Expose on the Tea Party Architects
This is a just published article about the Koch Brothers.
If anyone wants to know why theses two guys started the Tea Party check it out. It's an eye opening look into the power of corporate influence in American politics. Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
Interesting read for sure, thanks for sharing. Corporate influence is everywhere, hell you can find it in high school sports these days! The high school where I coach has a deal with Nike and Nibco.
I have no problems with the Tea Party, the majority of the people are just tired of their government not listening to them anymore and doing as it pleases at the expense of all of us. It is not an Obama thing, it is a government thing in general. Sure there are a few nuts here and there, but that is anywhere. I still do not think the liberal establishment does not know what to do with the likes of the Tea Parties of the world. When you do not understand something it is easy to discredit and try to pull apart. |
Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
I made for about two pages until they linked back to the 60's, blacks, and the communist party all rolled up in one.

Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
Sorry, the Tea Parties started in 2007 with the Ron Paul folks and it gained strength during 2008. The neocons through Sarah Palin hijacked it though after Obama was elected. The Koch brothers are big neocons and supporters of the GOP. They might be behind the hijacking of the Tea Parties, but they didn't start them. This piece is propaganda meant to discredit them.

Wrong. The Koch brothers are ardent libertarians. They are by far the largest sponsor of "tea party" organizational funding nationwide. The "Tea Party" as America knows it today was entirely shaped by the funding of the Koch Empire. They might have hijacked the name, but their financial support/influence made the current movement viable. |

They are not even remotely close to neocons. You are completely wrong on this. |

Who cares about their inception when we all know they are a doomed group once the Republicans suck the life out of these poor saps and are done using them.

I'm so glad the Tea Party is alive and well. I say leave 'em alone, they are giving some Dems a fighting chance this Novemeber.
Speaking of the Tea Party, anyone see that Major Garrett is leaving Fox News. Bit of a blow if you ask me. |

Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
The Democrat Party and media are in for a huge surprise and wakeup call in November if they don't stop thinking of the "Tea Party" movement as a political strategy.
It's made up on regular, everyday, working and voting Americans that are sick of where the country is going, the lies and spending...and just the general mindset of those in power right now. They're not being paid and bussed in like a lot of liberal protesters, they're not just Republicans, just Conservatives, or just of any single mindset. They're just pissed-off voters who are ready to throw all of the bums out. They're brought together by frustration over not being heard, not a particular goal or something in common with one another. This is why they're going to affect these elections...they don't want their own party or candidate to win, they just want America to return to what it's supposed to be. |

That's a really big thing in common. Keep alienating every single minority group and keep on voting for the party that protects the super rich and keep allowing for the corporate stranglehold on American politics and just watch as the Republican party continues it's inevitable decline in national influence. Angry conservatives who just want "America to return to what it's supposed to be" are in for a big surprise over the next forty years. |

As far as Dems being surprised, I highly doubt that as most predictions say that we'll either lose the House or come very close. I would say if Dems hold onto to both the House and the Senate, which is entirely possible because of the Tea Party candidates ousting reliable Republicans candidates who would have faired very well in the general, that would be the surprise of the day. I whole heartedly believe the media are secretly rooting for the Tea Party as that would be a significant narrative and signal a shift in American politics. I also take issue with the notion that Republicans, which is what the Tea Party is like it or not, are hard working 'Americans' and Democrats aren't. See it's this very fractured logic that will cause them to only appeal to a shrinking electorate. If you look at the elections so far, prior to last two primaries incumbents are still winning more races and overall Dems are still stacking up pretty favorably. But don't take my word for it, look at the the special elections that have taken place since Obama has been in office. Even in reliably red districts, Dems are doing pretty darn good. Is there a lot of angry sentiment out there towards this Administration, absolutely. But the Tea Party and the Republican party are going to have to come with a better slogan than "we want our country back", because that dog ain't going to hunt my friend. We've seen at least three national Tea Party candidates go up in flames recently: Sharon Angle, Rand Paul, and last night J.D. Hayword got trounced --trounced-- by old man McCain. My take is this whole movement/phenomenon is good for cable ratings, but unless you're putting together a message built on center/right or center/left policies, it's going to be an uphill battle in a general election. If they can't harness this anger and frustration, as legitimate as it may be, it will all be for naught. And come November a lot of people will look at the results, not the rhetoric to see how effective the Tea Party really is...was. |
Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
As a proud Democrat, liberal, socialist commie, facist, or whatever you guys are calling us these days, my biggest hope in defeating the Republicans for the White House is that the GOP will extrapolate the mid-term results as the formula to defeat Obama 2012.
For what it's worth, and certainly unrelated to this thread, there are rumblings that the White House may be considering switching Joe Biden's and Hillary Clinton's posts for the 2012 ticket. She would become the new star of the Democrat party if that happens. There's not a Republican, Sarah Palin included, that would energize their base like Veep Clinton. Considering that Joe Biden has been very visible and vocal on both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, it's possible they are slowly switching their foreign policy roles. Stay tuned kids. |

