The Masters 2010
Things get underway today with the par 3 event. Obviously the big story line is Tiger Woods' return to golf, but I think he's going to have a tough go at it this weekend. You know what though? I'll still be pulling for him. I lost some respect for the man with his whole ordeal, but I'm such a huge fan of him when he's on the course.
What are you looking forward to this year? Who do you think will play well? Sleepers? I love golf, and The Masters is one of my favorite sporting events year in and year out. I like Ernie Els, Camillo Villegas, and Steve Stricker to all play very well this week. Discuss the tournament here. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Def Els...he's in good form right now. He's got to be the odds on favorite. Something tells me that Tiger won't go quietly though.
|
Re: The Masters 2010
Should be interesting, I'm more curious about how Tiger plays than the hoopla surrounding it all though. He's a great golfer, where he sinks his putts off of the course isn't of much concern to me, though I wouldn't exactly ask him to be the godfather to my unborn children.

Re: The Masters 2010
With TW and his interviews I just find it strang that people want to know every detail of what he did. What other then he cheated on his wife with a bunch of chicks and what they looked like even matters. Els has been looking good and my sleeper is Fred Couples. I will pull for Phil but I think whats going on with his wife and mother are in his head but with him who knows. My buddy and his two sons will be there Thursday and Friday and I can't wait to here about going.
Well I said I'd pull for Phil and my sleeper was Chouples so I'd say I hit this one pretty good. I was surprised at how they set the course up for a Sunday round but I like how guys could go for pins on the right holes. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Lee Westwood's game sets up well for Augusta, I can see him doing some damage. I'd echo the Els pick too because he's been red hot. Though he tends to disappear at majors, even when coming in hot like this, so who knows.
I'll definitely root for Tiger though, I'm looking forward to this tournament. |
Re: The Masters 2010
I see we have alot of TW fans here is there any reason why you like Woods? Other then being a great golfer he really pretty much blows off the fans and walks right by them signing nothing. He does react to the fans when on the course but its just reacting to them cheering for him and him soaking it up like some over hyped rock star. I think he has been great for the game but other then that I'm not a fan of TW. I would also use to think he was a stand up guy but that kind of went out the window.
|
Re: The Masters 2010
Never met the guy, just love his passion for the game. I don't really have a favorite golfer per se, I just like seeing the guys get out there. Woods, Mickelson, Els, Furyk, etc. Don't really care who wins.

I do not like or dislike him from a personal standpoint because personally I do not know the guy. What I do know is that if it were not for him that I might not be playing golf at this point in my life. The way that the man has dominated the sport has made it interesting, fun, and relevant. Before Tiger I thought that Golf was a lame sport that old people played because it didn't require running. Not since Bobby Jones has there been such a young following of the sport. This appreciation of Tiger had absolutely nothing to do with his personal life, it had to do with his youthfullness and dominance of the sport. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Great post, Angry. Totally agree.
Phil and Els both at -1 under, Cabrera at -2. It's still early. Currently 24 players under par. Tiger tees it up at 1:42. I'll have my eye on that. I also really like Camillo Villegas/Rory Mcilroy/Kenny Perry grouping. Looks like weather could be a problem later this afternoon. T-storms likely. It's really windy out there, too. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Furyk with the double bogey on 10, yikes. Tiger teeing off shortly.
|
Re: The Masters 2010
Furyk also just hit two in the water at 16 and is putting for a triple bogey. Phil is 5 under tied for the lead. If you go on to the masters sight you can watch Amen Corner today.
|
Re: The Masters 2010
damn.. furyk's messing up
yeah saw that on the ad yesterday.. might check it out in a min |
Re: The Masters 2010
Tiger Woods owes me no apology. Go ahead tigre! On the course or off, work that signature stroke. Do it for the hommies!
|
Re: The Masters 2010
good to see Watson doing well since dude rarely makes it
|
Re: The Masters 2010
I will be interested in seeing how Phil got to 5 under today. He has hit the ball so bad off the T I just didn't see a 5 under coming from him today. I also notice my sleeper pick Fred Couples had a good day at 4 under. They are under a tornado watch and are suppose to get a heavy rain tonight so the scores could be lower tomorrow. The greens there have a vacume type system under them and they can suck the moister out of the greens to speed them up as needed. Its pretty cool as they can soak the greens and cut on this machine and they are dry in minutes.

