re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Willie Colon - Steelers, out for year with Achilles
Ed Reed - Ravens, who knows when/if he'll play? Osi Umenyiora - Giants, needs hip surgery but waiting until AFTER season Sergio Kindle - Ravens, fell down steps and broke his skull (serious) Steve Smith - Panthers, broke arm playing with kids Limas Sweed - Steelers, out for year with Achilles Ryan Clady - Broncos, basketball knee injury Brett Favre - Vikings, ankle...who knows |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Yeah I was trying to figure out where to post this, good idea for an injury tracker. I was thinking about an around the NFL in camps too, but something told me most camps wouldn't be followed enough to report anything but injuries.

re: Notable Injuries Around the League
This thread is really going to come in handy when my Fantasy Football draft comes uaround..
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Yeah, great thread idea.
Seems like the Steelers and Ravens are getting hit worst so far. Giants also, with that car wreck and Osi not being 100%. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Hey, Mods can you correct my spelling injuries:)
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Ha...didn't notice that.

I didn't wanna hijack it haha

re: Notable Injuries Around the League
So, any chance we work a trade with Baltimore for Carlos? Is it worth it to us? Think we could get any value from Baltimore?
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
CR, I think that's a great possibility. I think a lot of that depends on how other guys perform in camp.
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
I feel sorry for anyone who draft Baltimore as their fantasy defense. (I only play Yahoo! fantasy football, so I'm ignorant of how other fantasy leagues work)
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Get rid of carlos and replace him with who?
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Ravens schedule looks brutal too.
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Yeah, Ravens have been hit the hardest I would say and given that they were reloading with Boldin, it really looked like they were gearing up for a SB run so these little injuries this early have to hurt.
|
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
I keep saying injuries are a reality in the NFL, not an excuse. Even your back-ups that make the squad have to be expected to start and contribute at some point.
Every team will have their share of starters going down this season. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
The Ravens had their nice little run, now that D is old, REED may retire and Ray Lewis only has 1-2 more yrs at best. I also think their Offense won't be as good as people think.

Osi Umenyiora - Giants, needs hip surgery but waiting until AFTER season
Should make life a little easier for a schdule that will put Williams up against many of the leagues best pass rushers. I mean he's already got to face Ware, Super Mario, Chris Long, Trent Cole/Brandon Grahm, Dwight Freeny, Jared Allen, and Clay Matthews. In fact facing these guys is a big part of why the Redskins need to be able to make sure they can establish a ground game. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Believe me, Osi will be ready to roll coming opening day.

Start D Hall and Buchanon, have Tryon be the nickel back until he leaps over Buchanon on the depth chart...also have Barnes on the bench. It's not a bad idea honestly, we could be fine without Carlos if health holds up. Of course, it's nice to have depth at CB. Do we have any major needs left? The only way we should do this is to solidify a weakness. |

nothing less than a 1st rounder and even then i dont know that i would do it. im expecting and hoping for a big year for los. never understood the steep decrease in his value due solely to him having the worst hands in the league. man that sucks for the ravens, all the talk this offseason has been how the ravens decided to draft for depth at the D line but not the secondary whom many feel is the weakest and shallowist unit. they do have ladarius webb whom i think can play up or close to foxworth's level if he continues to progress from his rookie year. the city of baltimore is pretty pumped up. its all im hearing. |

Now if all these guys show that they are better than Carlos during camp by all means trade him. LB and OL positions to me still need shoring up. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Huge setback for Baltimore. With Tryon's development, I wonder if it is worth considering trading Rogers to the Ravens for a pick or two. Although at this point, B'more may look to someone who has not been picked up. Still, the Ravens are getting thin in the DB group, with Reed hurt, and both Webbs and Washington coming off injuries.

