What do you drive?
Well, I know there's another thread about this somewhere on this site, but for the life of me I couldn't find it.
Anyway, I've got a brand new Nissan Altima (4 DR 2.5 SL with all the bells and whistles) in my possession right now. It's a smooth ride. The owner and GM of Chevy Chase Cars are friends of mine, so they have a really, really sweet deal for me. I've been testing it out the past few days. I love it. Anyone else own one or have any other experiences with Nissans? |
Re: What do you drive?
I bought a 2004 Buick Rendevous (SP?) for my Birthday and I have a 98 Chevy Blazer so no Nissan for me.

Re: What do you drive?
I've had my 2010 Ford Fusion since April last year and it was my first real new car. I love most things about it but I most especially love my SYNC system especially when I found out I could stream Pandora through my phone & stereo system and shut off my Sirius subscription haha.
I 2 almost went with an Altima but I got a deal in my Fusion thanks to a friend and I couldn't pass it up. The Altima is a very sweet ride though from my limited experience. |
Re: What do you drive?
Nice..I've had a 2003 Nissan Altima SL for 7 years and it hasn't let me down. I have done all the maintenance stuff and it works like a charm. The only issue is my sun roof doesn't open anymore. The dealer said it would cost $400 to replace the motor on it but I don't care enough to fix it.
Does it still come with a nice Bose sound system? |
Re: What do you drive?
I've got an 06 Acura TSX, 05 Toyota 4Runner, 06 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, 01 Honda S2000, and a cherry 87 Chevy V10 pickup. The truck was my first vehicle and will always be in my garage.
I've never owned a Nissan, but you bought yourself a good car. Daseal has a Maxima, and it's a nice car. One thing I thought was pretty cool about it is that when you open the door, the steering wheel moves up and out of the way so that your knees don't hit it when you get out. |
Re: What do you drive?
2005 Honda Civic.

Re: What do you drive?
I traded in my souped up Evo VIII for a freakin Scion XB. I wanted something cheap with low maintenance that I could get all of my kids into. Suprisingly it is perfect for golfers also. I fit 3 growm men (me and 2 passengers) with luggage and clubs comfortably on my annual Myrtle Beach trip this year. They look small but are quite roomy.

I also have an xB, mine is a 2005. One of the reasons I bought it is because my brother, my best friend and I always used to hang out together and we're all 6'1 or taller, they both had 2 doors, so we'd always end up taking 2 cars wherever we went. It was just nice to have the space to fit all 3 of us. I'm thinking about getting rid of it in the next year or so, though, looking at Mini Coopers. |

Re: What do you drive?
I have a 2006 Ford Ranger 4X4 with a 5 speed. 99,000 miles.
Then i have my 1981 Yamaha XS400, which is a real gem, only 11,000 miles. |

I just have the XB for work and picking up kids after school. It serves its purpose well. I do miss my Evo though. I like the mini Coopers as well. Ironically the size that we buy here in the U.S. are known as "Maxis" in Europe. The actual mini coopers are much smaller. |
Re: What do you drive?
I need something good on gas,I bought a 2010 Kia Soul.Ive racked up 40,000 miles on it already. It doesnt have "sync" but it does have built in voice activated bluetooth which is pretty cool

Re: What do you drive?
2001 Pontiac Grand Am. It's a POS. I would never have purchased a Pontiac, but when my Camry kicked the bucket I inherited the Pontiac from my wife, and she got the new minivan.
I'm driving the sucker into the ground because it's just the smart financial move. But part of me prays for it to break down so I can get into something else! |
Re: What do you drive?
2006 Nissan Maxima and a 2001 Chevy Tracker.
I must say that I have beaten the hell out of the Tracker and that car is still running fine (knock on wood). The Maxima is nice, roomy, and pretty comfortable. I had some brake problems at the beginning, but it's all good now. |
Re: What do you drive?
A 1999 Honda Civic . . . that has merely 85,000 miles on it. My wife and I both live and work in the city and ride the train, so the car sits motionless Monday through Friday every week, with only occasional exceptions. It's about as plain-Jane a car as you're going to find, but I love it--it's been totally reliable for 11 years. However, my wife really wants to just get rid of it and finally get a new one. She's part of a GM family, so she wants us to get an Equinox, which we'll likely get a good deal for. Not sure I'm sold on it yet though.

