Re: Places You Want to Visit
I actually want to visit most of the Eastern European countries. I hate touristy stuff and while I want to see some of the can't-miss stuff like the Pyramids, Eiffel Tower, etc., I want to see what life is there.

Re: Places You Want to Visit
Alaska
Yellowstone National Park Portland Peru Kenya Indonesia Nigeria Colombia Hungary Uzbekistan (if it were safe) |
Re: Places You Want to Visit
I'd love to visit just about any country. North Korea might be a little tricky. I've been to Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. For some reason I don't count Canada or Mexico as other countries.
As far as the US, yeah Alaska would be a lot of fun. I've been to most of the touristy places in the lower 48 from Seattle to San Diego, Miami to Bangor and everywhere in between. My dad loved to travel when we were kids and I kept at it once I got older. I'd really like to one day visit Cheyenne Mtn and show my kids what I used to do in the military. |
Re: Places You Want to Visit
Nice thread.
I've seen a lot of Europe, the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Aruba, and Canada as far as out of the country. For what I haven't seen: Inside the US: -Hawaii -Alaska -Pacific Northwest (including Vancouver) -Napa Valley (well, all over California wine country really) -Mount Rushmore/then push west for some camping in Montana -Maine (Acadia looks beautiful) -San Diego Outside: -London -Australia/New Zeland -Costa Rica -I'll give a 3rd to southernmost South America, with a stop in Patagonia on the way down there. -All over Eastern Asia, specifically Hong Kong (my little brother is living/working there pretty much indefinitely as of this past spring) -Southern France -Southern Italy/Sicily (visit my roots- been to Northern Italy, never south) -Greece -And most definitely an African safari |
Re: Places You Want to Visit
Pretty much everywhere; Greece and many other parts of the Mediterranean, Ireland, Holland, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Russia, Ecuador, Brazil, Argentina.. honestly just everywhere.

Re: Places You Want to Visit
Pretty much every major US city would be on my list. As far as traveling outside of the US, am I alone in not having too much interest? Only because of the travel time involved, mainly.

Re: Places You Want to Visit
^ I understand Matty. But IMO when you walk off of the LONG plane flight and you are in, say, Kathmandu, it is worth it.

Yeah I understand. Don't get me wrong I'm not going to let a long plane ride stop me from traveling, it's probably something I'll do later in life though. |

I agree when I hear of 12 hour flights my mind begins to race as to how the hell do you sit for 12 hours on a plane, it sounds like Chinese torture to me! |

You pay extra for an economy plus seat and you show up sleepy. Sleep (-4 hours), watch a in flight movie and shows (-3 hours), read (-2 hours), listen to music and play psp/phone/ds games (-2 hour).....it's like going camping except you can't move too much. |
Re: Places You Want to Visit
Maybe a dumb question but when you're on a 12 hour flight, you're not on a cramped little 737 are you?
|

economy plus is well worth the few dollars extra, I tried it one time, and since have done it every time I have to fly. 5" or whatever doesn't sound like much, but the difference between my knees hitting the seat in front and not makes the flight a ton better. Abroad, I would like to go to Asia someday, not sure which part. Australia would be a nice to do, if I ever can. Moscow would be cool as well. As I said in the other thread, in the US, I just like to drive, the destination is usually an afterthought. |

My buddy has gone to China a few times and each time he said he sat i na normal airplane seat you would take from B-more to Boston. Awful. He had an interview in hong Kong but didn't want his job to know, left early on Friday afternoon came back Monday morning and was back at his desk at 9 am. He looked hell. |

No, atleast a 767, or 777. or an airbus. If you look online at Thailands airline, they have a plane and advertise a queen bed suite. Hilarious (expensive as HELL) EDIT: I went to look for a pic to post, but now can't find it. My co-worker is from Thailand and showed it to me when he flew there last year. Would be an awesome way to fly |

No, 737 can't go that far. You're most likely on a 747, 767, or 777. The body of the plane really doesn't matter though...it's the seat configuration the airlines chooses and how many people they want to cram into the plane. |
Re: Places You Want to Visit
I have this weird thing about visiting Montana.
U.S. Montana Washington Foreign Countries Spain (Barcelona and Madrid) Greece (Cyprus) Italy (many times over) Netherlands Russia |

I would probably go the route you mentioned and upgrade to better seating. I'm sure it's well worth it on a long ride. |

Without economy plus I don't think I'd fly at all. |
Re: Places You Want to Visit
you could travel like this:

I actually prefer long flights, I hate having to drive an hour to the airport, get there an hour before the flight, get on the plane and then sit on the runway for another hour while some maintenance or whatever is being done last minute...all for an hour and a half flight. If I'm going to have put all that effort into just getting on the plane I might as well have a nice, long flight I can enjoy. I don't want to do all that just to get right off the plane |

Re: Places You Want to Visit
I'm just sayin'....if I have to fly, make it worth my while
|
Re: Places You Want to Visit
I hear ya, but I've got no problems with a quick flight. But yeah, it is crazy when the time you spending going to the airport and waiting around is equal to or longer than your actual air time.
|
Re: Places You Want to Visit
Short flights at small airports are great IMO. You don't have to show up early, you don't have to deal with crowds -- just stroll onto the plane, sit down and have a drink, then 30 mins later you're there.
