Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

The Tebow hype continues...

Thats why.

So many bottom of dresser draws will be lined with Tebow jerseys in the next few years.

Re: Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

Does anyone know what % of profits, if any, that each team and player makes for their jersey sales?

I'm not sure if it's still the same, but if I remember right a couple of years ago at least it was something like the NFL gets 13% of all merchandise sales and that's split across all 32 teams.

That applies to sales made at NFLShop.com and third-party sites. Redskins get a larger cut if the jersey is bought at one of their stores, but not sure what it is.

In conclusion...I don't know the answer to your question

Rainy Parade 05-06-2010 09:27 AM

Re: Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

so in other words, it doesn't matter if you have McNabb or Tebow... all the teams get the same cut? like a revenue share?

SmootSmack 05-06-2010 09:36 AM

Re: Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

Depends on where the jersey was bought

hooskins 05-06-2010 09:37 AM

Re: Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

yeah I was wondering that yesterday too. Players dont get a cut at all huh?

Kind of sucks. I think it is true. Thats why EA can have rights to a players name for madden, because they just get the rights from the league. Players dont get extra for that. I remember some of the players on the madden "classic" teams sued because their names were being used improperly.

Re: Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

I think players do get a small cut.

I remember when LaVar wasn't letting his jersey be made it was because he wasn't happy with the % and wanted more, so I'm pretty sure they get something.

The NFLPA also gets a cut (not sure how much) which is then distributed among the players somehow

Right beside my Champ Bailey. And about the same time maybe McNabb also. I just dont see this lasting more than 2-3 yrs.

cmon guys, we're all too old to be wearing jerseys (unless you're at a live game, or perhaps if you are in a sports bar for the sole purpose of wathing a game of that team).

i remember there was some issue with LaVar's jersey... incidently i have a burgundy lavar56 jersey by Nike. since it's so rare and impossible to find.... i'd be happy to sell it to one of you uber-fan merch collectors for a very high price!

Kickin' around on the weekend I might throw on a jersey, non-Redskin ones too. I just bought a couple of classics, Walter Payton and Earl Campbell.

Unless you're 75 I don't think anybody is too old to rock a jersey.

well, it's "soft" from a wearable mesh standpoint, but i dont think it's the kind of soft you're looking for. either way... PM your best offer!

I tend to agree with you on this one. A jersey to the game or a sports bar ok but as an actually go to item in your closet, ah no.

people who look stupid are always the last to know....

just kidding! yea, i hear ya. and hell, when i reach 75 i'll be in "i'm 75, i can do whatever the hell i want" mode.

payton/cambell are nice classics.

my wife's a steelers fan. i bought her one of those nice women's cut jerseys a few years ago. #7. now she hates him....

Reading that made me think of this quote from "Forgetting Sarah Marshall". I can imagine you lounging around all day rockin a jersey, some sweatpants, and a pair of crocks at which point in time you would be better off just giving up on life. :)
Oh, if they were Sean Jean sweatpants it would be no problem, but because they were Costco brand, it's the worst thing I could do.
Tebow was meant to go to the Mile High City so that he could be closer to God!!! Send this to at least 10 friends as an act of communion!!!

No sweats. I have some flannel bottoms for the winter, but if I'm lounging around the house it's usually with shorts and a t-shirt kinda deal

That's idiotic.

He's an overhyped rookie. Their jersey sales are always up at first. Last year, Michael Crabtree was in the Top 5 for a while.

Idiotic? I'm sure that some of it has to do with the religious following.

Sure, I'm sure a few religious people have bought them...but that wouldn't be enough to fuel a #1 jersey sales rank.

The term "Bible beaters" was the most idiotic part of the post.

I would think the NFL and teams would share the profit from the sale of products to the skins stores then the skins make their profits off the sales at the stores. Same would go to any store that sells NFL products.

Ok, you keep telling yourself that. Good thing is you left yourself a pretty big window. Do you sport these when weaing your jersey?

Re: Tebow leads April jersey sales (McNabb #2)

I dont think Tebow's sales have much to do with religious people picking one up to complement their WWJD caps, but more to do with him being one of the best college players ever and a complete badass. Just like when Reggie Bush had crazy jersey sales when he was a rookie.

Also Lavar wouldnt license his number to Madden for a long time either. It would be a shame players dont get a decent percentage of their jersey sales.