Also, my wife drives a 2001 (maybe?) Honda Civic

I drive a 99 Civic too, but with 208,000 miles on it. Still runs well, with minimal maintenance. |
Re: What do you drive?
I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I guess it's fully loaded by '02 standards but now it's severely lacking in many areas.
It's a V8 so it sucks up a ton of gas and it's been nothing but problems for me since I got it about 4 years ago. The heat didn't work for a year, so that winter was a bitch; I had to get the power steering fixed about 6months after I bought it; and the AC works but not well and its dark green so it gets really hot inside. But having said all that, it's got about 115k miles on it and I have little to no intention of getting a new car anytime soon. |
Re: What do you drive?
2007 Dodge Ram with the 5.7L Hemi V8. SUCKS GAS like crazy, but there's no Prius that can pull our boat... other than the gas mileage, I love this truck. Wife has a '09 Saturn Vue .

My wife drives the Altima. I love Nissans. |

yeah,I have an 08 Ram with the smaller v8,I think it might suck gas worse than the hemi.Doesnt the hemi have that mode that it kicks in to make it a 4 or 6 cylinder? |

Yeah, it does... but I have read some things that seem to indicate turning it off actually can improve mileage. I have some larger tires on than stock (35"s) and an aftermarket catback, headers and intake. I'm going to put a tuner on later this year and play with it a bit to see if i can squeeze some more mpg's out of her... |
Re: What do you drive?
As Cpayne mentioned, I drive an 04 Maxima. It has some nice features, but I'd trade it straight up for my 97 Acura CL in a second. I won't be getting a Nissan for my next car (Maybe Infiniti G35, same company)

I love it. In 2007 there were the Classic model (old style) and the new style. Mine is the new style extended cab z71. At times I wish mine were a crew cab so if you need the room I'd go that route. I have the 6.0L gas engine in mine and it gets around 12-17 depending on my driving habits. If I could choose again I would have went with the Duramax. I like the 6.0, but the diesel would've been sweet. Like every 3/4 ton I've ever seen, it rides like a tank. I've been told the crew cabs ride a little smoother because they're not as rigid. In the end if what you do requires a heavy duty pickup I'd definitely go with a 2500 over a 1500. I've never once looked at my truck and wished it was a half ton. Hope this helps and if you get one post up pics! |

Depends on the defensive tactic I want to employ that day. The minivan is better for bangin down low and taking a charge. But the Pontiac is better for guarding the perimeter and stopping the drives down the center of the lane. |

Load the bed and it'll smooth out, too. :silly: I'd love to find a 03-07 (classic), 4x4, black, 3/4 ton, extended cab, long bed with the 8.1 and either the Allison or the manual. That's the truck I'm hoping will pop up one day on Craigslist. The Duramax is a beast of an engine, but it's hard to justify the $5-7k premium unless you are towing all the time. The 6.0 in your truck is an awesome engine. The GenIII small blocks are all very well engineered and you should get a lot of life out of it. I'm probably going to swap a 5.3 into the truck I listed in my first post, above. They are very popular swaps for a wide variety of vehicles (RX7, older BMWs, Corvettes, Camaros, Mustangs etc). |
Re: What do you drive?
Don't ask me how but you made me remember two things I don't like.
1. Torque management. As soon as my drivetrain warranty is up I'm getting a BlackBear tune and taking it down. 2. the GM 6 Speed automatic. Nothing too bad like erratic shifting, but I will never get used to my truck shifting so much. It changes gears constantly around town and is kinda annoying. |

If your truck has a tow/haul mode, try using it. It should hold the shifts longer and the computer will not allow the transmission to shift so often (up or down). |

It has a 9 speaker Bose audio system, XM, leather, sunroof, iPod dock, bluetooth, the little camera that comes on the display screen when you're in reverse, digital climate control.. It's a lotta fun. Very good car. And so damn smooth. |