Jared Gaither carted off the field
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 30, 2010 5:11 PM ET The bad times continue at Ravens camp. Ravens tackle Jared Gaither was carted off the field Friday afternoon with an apparent back injury, according to the Baltimore Sun. Rumored to be on the trading block all offseason, Gaither split work on Friday at right and left tackle. Gaither missed much of the offseason with a toe injury. We'll let you know if the back injury proves serious, further screwing up the PFT Magazine predictions by Florio and Silva, who both picked the Ravens to make the Super Bowl. Baltimore lost cornerback Domonique Foxworth earlier Friday for the season to a ACL tear. |

re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Any of you who think Tryon has somehow transformed into a legit NFL cornerback need to lay off the crazy pills.
Trade Tryon to Baltimore. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
OKC sports radio has also reported Dez Bryants injury. According to sources here, Bryant landed on a DB's foot after a crossing route. No news on how severe though.
UPDATE: Just saw the video, it didn't look to bad honestly Wade Phillips says it seems like a sprain |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Gaither had back cramps. That's the latest from ESPN

Trade Tryon to Baltimore.
Just like anyone who thinks trading Rogers and starting Buchanon is an option. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Looks like Dez Bryant could miss significant practice time if it's a high ankle sprain.
|
They are reporting out 4-6 weeks for Bryant.
As for Baltimore, it would be ironic if they got shawn springs a few days after Cincinatti signed T.O. They have followed each other throughout their careers! |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
yeah dez is out for a little bit...may not be a big deal but rookies need to be in there practicing

Jerry "I need a botox injection" Jones, is crying like all the other little cowgirls. Except well, Roy....ha,ha
Jerry Jones suggests Dez Bryant was overworked Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on July 30, 2010 8:42 PM ET Reporters love Jerry Jones for the same reason that probably drives coaches crazy: Jones talks and emotes like a fan when things go wrong. It's no surprise, then, that Jones wasn't pleased when told about Dez Bryant's high ankle sprain, which will cost the rookie 4-6 weeks. In fact, he nudged his coaching staff under the bus. ESPN's Chris Mortensen writes on Twitter that Jones suggested Bryant was "overworked" and wasn't happy the injury happened on the second to last play of practice after all his reps and his kick return work. "Got a feeling someone has gotten their butts chewed," Mort wrote. Wade Phillips has a pretty sweet gig, but an unreasonable "butt chewing" or five from Jerry Jones every season comes with the territory. |

The only way we should do this is to solidify a weakness.
We do have needs, at CORNERBACK! From SmootSmack earlier on the official training camp thread: "Barnes still struggling badly, Tryon very inconsistent (DB depth is def something to keep an eye on)" I don't think we can afford to trade Rogers at all. If Baltimore was desperate enough I'd be ok with trading Barnes or Tryon away maybe. If anything I think it wouldn't hurt for us to look and see who is out there at CB for ourselves. |
re: Notable Injuries Around the League
Just heard on ESPN radio that both Percy Harvin and Desean Jackson were carted off the field with undisclosed injuries today. That sucks. I like watching both of those little speedsters.

At least now I don't need to hear the Madden speak for a while from Cowboy fans. YO what are u going ta do? Romo at QB. Austin on da left, Bryant on da right, Williams in da slot. Den we got Witten at Tite End and Bennet at da otha Tight End. Den we gots Felix and Barber at Running Back. We is unstoppable. By the way the answer is simple. Beat the Cowboys the same way the Giants beat the Patriots, hang out in their backfield. If Haynesworth gets in shape then the Cowboys will have to protect against a formidable front. Plus on top of that the only names I recognize at this point in the passing game are Romo, Austin, and Witten. Williams and Bryant both need to prove they can play and Bennet is in a much different situation then Davis where the Redskins are much more willing to play two tight end sets and move one of the Tight Ends to the slot. So their reps will be much different. It would also be nice if the Cowboys running game took a hit due to the team focusing so much on the pass. |

According to radio reports here in OKC, Jackson's injury may be a MCL tear. Again just rumors... No word on Harvin

That sucks. Wonder how long he's out for. Everything I'm seeing on MCL's says 4 to 8 weeks. By the way, with all these injuries to pass catchers maybe we should tell Santana to take a day off or two. |
