Sean and Furrey
Redskins have released Sean Ryan and signed WR Mike Furrey

Re: Sean and Furrey
Continueing moves to bring in teamless Vet WRs speaks to what Shanny's thinks of our current WR situation, he's not satisfied and sees it as an issue.
|
Re: Sean and Furrey
It's almost as if the current guys are really struggling or something, so we need competition from guys like Mike Furrey. But I'm told that our 2008 draft class will come through in the end, so I guess it's just a matter of time until guys like Furrey and Galloway are released.

Re: Sean and Furrey
oh whoops.. didn't see this when I posted in the WR thread
Smoot 8 minutes ahead of Schefter Furrey has had a more than interesting career so far |
Re: Sean and Furrey
We should bring in Kevin Curtis.
|
Re: Sean and Furrey
Yesterday or Monday they had a piece on the SKINS website about Ryan and how well he was working in and he was blocking "old school" style and his chances looked good. Ole well that was then, it's a new day.
Today his chances are not looking so well....good luck somewhere,I guess. I really like the competition, the more the merrier! Big Name or No Name let the best 53 football players become our 2010 REDSKINS. |

At this point, why not? |
Re: Sean and Furrey
We already have 12 guys on the roster at receiver, so more additions will probably have to wait until 4 of them play themselves out of an opportunity at this weeks mini camp.

He was no better than Yoder but, drafting Morris probably killed his chances of sticking. |

Spot on. |
Re: Sean and Furrey
Another veteran receiver?? We have them now in all shapes, sizes and ages. Talk about competition, it dosen't get any better than this.

Re: Sean and Furrey
Two words.....
Terrell Owens |

I know there only giving there opinion but it don't look good when there dropped the next day. |

Terrell Owens
Two words. NO THANKS |

This guy is like Kevin Curtis and Reed Doughty combined! |
Re: Sean and Furrey
Kevin Curtis seemed to drop a lot of deep balls that hit him in stride. He definitely had his share of connections though too with Dono.

Re: Sean and Furrey
:nono:The way its looking we are on the verge of signing K.McCardell and I.Bruce......JK
Shanny is just screwin with these young guys heads, either give me everything you got or go to the unemployment line. Shanny knows how to motivate players, remember HAT DAY someone posted it a while back and T.Davis was so stoked they got to wear hats instead of helmets. |

Terrell Owens
Two more...Throw Up! |
Re: Sean and Furrey
I like this mike furrey guy, simply because he's like smaller offensive version of lorenzo alexander. he could play some FS this year for us and is a great special teamer and regular receiver. I like this signing. The sean ryan release was good because we released him with Dennis Morris. I'll take the Morris kid over sean ryan any day of the week.

Re: Sean and Furrey
Everyone wants to hate on TO.I'LL take him in a heartbeat for a 1 year contract. The first TD he would score would make every skins fan moist in their underware in a good way.
|
Re: Sean and Furrey
Honestly I have always liked T.O as a football player, the guy always brought his A game.. He never took games off (Randy Moss) So why not? Hell he may step in and play at a high level again.
|
Re: Sean and Furrey
^I agree we need TO, he's still got plenty left in the tank, and would be the number one receiver here like he wants to be, and Everyone would want to see him with McNabb again. TO's better than atleast 3/4 of our WR's that we have now.

We don't necessarily need TO, but it doesn't hurt bringing him in. Once again, people get all sulky about him, the guy didn't say a pip in Buffalo and I'm sure Shanny would bring him for the right price. |
Re: Sean and Furrey
I highly doubt they signed him for safety, just camp foddler for WR competition.

We can be the 2007 Philadelphia Eagles! |
Re: Sean and Furrey
Furrey is an interesting guy. In 2006 he had 98 catches for the Lions. He hasn't done much since but still, interesting nonetheless.
|
Re: Sean and Furrey
I liked the Sean Ryan signing at the time, but in trusting the coaching staff, I hope this means the rookie is showing promising signs of what they need to see from him.
Furrey is only interesting in that I want to see how the final WR corp shakes out. I wouldn't be surprised if they bring these guys in just to have fresh faces, and in the end, they don't last. TO is always welcome here by me on a 1 year deal, maybe 2 but no more than that. |
Re: Sean and Furrey
This tells me that TO still hasn't lowered his asking price. He's stupid to let money and ego at this point in his career stop him from playing football. I still think TO and Westbrook will be skins by the time the season starts.

Re: Sean and Furrey
the more the merrier! wide receivers galore!

Re: Sean and Furrey
My cousin and I know Mike Furrey personally. When he played for the NY Dragons (AFL) my cousin was a equipment manager for them and a personal trainer and I ran the teams website. Furrey still calls my Cousin on a regular basis for training tips. He is a really cool and and a hard worker, let's hope he can contribute.

Nice. Think he would do a Q&A with us at some point? |

Great story..how soon until you're rockin' the Furrey avatar? |
Re: Sean and Furrey
I'll see what I can do about a Q & A. lol on the av.

Re: Sean and Furrey
As someone else said we might as well bring in TO as a stop gap for a year or two. He's better than all of these scrubs that they're brining in. Actually he's still better than anyone we have on our roster. He toned it down a bit in Buffalo and I think he realizes that he has to act right if he wants to continue his career.

Uh oh, you F-ed up now. lol. When I mentioned this it got shot down fast by two groups of people.... The first group simply hates T.O. and thinks he's too old, getting worse and sucks. The second group thinks T.O. is too good of a player and Thomas and Kelly would not get a chance to play. There is only a select few of us who know he would help us out for 2 yrs whille Thomas and Kelly get better under the Shanahans. |
Re: Sean and Furrey
I have an idea. We have all these extra WRs -- most of whom will not be here when the season starts -- but we could use some more depth at OL. Let's just take 3 of these aging vets and morph them into 1 fat guy for the OL. Heck, we have enough WRs to do it twice.
Seriously, I am finding it hard to get too excited about these folks for any reason other than that is signals that Shanahan is putting as much pressure on folks to produce as he can, which is a very, very good sign. |

But the more I think about it the more it might make sense. He's already got history w/ McNabb so let him compete and let the chips fall where they may. If Kelly and Thomas show that they can play then release TO. It would be another low risk high reward type of signing. Messing around w/ Galloway and Wade is just a waste of time. |

Well I'm gambling that T.O. would want guarenteed money. I too would take him for a 2 yr deal. He's definitly better then; Galloway Wade R.Williams Armstrong Austin Banks Furrey Hagans Hodge Moss brings something different to the table and for those of you who are infatuated with Thomas and Kelly they still could remain. Moss T.O. Thomas Kelly Armstrong Austin- KR/PR/WR Banks- KR/PR/WR-Practice squad |
