No roster move to report just yet. |

dun dun dunNNNNNNNNN....
|
re: Updated: Colt Cut
Oh well the Cult of Colt is dead and Pineapple Jesus will not be leading this team to the Super Bowl.
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Well I guess Shanahan had seen enough of Brennan that he would rather have John Beck of the Ravens. Hopefully, Grossman, Beck, and anyone else just holds a clipboard this year and McNabb plays 100%.
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
I have a prediction.
Dallas is going to sign him. I remember Jerry Jones was a fan of his and of course we play them week #1. |

Beck sounded like a Colt clone anyway. Or should I say that Colt sounded like a Beck clone? |

you said it. He is a nice kid, at least he can move along, get a position as a backup somewhere, say..........San Fran or Oakland (that would be rich). Or maybe the Ultra High Scoring Arena Football League. Those offenses put up Hawaii type numbers.................. |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
He had every opportunity to make the team but didn't. Goodluck bruthah...
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Shanny doesn't mess around. 5 days in and he's seen enough.
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Again, I just want to say that I like this FO and HC. They seem to know what they want to see and they are going to do whatever it is to get what they want on the football field. Does it mean we will be superbowl champs this year, not necessarily. But there is no doubt that every player and coach on the team knows that that is the ultimate goal.
All in all its all good. |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
I'm not sure why Colt didn't at least make it til a few pre season games. But in the end Colt was drafted by Zorn so MS had no loyalty to him. Grossman is just terrible. Bartel hasn't taken an NFL snap. If McNabb goes down we're in serious serious trouble.
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Yep, wish he would have panned out but hey, I get the feeling that we'll see alot more veteran names cut this year.
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Are we going to hear the Ramsey excuses for Colt?
'He was never given a fair shot by coach.' Guuuaaahh! 'Zorn (Spurrier) ruined him.' |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
I think Grossman's going to surprise a lot of people (skinsfan69 I'm looking in your direction) this year
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
The Cult is crestfallen. Apparently changing water into wine is one thing, changing an opportunity into a roster spot is something different.

Apparently Shanny had seen enough of Colt and Grossman IS a Super Bowl QB. Beck's probably no better or worse than Bartel but has some game experience. Could have a worse #3 QB. |

Based on recent history, the probability of him playing 100% are roughly 16.66666%. Add in the IRS' depreciating value concept and i would say he's got roughly a 12% chance of taking every snap. |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
DM has missed 4 games the last 3 years. I think this injury stuff with him is a little overblown.

I've heard reports that Grossman looks good in camp. He DOES know Kyle's system already too. |

Grossman might be the worst QB to ever start a Super Bowl. They got there cause of their defense and Devin Hester, not Grossman. If he has to play more than a handful of games then the season is done. |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
DM has missed 4 games the last 3 years. I think this injury stuff with him is a little overblown.
I disagree. 4 games in 3 years is still more than one per year. he's also older now, playing in an offense that will require him to move around alot more than in Philly, working behind an unproven and less talented offensive line, and throwing to a far less talented receiving corp who will not get open as early or as often as the guys he had in philly. those last two items go hand in hand to really increase the chances mcnabb gets hurt. he can't scramble as well as he used to. In my opinion, the only team that can legitimately get by with only two QBs on the roster is Indy. Shanahan would be a fool to roll with only two QBs on the active roster (unless we can stash a decent guy on the practice squad that we're sure no one else would want). |

I've heard the exact opposite. |

I read today(i'm sorry i can't properly reference, like you i read too much 'skins literature), that he hasnt' played 16 complete games but once in the last 6 years. That's where my 16% came in. I think it's entirely likely he'll miss a game or two. He tends to play hurt, so it's not a big deal. |

Maybe so, but can you name one team that has a backup who can handle "more than a handful of games"? What you want in a backup is someone who can step into a game, without much prep, and continue the game. In that sense, Grossman is a good candidate, clearly he knows how to manage a game, I don't know that Colt ever proved even that much. |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
I heard Rex has thrown something like 5 picks.

I'm only worried if Carlos caught any of them! :D |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Now you want to talk about someone always injured. I go with whatever the FO thinks is best.

Other than his two injury plagued seasons in 2005 & 2006 he's been pretty durable. He's played in at least 14 games in 7 of his 11 seasons. |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Had to know this was in the making. Colt has had a horrible camp, and not impressed Shanny.
Good Luck |
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
This feels like a break-up. I'm crying on the inside.
|
Re: Updated: Colt Cut
Shanahhan not convinced Colt could earn a spot. I'm one of the few who thinks he could eventually play in this league. Colt out, Beck in. Maybe Colt will get a look someplace else.

Bartel is the clear starter. They just brought in Beck to keep the competition guessing. |

Here's this morning's report: -- 10:10 a.m. ET Grossman’s Day Rex Grossman appears to be having a strong practice. While his passes are not always precise, almost every one of his throws has been caught. His best play? He eluded pressure from the right and rolled left. He saw Joey Galloway running a deep route toward the middle of the field. Grossman threw a high-arching pass to about the 5-yard line and Galloway made an impressive diving grab in front of a defender. Later, Grossman completed a pass to Ryan Torain along the left sideline. Torain had to twist his body to secure the catch before going out of bounds. Next play, Grossman rolled right and completed a pass to Willie Parker, who had a step on defender. Parker turned up-field and saw open field ahead. Re: Updated: Colt Cut
So the Redskins plan of seeding the league with #2QB's continues. Soon no contender will be without one of our deep moles.
Muahahahah |
Other than his two injury plagued seasons in 2005 & 2006 he's been pretty durable. Missing 4 games in 3 years shouldn't be flaunted around as a positive. We see guys effortlessly string five full seasons together at the QB position. Kurt Warner lost just one game to injury in the last three seasons, and that was with a concussion. Romo has missed just three games in four years as Cowboys starter. Eli Manning has never missed a start. |
