JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Just saw the news this morning that JaMarcus was arrested on monday in a drug bust in Alabama.
Apparently he had in his possession some controlled substances, among them, codeine syrup. I would have to believe his NFL career is done for now, possibly for ever... |
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Certified piece of sh*t. This guy was a bigger bust than Ryan Leaf IMO. Poster child for not drafting a guy when weighing pro day and combine stronger than film. Heard Chris Landry say his pro day was the one of best, if not the best him and other scouts had ever seen, and then you watch tape and see constant, mulitple red flags.

Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
The only thing that would make the story better would be if the Jets would have been bitten in the ass and gone ahead and signed this guy to go along with their character issues guys they have signed in the offseason. Cant stand the Jets

we signed larry johnson and albert haynesworth. every team has guys w/ character issues. the jets need a back up qb with starting experience. imo signing russell might not have been such a bad thing. but right now his only option is the UFL. |

K, didnt know you were a Jets fan...F them |
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
The Jets are waiting to sign Brunell. JM wasn't going to be their primary backup, Ryan may be crazy but he's not nuts.
|
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Now, Ryan and JaMarcus together on Hard Knocks, I might just watch that show!!!
|
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Football was likely the only thing keep JA out of trouble and now without football he's toast.

Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Now I know why he was getting so fat.

Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust

Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust

Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
This guy is the biggest loser around. He never wanted anything except to get paid. He's the scarecrow. No heart.
|
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Like seriously, I wondered what happened to him. Like one year this guy is playing for the national championship and the next year he's busto. Just doesn't add up...I mean mentally, it doesn't make sense to me.

HAHA...yep! Scarecrow didn't have a brain, although I guess it still applies to J.Russell. |

Kiffin didn't think Russell was much good (and he was probably right), but at the very least, he had him on the Alex Smith development track. Meaning, that by the time he's 25 or 26 he's ready to take over an NFL offense when, clearly, the guy is too unrefined coming out of college to be a serious prospect.
(Matt Leinart was on the path too, although I really don't think he was unrefined coming from USC. He just might not be that good). But yeah, with Kiffin out, Cable certainly wasn't interested in trying to develop a bad player. And so he tried to win in spite of his quarterback. Thus: the 2009 season. So that really hurt him. |

LOL. Right you are. Oops. But 12th is right, both apply to JaMarcus. |

Was he really that good in college though? He had so many weapons around him at LSU, including that defense. Sure he was athletic with a big arm. But I remember his last year at LSU he came to Gainesville for UF's homecoming... and turned the ball over 5 times in an outright pathetic performance. I was at that game. He looked so awful. |

Exactly. He was never that great in college. Great, awesome arm, decent athlete. He was on outstanding teams in college. He didnt study hard, lazy worker, he just wanted to get paid. Like I stated above great proday, good combine, flawed on film + Raiders draft position = bust |
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
i just read an article that said if russell does try and play in the cfl some team already has his rights. how does that work? i couldn't find much except that as of july 6th the hamilton tiger cats hold his rights?
|
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
no clue how that works
|
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Each CFL team has a list of up to 35 players that they have exclusive negotiating rights to. The CFL teams all work together on the list. Exactly how it works, I'm not totally sure but I believe the worse your record the better chance you have of getting the guy you want. Kind of like the NFL waiver wire.
Anyhow, CFL teams often use it to secure exclusive negotiating rights to borderline NFL prospects or players that they believe might be on the outs. Such as last summer when the Argonauts secure exclusive negotiating rights to Titans' backup QB and apparent bust Vince Young, Winnipeg Blue Bombers have Tavaris Jackson, Montreal Alouettes Tim Tebow. |

2 month investigation? Al's hard at work doing his other job trying to get money back.

("I realize you did not want to draft Jamarcus Russell. He's a great player. Get over it!"). Only Al Davis could make Kiffin look intelligent. |

JaMarcus is like a combination of the Scarecrow, Lion, and Tinman. |
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
Self-destructiveness like JaMarcus shows usually comes from severe depression. He should see a therapist. I feel a bit sorry for him...but not so sorry that I want us to sign him, ever.

Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
I've said it before, but i find it really intriguing thinking about all-star college players who never find success in the NFL.
What i'm saying is when everything looks good on paper, but they can't find their way in the pros. Like Ryan Leaf. He was born to play QB. He only had that one good pre-season in the NFL in 2000, and after that, he was bustville. Jeff George had a few good seasons, but he was the same way. Now a guy that really stands out to me is a QB we had on our replacement team named Tony Robinson. he was a natural athlete, had a huge arm, and was just an amazing player. But he couldn't stay clean from drugs.... |

Yeah that could certainly be the case. Something's not right with him that's for sure. |
Re: JaMarcus Russell arrested in Alabama drug bust
have any of you guys ever heard him talk..total nutcase. No way he deserves to play in this league again. hope he hasn't wasted all his money...oh wait..he's got a drug addiction.
