finest. Swimming with a 22 foot monster that happens to be called a Killer Whale = fail. Someone was killed by a Killer Whale? You don't say....

It's like Steve Irwin. I loved the guy, but you just knew mother nature was gonna take him sooner rather than later.

No doubt, the guy had the audacity to hang his kid around a croc.

That is what I am saying! Where is the vid.

I heard that whale was only used to splash the audience not a ride around whale.

This may come as a shocker to folks but animals don't want us caging them up and trying to make them part of our world.

This is a great doc:

The Cove Movie: Welcome

Basically it is about the guy who trained Flipper and now realizes that the show Flipper has brought a hardship on to the dolphins. He is now trying to save the dolphins from humans.

Wonder what unusual circumstances were involved. They normally do not attack humans, at least as a food source they don't. Could have been the result of some other form of provocation.

Or they just sense fear, like most wild animals.

Demonstrates how unpredictable a wild animal can be. This is a person who has undoubtedly work with this animal on many occasions before. Sad.
