Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
Matt Leinart benched for Saturday; could be done in Arizona | ProFootballTalk.com
So, uh, who is Derek Anderson's agent and what do I need to do to have him represent my family? And this would have to move John Skelton front and center into Offensive Rookie of the Year watch. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
Skelton!!!!!

Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
How great would it be to dangle Donovan McNabb to them now and see what they'd give up? They're a C+ QB away from contending.
I know that's not something the team would consider, but I'd think that we would get their #1 and maybe a player out of it... |

Did Vinnie draft M Leinart?

Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
I guess this means Vince Young was the better pick. Doh!
Looks like Chase Daniel is beating out Patrick Ramsey for #2 in New Orleans. This weeks game is very important for Patrick, he has to do well. Chase played really well last week. |

Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
matt L is a monster chump. He might be the all time worst bust ever, what a wash out last time matt l played against the bears was denny's meltdown....and they let em off the hook....lol...

To call him the biggest bust ever is a litte harsh and untrue.
Ryan Leaf comes to mind just off the top of my head. |

What is funny to me is hearing how well Tebow will be in the NFL. IMO Matt is better so I guess that means what for Tebow......?

Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
something tells me that McDaniels' bravado won't last too long
he game in with some strong guff and will probably have a Zorn-like exit |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
Well, my prediction about Leinart this season is off to a shitty start.

Plus, I don't think any team would be willing to give up a #1 for McNabb. The Eagles got [from us] the best deal they probably could have gotten despite the fact it came from within the division. Leinart was a very good collegiate q/b, I just never saw it at the NFL level. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
This doesn't surprise me. Anderson is a very talented guy and has more upside than Leinart.

Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
DA's accuracy problems won't let him stay on the field for too long.

Yeah goes back to the old saying if you have 2 QBs, you've really got none

I'm looking at it completely from "we got this guy for a 2nd, now there's a complete team with a need, we can make a profit (i.e. better/more picks) standpoint. I know it's fantasyland. Unlike some others, I don't see us as a playoff team this year, and I think eventually this thing with McNabb is going to end badly. So throw sexy Rexy in there for a year and draft the heir apparent next yr. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
Brilliant logic there BB, brilliant.
Don't mean to hate but yeah, you are in fantasy land. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
Kurt Warner retired? I guess that explains why I saw him announcing arena football. I think my memory is starting to slip some or I just didn't care enough to remember he retired.
|
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
If the Cards need to trade for a QB (which in my opinion may not help the team this late in the game ) why not try and go after one of the guys in Pittsburg. Dixon, Leftwich, or Roethlisberger ( their name was connected with him prior to the draft ).
The reason why I bring this up is Dixon and Lefwich have had some nice plays in preseason and it is uncertain who will start the third preseason game for the Steelers. On Espn they were reporting this morning that Ben may not draw the start tonight. Also as savy as the Steelers are with player mangement it would seem that if a guy like Dixon or Leftwhich start the season off right for the Steelers while Ben is suspended it would almost make sense for them to jettison one guy and keep the other two. Just my .02 since there was some discussion of getting rid of Dmac for a #1. We finally get a guy who is a franchise QB and we should trade him away?? Not going to get my approval on that one! :) |

Didn't care enough to remember one of the top QBs of the past decade retired...but cared enough to watch an Arena Football game. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
I think I just still hate McNabb and am trying to find some way for him to be off the team by the start of the season.:tongue

You'd rather have another bad season eh? Because that's what we'd looking at without him. |

I live in Eagles country... I've been watching him throw bounce passes for his entire career. That bias is hard to get rid of in 6months or however long it's been... I do believe he's an upgrade over Campbell, but I also think there's only so far he's going to take the team before things turn ugly. Hopefully I'm wrong. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
Back to Leinart and basically the question of him being another disappointing 1st round QB selection....Which quarterback has been more disappointing: Leinart, Russell, or Quinn?
I thought coming outta school Russell was bust city, I thought Leinart would be average, and I thought Quinn was gonna be great...so Quinn has been the most disappointing in my eyes with the expectations i thought. Anybody else, opinions? |

Footballs football. Hey I was watching it on the NFL network. For some reason I was thinking he just thought about retiring and was going to play another year. |

Leinart looked bad the other night, but Quinn has looked horrible. He actually made Tebow look like a pro qb by comparison. To answer the question... Quinn has been the most disappointing. |

Hey, so do I. I'm surrounded by a combination of Jackass Eagle fans and silent Steeler fans since the "bar incident", with Ravens fans just below me. I never liked McNabb, but I've come to realize it's more because he was wearing that ugly shade of green. Personally, especially since I've been hearing him speak as a Redskins, he seems like a great guy and you can't argue with a 6-time Pro-Bowler's resume much. His system in Philly sucked. 70% passing/30% rushing schemes won't help your numbers. Most of his career, he won with absolute garbage depth at WR. I see big things happening with him in D.C. He has the best surrounding cast and coaching staff in his career, which may help him get over the Super Bowl hump that Philadelphia will NEVER conquer. He's our QB. Yes it's strange to see him in B&G but I'm excited he's here and not on another opponent's roster...and I'm going to support him. I can't fathom being excited if Rex Grossman or an injury-prone rookie were our QB going into this season...or worse, Jay Cutler. BACK TO THE CARDS - I bet Skelton will start against us next week. :D |

LOL, bounce passes. This is true. I never thought he was a great QB, but I always liked his personality. He has intangibles, so that counts for something. I think as McNabb goes, so does our season. He can do well, or he can do poorly -- he's inconsistent. In any case, he was able to win games like that his entire career. |

I've followed him since his SU days, always been a fan of his despite that little Eagles thing. Yeah he's going to bounce passes in the dirt that will make you scratch your head, but then he'll throw a strike 60 yards down the field for a TD. That's always been his game. The guy is a winner, end of story. |
Re: Matt Leinart Benched for Cards' Game vs. Bears
I never really saw the hype in Quinn (maybe GTripp can clarify). Russell was one of the more obvious busts-to-be of recent NFL drafts. I thought Leinart would at least be able to be an effective game manager, who knows maybe he still can.
If we hadn't traded for Beck, I'd say keep an eye on the Redskins for Leinart if he were to get cut. Remember what I told you guys this past fall/winter, when Leinart was drafted Shanahan was originally trying to trade up to draft him but the Cardinals took just before he could so he went with Cutler. There is a rumor out there about Leinart to Seattle, which I think was just made up by someone who figured Pete Carroll wanted him. But Leinart to Seattle really doesn't make sense to me. |
