Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Redskins General Manager Bruce Allen said today the team hasn't begun contract extensions talks with quarterback Donovan McNabb.
"We know there will be a time and place to address that, but right now we're focused on trying to have as good a minicamp we can, a healthy minicamp ... there will be plenty of time to have those discussions," Allen said during an appearance on ESPN 980. Gold pants!!!!!

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I wonder how long Kevin Sheehan pestered Allen over Haynesworth during the interview.

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I'm guessing we're going to see 70s style throwbacks, George Allen style

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
That is my favorite uniform.
They talked about it on NFL network the other night. They asked the panel in attendance which teams throwbacks was their favorite and I was surprised the majority of the groups favorite was the Redskins uniform with the gold pants^(above). |

You could sense the fact he was searching. Allen's response continues to be the same as it's been all along. Eventually they'll get the message. As for the uniforms, I really don't care what type they wear, I just want to win football games. Now if a particular type uniform will help us do that, then I'll have a preferance. I'm sure McNabbs contract will get done in due time. |

Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
why do we refer to those pants as gold? they arent. i'm sure there's a proper name for the color, but i'd call it slightly orangish yellow - like the text font for "warpath" on the top of the site here.
the only time ive ever seen true gold in a redskins uniform were those throwbacks with the spear. i don't thing burgundy and gold is any more accurate a description of our uniform colors than maroon and black... well, the maroon part atleast. not sure where zorn got black from. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Good nugget of info here regarding McNabb's contract from Twitter:
SalaryCap 101 McNabb can't execute a new contract with Redskins until mid-June, 12 months from last executed contract.
|

yeah, smootsmack told us about that a while back. i was wondering why allen didn't just come out and say that. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Please no gold pants! We'll look like the Ronald McDonald brigade...YUK!!!

I'd love it. This is far more likely than the Spear set.
Yeah but if McNabb has to wear that facemask then we might see some problems. What the hell is that suppose to protect anyway? |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I like the gold pants but I am partial to the current uniform that we won Super Bowls in.

Are you a new Skins fan? :D |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
They're wearing (allegedly) special uniforms for the season opener. Not exactly sure what though
|
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I love the old gold pants.
Bighair, there is organic gold and metallic gold. Our gold is organic gold. |

Hardly, I have been a 'Skins fan for many many years. I fondly recall the Over-The-Hill-Gang, but was never fond of the gold pants, etc. I just like the current uni but wouldn't mind seeing them tweeked a little. ^ We should dress the team EXACTLY like this except the M can be an R.

Maybe that's what happens when you hang out with Andy Pollin a lot. |

Oh, c'mon. The red and white striped sleeves and huge red shoes would be so intimidating to other teams.... :) |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I don't care what the team wears as long as they win .. Although the Gold pants would be pretty cool lol
|

I dont' care what the uniforms look like, so long as we win :)

Yuk, get out of here. Gold pants with a pink tops are so in right now. I just can't wait. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
On thing i noticed in the interview it seemed like Kevin and Tom were trying to get a negative sound bite about Haynseworth, but Allen wouldn't bite.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was the Allen-era throwback, seems like something the FO would do for excitement/hype. |

Yeah I think that I was one of the few who actually liked it.

Yeah it looks good with the script R helmet it might look even better with our regular one. Side note: when at team tweaks or changes their uniforms they end up doing a complete turn around go deep into the playoffs or win the Super Bowl. Examples: The Broncos win the SB twice. Tampa Bay win the SB. Oilers change to Titans make it to the SB. Patriots win the SB 3 times. Seattle goes to the SB. San Diego become a real contender. Also dont forget 1982 when the Washington Redskins had the tucked feathers for one season and we won the SB and the following year we switched back. It didnt work for Detroit or did it they went from 0-16 to 2-14. It seems that more than often when a team changes their uniforms positive things start to happen, so bring on them Gold pants. |
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
Wouldn't it be great if we had burgundy and gold for home games and gold and white for road games? I liked those throwbacks we wore in '07 too.
|
Re: Bruce Allen on McNabb extension, Haynesworth and uniforms
I would like to see a redskin uni that incorporates a full black unifor. I think that would be sweet. The burgandy and gold with black pants and jersey. It would look sharp.

Black would look like utter @#%&. The trend of adding black to uniforms is thankfully dying. They all looked horrible. The only team that pulled it off was the Lions. Not their black jerseys, but the black facemasks and accents looked OK for them. Then there were disasters like the Eagles. Adding black for fashion/jersey sales/no good reason is a horrible idea. Not only does it not use your team's real color scheme, it usually looks bad. The Skins would look worse than most teams in black. We have one of the nicest looking color schemes in the NFL...we need to utilize it. |
