Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
If you are a betting man Bodog has some lines:
Total wins in the 2010 Regular Season? Over 7 1/2 (Even) Under 7 1/2 (-130) What will be the result of his first called pitch? Ball +120 Strike -150 Total strikeouts in the game Over 5 1/2 (-130) Under 5 1/2 (Even) Total innings pitched in the game Over 6 (-130) |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Mike Stanton of the Florida Marlins is debuting today as well. He has a chance to be a Ryan Howard type. Should be a good day for baseball. woooooooooooo!

Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
He's starting on one of my fantasy teams too.
I predict: 6 IP, 2 ER, 1 BB, 6 K...and the WIN. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Got my tickets in hand and I'm ready to go. I'm pretty psyched for today, should be amazing watching his first game. And it'll be nice seeing a sellout crowd at Nats Park as well.
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
I could care less about him or the Nats and I hope he does well for the most part.
But a little small evil part of me hopes he gets shelled. I don't know why. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
well, enjoy nats fans. no hate from this Os fan. you all have had a rough start to things (100+ losses the past 2 seasons?) so i do wish you all the best.

Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
i want teddy to finally win the presidential footrace. in front of a sellout. speculation:

Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
I can't wait to head out to the ballpark, I have seats in section 133. It's going to be crazy seeing the stadium 100% packed and mostly full of Nationals fans. The last time the park was filled when I was there was the Philly game and of course we all know how many of them were Phillies fans, though there was a good turnout on June 4th.
It'd be awesome to see Teddy win, especially on Strasburg's debut, that has been the rumor for a long time now, that he would win on his debut, so hopefully it happens! Going to get a lot of camera footage tonight! |

Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Funny thing, I bought them the day they said he would debut June 8th. I think it was like the 30th or 31st of May.
There was a lot to choose from at the time, but like 35min later everything was gone. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Funny thing happened to me the other day. So the guy that promised me tickets called me Monday and said the deal fell through and he had tickets for Wednesday's game instead. Obvi, I was upset.
So today I'm stepping on the Metro with an Express (newspaper) in hand around 12:45 and noticed the Nats were selling standing only tickets (2,000 to be exact) at 1 PM. I was like, shit, I'm only three stops away, I can get off at Navy Yard. When I got there, there was hardly no line to speak of, and in about 30 minutes I had two tickets. Pretty pumped!! |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Nice man glad you got them, surprised there was no line, I guess people didn't pay attention.

Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
I have Comcast and live in NOVA. This game isn't going to be in HD is it? I think the Orioles game gets MASNHD tonight...oh well.
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
that zimmerman homer should give strasburg a little breathing room.
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Just gave up a hit. Bust! Send him back down
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
People are pulling the crap out of him...
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Roughed up a bit in the last inning. Want to see how he bounces back from that. His repertoire is sick though
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Wow! I just yelled at the tv (Nationals) to give Steve a couple of runs and BOOM! 2 HRs
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
This is unreal! I'm really curious to see how his second starts is.
I know these are the Pirates we're talking about but still..the way Strasburg is mixing it up is phenomenal. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
The kid sure has nasty stuff
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
7 IP, 4 H, 2 ER, 0 BB, 14 K
All I can say is...Damn.
I have Comcast and live in NOVA. This game isn't going to be in HD is it? I get both MASN and MASN2 in HD, along with a buttload of other channels that weren't previously offered in HD. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
great outing for the young gun. great night for the nats and dc.
nats record for most Ks (14) by a pitcher. he did it in 7 innings and on top of that, it was his first start. dayum. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
This young gun will be as good as advertised. Great way to start at home.
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Totally surpassed my expectations. And I expected him to do pretty well. Here's to the start of some fun Nationals baseball!

masn2hd is 844.. at least in waldorf, it just shows up as MASN2 on ther listings but it's the HD channel.. masnhd is repeated on 845 aside from just being on 247 it doesn't come up with the automatic switch to HD option but then again, neither does MASN |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
well I was at work but they're replaying it at 1130

Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Nationals Park was ELECTRIC. I've never heard that place so loud in my life!
Nationals Park was ELECTRIC. I've never heard that place so loud in my life!
Man I hear that. It was a crazy atmostphere, the place was going buck wild after every strike he threw. And just seeing him pitch was unbelievable. I was so lucky, I bought two tickets in section 130 off craigslist on sat. for 115 bucks apiece. I was going crazy last week that I pretty much emailed anybody who was selling tickets on CL and then I hit this guy up and he said I was the first who would just buy and didn't try to negotiate first. I don't really care that I didn't negotiate with him because I thought it was a great deal compared to what other seats in that section were going for. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
Yeah, I paid $46 for section 133, so you only paid a little over double which is pretty good. My brother found tickets for closer, the $65 ones, guy wanted $300 a piece, he said the hell with that. Didn't mind over paying, but not that much.

lol came back here watching the replay to mention this very point.. I guess when the stadium is full and there's something to be excited about even baseball can get loud.. tired of the mets and phillies fans being louder than ours I think that it's safe to say that Strasburg Nights are going to be pretty well visited |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
mmm no walks
|
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
This guy was ridiculous last night. I don't even follow baseball that much nor do I know much about it, but even I knew this guy was amazing last night.
Stephen Strasburgh, Bryce Harper, John Wall, Donovan McNabb, Ovechkin...DC sports are on the rise!!!!! |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
The ball park was ridic. Never seen the stadium so loud from start to finish, and fans were bouncing off the walls after that final strike/out. I felt like someone dropped me in Yankees stadium or somewhere.
Totally blew past any expectations. He was throwing some crazy sh*t across the plate - just crazy! Funny, I think it took the umps a few innings to adjust to his stuff. Welcome to D.C., Mr. Strasburg!! |

Over 7 1/2 Under 7 1/2 Number of strangers I man-hug during the game Over 3 Under 3
So I didn't man-hug any strangers, but I did high five people like we were on the set of Miami Vice. One of those people happened to be Mr. London Fletcher, who we saw walking through the concourse around the 8th inning. No one else seemed to recognize him. |
Re: The Official Stephen Strasburg MLB Debut Thread
One of those rare moments in sports where a guy comes in with a ton of hype and actually lives up to it, or exceeds it in this case. I'm not a baseball guy but I kept switching over to the game and I caught all the highlights right after it.
