Redskins Trading Cards

Someone made the suggestion that we have football cards for avatars and it gave me the idea of making some Skins cards. Yes, I "borrowed" some card designs of my childhood, but I did the rest of the work. I love the looks of the vintage trading cards. Here's a few. I may do more later if I find some spare time.

Enjoy!

I like the Fletcher card the best, but that one also took the most time with the name. I did these in Paintbrush. :D

So your cards are from around the late 80's early 90's.

A few '70s also. The cards from my childhood...back when I thought cards would be worth a fortune and they ended up being worth absolutely nothing because they printed so many. :D

I tried to pick photos that would look as dated as the cards instead of crystal-clear ones that would look obviously pasted on, since I was using scans of actual old cards as a base.

Thanks for the compliments.

It was fun, will probably do more someday. Feel free to save/use/do whatever you want with them.

1990 Pro Set
I used to love those Pro Set cards. They were sharp looking.

Monkeydad 04-21-2010 10:23 AM

Re: Redskins Trading Cards

Yeah, Pro Sets were my favorites. They looked great and were inexpensive.

Did you have the "rare" Santa Claus card too? :D

That Moss card was fairly easy to make, I modified an Art Monk scanned card, so "WR * REDSKINS" was already on the bottom.

Lots of memories. Even though the only football cards I collected were from 1990 I still collected a lot of baseball cards and remember these styles. This is crazy though. Great job.

Oh any chance you could make a Tony Romo card of him getting sacked or fumbling a snap? Maybe a drunk Jerry Jones card. Lol speak of the devil, right after I type Jerry Jones he shows up on the Tele.

It's funny I started a similar thing last season to use as avatars but for some odd reason I abandoned the idea after I made one, any way here it is: Keep up the good work!

Yea I remember that I wanted them to reflect the Skins more that's why I changed them to the team colors. Perhaps I'll continue and make some avatars.

Yours looks great, the way they should have looked. They're far better quality than the originals.

I tried to keep mine looking "vintage" for the older card styles. I was using MS Paint for all of them too. :laughing2

Might as well swap our the remaining blue text for burgundy.

Yea, it was a work in progress that's probably why it's still blue.
