Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
Report: Quanis Phillips was shot, after confrontation with Vick | ProFootballTalk.com
I guess this is the final straw for Vick, even though the lawyer says Vick was not present. Wonder if the eagles will sign Garcia now??? |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
Think we need to wait for some more facts to come out before Vick is declared done. Still, doesn't sound good.

Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
Regardless of whether or not Vick was present at the scene of the shooting, the fact that he's even throwing parties at clubs that run into the early hours of the night is just piss poor judgement on his part given his situation. They'll be plenty of time for clubs and partying when your football career is over, Michael. I guess no one should be surprised.

1st Fact update: I was reading the related articles, and according to a witness, supposedly the man, Phillips, threatened to smash birthday cake in Vick's face, or actually did it. That's what lead to the outside altercation, and shooting. |

Glad there were no dogs involved. I'll wait on the facts before jumping to any conclusions.

He never came across as genuinely remorseful after the whole dog fighting stuff. He always seemed to lean on the "I didn't know what I was doing was illegal" angle. So it's definitely not surprising that he's making piss poor decisions, yet again. |

So ridiculous and soooo stupid. It seems like Vick would have learned that the people he surrounds himself with are not helping him at all.

Exactly! Can't believe he threw a party at a night club. Have the party at your house, not a night club. It looks like he's still hanging around with his hood rat friends from the tidewater area. If I were him I wouldn't even go back there. Ever. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
One would think this guy has told investigators by now who shot him, if the shooting was a direct result of a face to face confrontation.

Terms of his probation including not associating with folks from Bad Newz Kennel. Phillips was such an associate. Whoops Mike Vick.
I wonder if a disgruntled dog pulled the trigger. |

Strange......I thought that only happened to dogs? What next? A drowning at a Vick....event?

Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
But but...he's a WINNER!!! I mean sure he can't read a defense or hit an open receiver with his canon arm but he does have speed and I'm pretty sure that he's only getting faster with age.

Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
I'm kinda shocked... after being put in jail for 2 yrs you'd think he'd have some sense never to throw a party, and especiallly not hang around this bum (Phillips) who seems to get in trouble everytime Vick and him hang out, but I won't jump to conclusions until more facts come.

When Goodell reinstated Vick to the NFL last July, he informed Vick in a letter that, “among the conditions of this reinstatement, you are required to abide by the terms of the supervised release that were imposed on you by the court, which include not committing any further crime, limits on who you may associate with, prohibitions regarding drug and alcohol use, possession of a firearm or other dangerous weapon, and forbidding you to own, possess or be involved with the sale of any dog.” |

I'll see how this plays out before I actually comment one way or another. Seems bad judgement on his part to even throw the party at a club one way or another.

If you read the article he is of " no interest" to the police. D-Hall said he as in himself wasn't even at theparty which some people I think are saying he was. He is defending that Vick was not involved in this situation. This was actually via D-Halls twitter. This story isn't over yet but way to many of you guys are crucifing Vick again way to quick. I grew up close to Blacksburg and actually have been able to witness Mike's efforts to clean up his act, and really get involved. He really has done some great things so lets not jump the gun to fast on this one. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
Michael and Marcus Vick = Double trouble. It's strange how the two DICK brothers left at 2am just mere minutes before the real trouble began and the guns came into play.....
Source WAVY.com. WAVY 10 is also a local TV station Man shot after party for Michael Vick Suspect at large Updated: Friday, 25 Jun 2010, 7:07 PM EDT Published : Friday, 25 Jun 2010, 6:30 AM EDT VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) - A fight at Guadalajara in Town Center overnight escalated to gunfire. Police say the fight started inside the restaurant, where a party for NFL star and Newport News native Michael Vick was underway. Security moved the altercation outside. That's when police say someone pulled out a gun and shot a man, at around 2:15 a.m., on Columbus Street. Michael Vick and his brother Marcus were at the party, Guadalajara Executive Partner Allen Fabijan told WAVY.com. He said Michael Vick left in a black Mercedes just before 2 a.m., which he said was captured on a security camera. Fabijan said there were as many as 300 people at the party, which started at 10 p.m. Thursday. The Philadelphia Eagles issued the following statement regarding Michael Vick: "We are aware of the incident that occurred in Virginia early this morning and are in the process of gathering all of the facts. Until then, we will not have any comment on this matter." The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Adam Bernstein with Virginia Beach Police told WAVY.com the victim's vehicle was stopped by State Police on the way to Virginia Beach General Hospital. Bernstein said the victim was uncooperative with police. Virginia Beach Police have not released the victim's name, but 10 On Your Side confirmed that Vick dogfighting co-defendent Quanis Phillips was admitted to Virginia Beach General Hospital early Friday morning with a gunshot wound. The suspect has been described as a heavy set black male, around 5-foot-11-inches to 6-feet tall. Police said the suspect may possibly be driving a late model pearl/white Cadillac Escalade.
And to add to this (and I know firsthand as my restaurant is less than a mile from here) there is close to zero crime in the VB City Center. VBPD protects the City's investment very well. Trouble seems to follow these two idiots wherever they go. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck.....it's probably a duck. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
Roddy White, a receiver for the Atlanta Falcons, said he and Michael Vick were at the party but not at the time of the shooting. Vick had picked him up at the airport earlier in the day for White to assist with Vick's local football camp.
"We were already gone by the time that stuff started happening, so I don't know what's going to go on with that or whatever, but we didn't have anything to do with it," White said on Friday during a break in the youth football camp being held Hampton University. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
a lil off topic, but as a die hard wizards fan as well as a redskins fan, far too often do i hear the "NBA is full of ghetto, tatted-up, bling-bling wearing thugs" argument from non basketball fans...to me, the NFL is the one that has been leading the way in that category the last few years.
seriously, about once a month you hear about some utterly horrifying crime tied to an NFL player. it is that routine, and it's gotten so bad that the "normal" offenses...public intoxication, DUI, disoderly conduct, assault, etc...barely even make headlines anymore. the NFL needs to start cracking heads, bottom line. whether vick was at the scene or not is irrelevant, he is obviously still associating with people that find it acceptable to shoot somebody over a piece of cake. i've had bosses that would've fired me just for being mentioned in a situation like that. the league needs to get a grip on this situation, because it only seems to be getting worse. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
IF this turns out to be true and Vick was there, and involved in the altercation then he will be indefinately suspended one, and two violating the rules of the propation will send him back to jail. No one at the party is cooperating right now, but they will get the answers they want. Vick was there, it was his 30th. Saying he wasn't there is just a flat out lie and everyone knows it. Fact remains, the guy is a total idiot. You were given a second chance to earn MILLIONS of dollars and still have a nice little 4 or 5 year career, then get out and take the 10 - 20 million you made over that span and enjoy your life. But he couldn't even last 1.5years without his true colors coming out. If its your 30th, you have millions of dollars why not have something are your multimillion dollar mansion?? silly stuff. then to have the people (your suppose to not even see or speak to) at the party. handing out fliers to your party?? really...how stupid. You are a star athlete (well, was a star) and you have to give out fliers to your party...kinda 3rd rate isn't it?

Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
You've hit the nail on the head. Most assume Vick was not the shooter, and i believe he wasn't, but the fact is Vick was partying and hanging out with the very people he is forbid to have contact with, according to the rules of his probation...
That is goodell's issue. And it is dumb of him to say he wasnt there. It was his own b-day party... |

I think Vick is a scumbag, but honestly, other than the associate/co-defendant being present at the party, has Vick done anything wrong? First, he doesn't have a huge mansion, he is bankrupt and paying off his debtors with the majority of his NFL income. Second, someone threw him a party, but he was not the organizer if I understand correctly. How can he control who shows up? Third, the guy is on camera leaving the club 15 minutes before the fight broke out, so how, exactly, is the fight his fault? Granted, being at a club at all is not a smart thing to do if you are on probation, but this is not some thug haven, it is an upscale club in a very nice and (as mentioned) safe part of town. Until more evidence surfaces that Vick knowingly invited or hung out with Phillips, or that he was directly involved with the altercation, anything said here is pure speculation. Bad karma for him? Maybe. But I am failing to see where he did anything intentionally in violation of his probation. |

Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
sounds like, except for throwing a big party at a club in the late night hours with alcohol in your old neighborhood where your past criminal associates are likely to pop up even though you have a court order to not associate with such people, vick didnt do anything wrong.
atleast he was smart enough to leave the scene before things popped off. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
Regardless if Vick was directly involved, I think he'll be facing a suspension this season over this.
If Goodell is going to be consistent with his recent Roethlisberger punishment, that is. So this will leave the Eagles with Kolb and Mike Kafka. After being so confident at QB that they could ship McNabb out...they'll be relying solely on Kolb, which is not a given. |

As for the associates, if they were invited in anyway then he was in the wrong, but if they got wind and showed up without his knowledge, I would have a hard time faulting him. I am not really trying to defend him, as much as trying to say wait and see. If Goodell, or the feds, hit him, and they have proof, then that's fine and good by me. But maybe he just had a birthday party, left, and other idgits caused problems. I dunno. |

You are the company that you keep. The Commish tends to agree with this also. Normal people do not shoot others at birthday parties. |
Re: Man shot after confrontation with Vick at Michael Vick's 30th birthday party
vick is not very bright he should have stayed home. but being that he is from east end new port news i can understand why he just wont leave it alone. he grew up in a very bad spot so he knows no different. you would have thought he would have learned his lesson with the dogs but guess not.

I highly doubt Vick would just totally disobey the NFL rules and want to go back to prison. From several reports they have Vick's Benz on tape leaving before the shooting occurred. Roddy White stated he was with Vick and they didn't know about the shooting until later. The whole thing about saying he wasn't there meant he wasn't there when the shooting happened not he wasn't there at all. |
