Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues

Not good. I hope McNabb or someone can get in Thomas' ear. I can't believe I'm considering this, but maybe, we should sign TO. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
in the report jason admits he doesnt really know jack about what going on
|
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
he just did a video with Fantasia. . his mind might be in other places.. we'll see I guess
|
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
I mean theres only so consistent you can be when dealing w a hamstring injury. I also got to say it, I am really wishing we held onto Marko

It sounds like the problem is the offense as a whole. And I doubt a seventh rounder who looked good in the preseason is the answer. Personally, I'm curious to see how the running game and the offensive line are going to work out, but we won't see this (as much with anything else) until training camp. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
An aggressive Pittsburgh stlye defense is what I've been looking forward to.

Yea and whats new, other than he admits he is an outsider and clueless. I look for DT to step up and have a strong season under The Shanny's |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
Well that was a whole lot of fluff with very little substance. In fact I gained only that the defense is excited about Hazlett bringing about change.
|
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
I honestly believe Kelly beats out thomas by years end.
|
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
I'll tell you who's consistent. And that's Albert Haynesworth. Day in and day out he's putting in the same amount of effort at Redskin Park.
|
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
That's a big surprise......a new offense behind the pace of a new defense, that never happens :frusty:
Jason Reid: What can I write about......I haven't seen the OTAs and really don't know what the hell's going on, but I do have some texts to go from....let's throw some $hit on the wall and see what sticks. But at least the guy admits where he's coming from, so he gets credit for being up front about it. |

A very well stated double, no, triple bummer! |

I have to agree with you. the FO will sort it out i have faith whoever don't fit/work will get cut. HTTR. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
Why is there a Devin Thomas "inconsistency" thread and we're only in OTAs?
|
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues

Because we're only in OTAs and there is no news. |

Ain't that the truth. Is it the pre-season yet. Is it the pre-season yet. NO BE QUIET. (reminds me of a kid in the backseat of the car are we their yet.) |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
This thread deserves a big fat
 It's June, new offense, new QB, new coaches, pads aren't even on yet, there's going to be an adjustment period. No need to panic and hit the TO button. |

It's a worthy thread, just a little early to panic is all :) |

I like the conversation starter, mainly because Thomas is a guy who could have enormous potential (despite they naysayers' comments). Unfortunately there's just not much substance in the reports this time of year. It's discouraging to hear about more muscle issues...our WR corp is just plagued w/ that shit year after year. Annoying! But ultimately nothing has changed. We know Devin is a physical freak. I believe he's probably the most athletic player on offense. It's a question of skill. Can he run crisp routes? Can he learn to create separation? Can he learn to be a great receiver? At the end of the day...he's a Michigan State product, so I still like his chances :) |

I apologize if I came across rudely. I was referring to JR's lack of content in his article, not your passing it on in this thread. Thanks for giving us something to talk about. HTTR |

The real question is, does he want to be a baller or is he leaning more to being some type of attention hound TMZer. A Fantasia video, Photo shoots he seems to like that stuff. I mean you can do your thang I aint hatin but I hope he has his stuff together. |

Thanks for giving us something to talk about. HTTR
Exactly that. We'll complain each day about the lack of substance in these threads.. But - let's face it, we're stretching a season that is 5-6 months long to 12 months, 365 days a year. If no one cared about this article, there wouldn't be a page full of responses about it. To quote Jim Redskin - "Thanks for giving us something to talk about." That being said, the article is a piece of crap. <grin> New offense, new patterns, give the guy until preseason to get it before trashing him. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
If he is consistently inconsistent, is that a step forward?

Now, now thats just silly. Fat Al is coming to town in mere days we have him to talk about again, it should be good this time COACH working the shit outta fat boy. Now that would be gross misconduct to miss out on that action. Unless he doesn't show then we will have even more to talk about..... |

I wanna hear more about Silverback!

Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
Why is there a Devin Thomas "inconsistency" thread and we're only in OTAs?
Because of Redskins fans obsession on blaming one and just one player on everything that goes wrong. |

Not good. I hope McNabb or someone can get in Thomas' ear. I can't believe I'm considering this, but maybe, we should sign TO.
I think its way too early to get down on the receivers, which seems like the implication of the piece. And one small pet peeve, how the heck does Jason Reid know what the Shanahan's are looking for in terms of consistency during OTA's?
he hasn't displayed the type of play-after-play consistency the Shanahans like to see from that position.
Anyway, we all share your concern over the WR position. Imo, its the biggest question mark heading into the season. Can one of our young receivers step up? The departure of ARE leaves at least 50 catches to split-up. Will there be 1 or 2 feature receivers, or will there be more of a production by committee approach? Personally, i think that Devin Thomas could be very successful running the same type of stuff that DeSean Jackson ran in Philly. And take over some of Tana's targets on screens, drags, fly patterns and hitches nothing tough that requires great hands or sharp patterns or reading the defense. If you give Thomas a package of plays that are that emphasize the skill he showed at Michigan St. i think he could blossomas deep threat/playmaker. |

Still don't know why he was cut, especially with this competition kick that the Shanahan's were on. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
So how do our receivers rank in terms of pure speed? Is Moss the fastest? It never seemed to me like any one on our team had breakaway speed, so I just wondered where all our receivers stack up, both on the team, and against other receivers in the league.

I'd say Moss is still the fastest WR, followed by Banks (assuming he makes the team), Galloway (still think he has some speed left) T. Austin, Thomas, and Kelly. That should rank in the top 15, assuming we keep 6 WRs (doubt it). I'd bet to think we have the fastest WR's overall in the NFC East team, but speed alone almost never wins games. |

He's a 7th rounder from a former staff that doesn't play special teams. Not sure there's much else to say. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
TheJBexperience; I with you. In past yrs I would have said no to ever signing T.O. Although his Philli tantrum was not 10 yrs ago, I do feel he's somewhat removed from that incident but everyone loves to bring it up like he's a cancer. He is the best WR on the market at this point to which we would not have to trade or throw draft picks at to get. At this point I too would be thinking about bringing him in cause he would need time to learn the scheme and play calls.
mlmpetert; I agree with you also there's only so much you can do when injured especially with a hammy. Which brings me back to why the "F" do are players seem to always get hammies? Moss is our notorious and his seems to re-occure every yr. I hope thats not the case for Thomas. I Moss is the Hammy/Groin pull player of the team. Warpaint; I some how doubt Kelly steps up also. I would put more money on his knees swelling again this yr and he not being able to practice .... again vs. the light switch all of a sudden switching on. You guys are funny.... excuses, excuses, excuses.... their like A-holes and everyone has one. How about we stop making up the excuses for Thomas and Kelly at this point and admit they might not be what we expected them to be. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
Why is there a Devin Thomas "inconsistency" thread and we're only in OTAs?
Because we are not hearing how Moss has been inconsistant, or Armstrong, or Banks, or even Austin. Maybe the spot light is simply on Thomas and Kelly only but I doubt it when I keep hearing about Armstrong running good routes and catching passes all day. |
Re: Devin Thomas' inconsistency continues
It's got nothing to do with excuses, these are WRs entering their 3rd seasons. It typically takes 2-3 seasons for WRs to fully blossom. How about we try to have a little patience considering we're not even into August yet?

HTTR.
I'm guessing the coaching staff will figure it out but I doubt the team cuts 2 second round WR's they threw a lot of money at. Maybe they will. At least your blind faith is centered on the coaching staff being able to get it right vs. the players being able to all of a sudden become super stars. |

Funny at this point I would have said Banks, Austin, Moss, Thomas, Wade and Galloway might be tied, and last Kelly. I think Moss has slowed a bit due to age and groin pulls. lol. |

I am. I'm not throwing them out with the bath water just yet. I'm just tired of the "Oh don't worry they will be our #1 and #2", "You'll see they are gunna step up any day now", "this is their 3rd yr and that means they are gunna bust out" mentality. All I'm hoping for is that the coaching staff has made contingiency plans for if Thomas and Kelly don't step up, and Galloway and Wade are not my ideas of contingiency plans. I truly hope everyone is at some point telling me "I told you so." |