Well at least your honest enough to admit what they are. The dems seem to know how to keep them poor and just happy enough to vote for them. I also notice how unemployment has become part of the mix with other social programs. Teach a man how not to work and you have a man who sits on his ass. |

Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
it is amazing how people who HAVE a job...say that people who DONT have a job are lazy and gaming the system. Please let someone who DOESNT have a job speak up. What have the dems and Obama done:
1.Extended unemployment (which my wife needed after being laid off twice in 2 years) 2.Healthcare (my brother found out he had cancer days before he graduated from TCU and didnt have health insurance) 3. Credit card reform (companies wont jack up your fees without telling you in advance) 4. Tax breaks for the middle class (hey tea party....TAX BREAKS) 5. Increased pell grants for college students If you have lived a "perfect" life then you wouldnt understand this....so you would rather criticize instead of provide SOLUTIONS. I get it....you want your country back....to the way it was when bush put us in this freaking hole!!!!! or .....you want your country back from a black president huh??? |

The backbone of the Tea Party is over-55s and especially retirees -- some planned, some forced -- with the most valuable asset of all, time.
i think the above sums it up. One thing tea party gets right are term limits...its time to get that changed asap |

Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
back to my question FD. what have the GOP done for the poor?
And of course this in the end is the doom of the country. (Melodramatic I know) The GOP will never "do for the poor" because of the concept of self-reliance. Thus, the "poor" shall always be swayed by those who offer other people's money as a way of being less poor. It is the well of the rich can be less rich, so that the poor are less poor argument. It works great in vote getting, and in the heartstring media. It just isn't the basis for a lasting economic plan. In the same vain the GOP is treated as making the poor poorer so that the rich can be richer. Which of course is not their primary goal. They may very well want to make the rich richer, but economies are not zero sum, making one person richer does not mean that another person by definition is poorer. Insert trickle down jokes here. People become poorer for many many reasons. Government wealth redistribution makes a person poorer. Bad financial decisions make people poorer. Laziness does in fact make a person poorer, generally speaking. Lack of education can lead to a poorer life. I would say over education can also lead to a poorer life. Someone who pays for an art history degree, but has the skills of a McD's worker, now not only has a lower paying job but more bills then that person really needed to take on. Back to the question, what has the GOP done for the poor, probably nothing, but what have the Dems done except increase the welfare state. Making people look more to the govt then to themselves will be an unhealthy thing for this country. But maybe not, maybe having more and more people thinking that government should provide cradle to grave protection will suddenly become the perfect solution. |
Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
One other part is that real financial riches come in three main ways: inheritance, hard work combined with sound financial discipline, or luck; and one could argue inheritance is a sub-category of luck. A lot of people work hard, but not all use sound financial discipline (i would include myself in this category.) Thus most people fail to achieve that goal of financial security, but rather than blame themselves, we all want to put the blame back on others, or look for the government to take care of us.

Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
One word: Opportunity
Ok, but that is a part of luck. How many people have had golden opportunities and blown it or missed it. Opportunity does not, in and of itself, guarantee real financial riches. In fact many a lottery winner have had a golden opportunity, only to see that frittered away due to lack of work ethic and financial discipline. How many athletes have been given the opportunity to escape to a new life, only to be dragged back down by either lack of work ethic or by poor money management. I make a decent pay but McD's and fast food living keeps me from realizing a life of "real financial riches". My kids worked over the summer and I tried to instill in them that which I know but do not have, and yet when they got that money for a new video game their first instinct was to go get it. So Opportunity(luck) - financial discipline =(still) lack of long term wealth. |
Re: Expose on the Tea Party Architects
I just love how The Tea Party feels that they have to take their country back. As if something was lost somewhere around the end of '08 and the beginning of '09. Maybe I just wasn't up on my game but I never heard of them until then. I know that EVERY single Tea Party group doesn't have the (as I see them) racist undertones but that's the battle cry that was and still is most used. I wish them the best in all of their future endeavors but if you don't like his politics then cool. But if it's the color of his skin then I mean shit, what are we all here for ?
