Guilty pleasures-Music
What are the songs you like but would be a bit embarrassed to admit?
For me it songs that one would deem a bit girly. i am addicted to electric feel by mgmt. |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
I've been known to blast some Radio Disney (company orders....yeah that's the ticket)
|
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
lol good topic...im a huge music fan. I look like your average, conservative white boy, but have really been into alot of down south mainly memphis and houston city independent rap. While I enjoy all types of rock, blues music, when I have people over and my IPOD on shuffle...when some of that genre comes on, I do get some questions....its funny. Last weekend, while over a friends house in Richmond, his IPOD had Huey Lewis and the News start blasting...it was funny

That's Nickelodeon...you amateur :) Matty-Fiona Apple is great, haven't heard her stuff in a while though I was all about Green Day, Dr. Dre, and...The Cranberries back in college |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
Nothing wrong with Green Day or Dr. Dre.
I used to listen to The Cranberries in college too, good music to fall asleep to, and I don't mean that in a bad way it was just relaxing music. Sarah McLachlan can put me to sleep too, but again in a good way. |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
About the only music I don't like is most rap and all opera.

Lol, me too. That's funny. I have to add Rihanna, and I don't even like R&B. |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
some of those jewel songs get me good. when one comes on the radio, i gotta look around, roll up the windows, crank it up and then start whailing away.
amy whinehouse and nora jones, etc get me too but my girl is always playing their stuff on the jukebox so i have an excuse there. blink 182 im embarrased to admit, another guilty pleasure of mine is having one of their jams come on the radio, roll them windows up and start screaming along. i also love me some fruity mixed drinks during the day like orange or grapefruit crushes. |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
Milli Vanilli anyone?
|

Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
I constantly find myself listening to Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift
|

Um... Photograph by Nickelback.
The other one is Sarah McLachlan. Like every song by her. She's a really amazing musician actually, it's just so girly that guys aren't supposed to talk about it. Then when her animal cruelty commercial comes on it practically brings me to tears. The Schneed, on the verge of tears. There. I said it. You happy now, Sarah McLachlan? [YT]9gspElv1yvc[/YT] |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
Excellent thread. I actually have a cryptically named playlist on my Ipod that contains those Tommy Boy scene-like songs that, well, I just can't help belting out when I hear them. At the risk of permanent embarrassment, here are some of them: Freedom (George Michael), Put Your Records On (Corrinne Baily Rae--this cracks my wife up to no end), You Don't Have to Be a Star (a 70s classic from Marilyn McCoo and Billy David Jr.), and, of course, several ABBA songs (Super Trouper being pretty much my favorite).

Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
One time my roommate caught me listening to Sweet Escape by Gwen Stefani. I would almost rather him catch me masturbating than listening to that song...

[YT]9gspElv1yvc[/YT]
That song Angel will always remind of my friend. She hit a bad downward spiral and never came back. She passed when this song was about six months old, she said it was her theme song and she could never bear to listen to it,was too close to home for her. RIP Jen S. Back on track, I have Sexy's Back by Timberlake on my iPod. I love when it comes on espically on the treadmill makes me laugh to myself that no one knows I am rocking out to Timberlake. |
Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
I do like Lady Gaga as well.

Re: Guilty pleasures-Music

Re: Guilty pleasures-Music
Ahh the Ting Tings. No one that knows me would ever believe that I sing "That's not my name" along with my daughters.
I am off to get my daily testosterone injection to compensate for the amount of estrogen that I put up with on a daily basis. I lose more and more of my manhood every day. |

amazing live as well
their old stuff is amazing, like crazy game of poker or whatever it's called you wouldn't even think it's the same band that is on the radio these days, they sold out big time, but they got paid too so... edit:it's kinda jam bandish but good, music starts at about 1:50, long song but worth the listen if you've never heard it, this is acustic version, we used to get s-faced to this back in the day [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hjqgs1YRpHU[/ame] |

I've got versions from 8 minutes and change to about 27 minutes long, I think somewhere over 100 versions of it on my music drive.. nowadays they don't kick out too many long ones which is unfortunate.. the one at the patriot center in 2005 with little brother was great, freestyling back and forth between them and Marc.. always wanted to see them at red rocks they admit what they did recently as trying to get some radio play but apparently the new album will be trying to bring the radio back to their style.. rather than adjusting the other way, we'll see.. there were some good tracks on their last album (not the live one from their last tour) I actually caught them twice on the last tour.. charlotte, nc and auburn hills, mi.. still an amazing band live.. took people who made fun of me for listening to them both times and they had great times.. nowadays you get some of the younger douchier crew but there are still plenty of people our ages that grew up with it too.. brett dennen was with them in MI and is another guy that I enjoy quite a bit, so it was great getting to see him perform.. they actually listed that and their MSG show as their best shows of the tour, so it was great getting to see them at their top, they've improved in so many ways, kind of wish I didn't get as drunk as I did, but no big deal.. for the first time ever I bought one of their live show recordings it's amazing the dedication that they put to their live stuff and constantly changing set lists, versions of songs, etc that most bands don't bother to do.. delicate few at the first MSG show was amazing.. too bad the fans fuck it up nowadays |
