Great info and history about the Warpath...press pass to training camp, that is pretty f*ing cool...too bad that got denied. Good good stuff Matty, thanks for sharing RP

Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
Interesting to read the other responses, though it seems for the most part we're all on the same page.

Nice read, so where in NY did you grow up? |
Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
Upstate, early on in the Finger Lakes region, but mostly in the Albany area.

Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
Good tactic to get the owner to let you get past the "no promoting" rule...promote the owner!
:laughing- |

Yeah the other site response to "rival website" was pretty interesting as well as other teams fans coming on to the site...i kinda like when another team fans comes on to talk smack and their serious discussion takes give good perspective....when it comes to a "rival site" its like whatever...there are no rivals to the WP...we stand alone on top |
Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
I think we're the only one of the major Redskins fan sites that hasn't had internal unrest (particularly at the front office level) that led to major departures and renegade fan sites.
We've joked about it of course (April Fools 2006 I believe) but it's actually happened elsewhere |

I'm a "Jersey" guy, went to school in the Millburn /Short Hills area and then moved down the shore to the Seagirt/ Springlake area. |

SB XVII got me hooked. Plus it helped that my parents ran a sports bar growing up so we had all the games every weekend. |

Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
Really nice read. I've also interacted with guys on here who, though I may never meet in person, I consider friends. Guys who had a kind word during some recent trying times. I'm not ashamed to say it....I love the WARPATH!!!

Do I live there now? You are only half way right. |
Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
Don't know if this is appropriate or not, but was Joe Crisp beefing with the F.O.? He seemed like a pretty cool guy.
|
Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
I don't think he had any problems with anyone here. I think he was more frustrated with the Redskins. Plus he had other things going, new job, first child. Best of luck to him wherever he is and whatever he's doing

They have the best Mock Draft on the web, anywhere! I don't frequent often, but find most posters extremely knowledgeable. I found Warpath first, and of course prefer it 5-1. I respect Akh from HR the most. He is beyond a doubt, the most intelectual guy you could ever find. His opinions seem to carry the most weight over there, and he can stuff ten cow-not-quite-men posters in his socks. His face offs with those cowgirl posters are epic! I've met a couple of the HR guys at a FEDEX tailgate. |

Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
Matty is right about Larry Michael...I never get anything useful out of him.

Re: Football Fandom in the Internet Age: interview with MattyK!
WP: The Redskins were an early adapter I believe in regard to trying to control the information that comes out of Redskins Park as far as creating Redskins TV, acquiring their own message board, etc. And then there was the spat with the Washington Post, and in the end I think their desire for more control has reflected very poorly on them. I mean does anyone take what Larry Michael has to say seriously? And then you had Vinny Cerrato doing a radio show… fans can see right through stuff like this and the Redskins have certainly done a good job at pumping out some serious BS over the past few years.
Best response to any question by anyone...great job Matty :food-smil |