Re: The Masters 2010
Go Tiger Go!...Two Eagles and a near miss on a third...wow. All the haters can suck it!

Re: The Masters 2010
And just like that, barring a meltdown on these last two holes, Tiger will have logged his best opening round ever at the Masters. So much for rust and distractions. I personally find it impossible not to cheer for him when he's on the course.
Couples looking like a revelation at age 50 at -6. |
Re: The Masters 2010
I like seeing Watson do well. Especially because he turns like 61 or something this year.
|
Re: The Masters 2010
Its also good to see Tiger hold it down...I was worried that he would buckle under the pressure.
|
Re: The Masters 2010
So, I'm missing it. What hole and tell me, Tiger just nailed an Eagle?
|

Tiger had a few eagles today, the most recent coming on 15. He just tapped in for par on 18, -4 for the day, which is two strokes better than any opening round he's ever played at Augusta. He missed three or four really makeable birdie puts too. He could easily be -7. Surprisingly good round for TW today. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Yeah I think his other one was on the 8th.. just caught some of the replay since I mostly watched the baseball games

It's a shame that a couple of birdies wouldn't go down for him though. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Hey he eventually gets it in every hole!

Don't send him a link to the Eagle Cam or he might be in Norfolk Va climbing a tree or maybe he can pull up the site and use it as soft porn. Nothing like replacing chicks with an Eaglet. |
Re: The Masters 2010
I think the announcers actually play with themself when they are talking about and watching TW play golf. I've had to watch just about every one of his shots played over and over and there are several guys who did shoot a better round. God now I know why I don't like TW its because of the Fing announcers and their boner fo him. I actually think these announcer are jealous over the girls Tiger had an afair with and whish it was them. Come on I want highlights of yesterday round not of TW. Its like ESPN took 20min to talk about everything Tiger did and then "Oh, by the way Couples is leading and Phil is one behind now back to talking about Tiger".

LOOOOOL...:food-smil |
Re: The Masters 2010
It sucks that coverage doesn't start until 4pm. Couples, Barnes, Westwood, and Tiger (all at the top of the leader board) are all playing right now.

There are a few sites with a live feed:

Re: The Masters 2010
You know, I appreciate the Tiger updates on ESPN because I am interested in how he's playing, but I have to LOL at the media orgy over him. On the bottom line yesterday at one point "Breaking News" flashed across the screen, so I was like, oh, I wonder what happened. It said, "Tiger Woods hits 2nd shot on 3rd hole near the bunker and will try to chip on to the green." HA! That's breaking news?? Anyway, I just think it's funny.

ESPN has a video feed of that as well. And yes, coverage doesn't start until 4pm on ESPN. Usually with these golf tournaments coverage begins at 2 or 3pm. |

Was that on CNN?LOL Don't get me wrong I think TW is great for golf and there is a void when he is not there but come on give Couples his due and the other leaders the same attention. I know he he is just coming back but they did this before he got busted. |
Re: The Masters 2010
Given the scores, it looks like the course it playing much harder today.
Anyway, the leader (Couples) is through 10 holes will be done with his round before coverage even begins. That sucks. |

Re: The Masters 2010
Boom Boom came back to Earth today. Watson's hanging on, but I see him fading back as the weekend wears on. Nice to see them both at the top of the leaderboard yesterday.
Looks like Westwood might just make a run. 4 under today through 12 after a 67 yesterday. Poulter shot back to back 68s, and Tiger's just waiting to pounce. |
