My cuts 10 Bartel, Richard QB 6-3 230 1 Tarleton State 02-03-1983 (Sorry Lotus :( ) 56 Gatewood, Curtis LB 6-3 240 2 Vanderbilt 05-18-1985 51 Henson, Robert LB 6-0 247 1 TCU 01-27-1986 12 Kelly, Malcolm WR 6-4 226 2 Oklahoma 12-30-1986 (straight cut or IR) either: 76 Bryant, Anthony NT 6-3 376 3 Alabama 11-16-1981 or 72 Green, Howard NT 6-2 365 6 LSU 01-12-1979 and Green wearing Trent Williams number has me leaning towards him getting the ax, even that probably doesn't mean squat. |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Kelly and Bartel are the only ones I will say get the axe for sure. Banks is on the fence I think. D Thomas might be as well.
|
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
I think Bartel will at least make it to the last game.
Since Mcnabb is not playing I am sure Beck and Bartel will get the majority of the snaps in this game. Do not think he makes it past the cut to 53 though. First 5 look like this from me : 56 Gatewood, Curtis LB 6-3 240 2 Vanderbilt 05-18-1985 19 Wade, Bobby WR 5-10 195 7 Arizona 02-25-1981 Dearth or Sundberg 75 Scott, Darrion DE 6-3 289 4 Ohio State 10-25-1981 One of the Safties, either the Rookie from OH or Lendy Holmes |

I think D Thomas is safe. I actually think that his lack of playing time was MS/KS way of saying we know what we are going to get from DT, lets see which kid steps up. Armstrong clearly did, so the competition is between Banks and Austin. DT will definitely make it through this cut and the next one too, unless he just blows plays big time against AZ. Wade won't be on the team, but will he make it past this cut, I guess I agree with artmonkHOF, he won't. So that probably keeps Kelly safe for Tuesday's cuts... |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Howard Green
Lendy Holmes Justin Tryon Rob Jackson Dennis Morris I'm taking random educated guesses. |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
0 chance devin thomas gets the axe just yet..malcom kelly on the otherhand...I think he could be done.

re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Bartel or Beck, can't decide.. Bobby Wade, Howard green, Malcom Kelly, maybe banks but I hope not
|
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Bartel looked pretty solid against the Jets. Beck.........
|
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Clint Oldenburg OT
Bobby Wade WR Darrel Young RB Shay Hodge WR Curtis Gatewood LB I really liked the offseason signing of Wade but it seems his career is over. The others were extreme longshots anyway. Bartel is almost surely cut Friday though, unless he posts a perfect game against the Cards. |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
I left Dennis Morris, Hodge, and other rookies off thinking they may be practice squad players.
I think 90% off the rookie make it to the final cuts so they are a little protected so they can still make the ps. |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Henson makes this team, no doubt.
Has his play been that solid? I really hadn't seen much of him, and considered him an expendable Vinny pick. I remember last year when he was picked he didn't get much love, and hadn't heard much in the paper about him. I suppose he could just be a quiet solid player. |

re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
If you read the article of Redskins.com listed above, apparently he is leading the team in ST tackles, has a sack, a FF, and some defensive tackles.
I left him off just based on reading the article. C- having not read that srticle I would have thought he has not done much of anything this preseason. With the switch to the 3-4 we need LBs so this may be his saving grace for this season. |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Thanks sir, I hadn't read all the articles. Guess he has been a silent worker, good for him.

I thought Beck sounded (didn't get to see the game) soild driving on their first team D. What about one of the three old RBs? Are they going to try to keep all three? I would think Parker wouldn't make the 53 man.. |
re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
I still hold a bit of a grudge agianst him for bashing us fansfor booing the team last year.
Remember he was the twitter asshole. |

That is a good question Bmore. At the beginning of camp I would have said it is definate that WP is gone, now I do not know with the lack of PT ATV has gotten over the last 2 weeks. I think williams may be holding the edge over Torrian now since he has seen more pt in the last 2 games. Thus leaving a small window for WP to make the squad. We will find out soon enough. In fact, this may be the week that we cut lose one of the older RB to let him get a shot on another team. |

Bartel, Hodge, Green, Holmes, Robinson
Surprised no one has said Robinson already. |

In the event that he CAN play Thursday, I'd keep him around to audition him. I'm more in favor of putting him in IR, but if they cut him, I couldnt be too upset at this point. |

The real cut is next weekend. |

Why the hell would they want an oft injured WR? His butt gets cut next weekend.

re: First Cuts: Holmes, E. Williams, Dearth, Davis
Well if this is true, than yes Beck and Bartel both will get lots of game time Thursday - from rotoworld.com :
Rex Grossman told beat writers Ryan O'Halloran and Grant Paulsen that he would be held out of the Redskins' preseason finale. Coach Mike Shanahan later told Paulsen that "McNabb's status could change how much he plays Grossman." Sitting Grossman for the preseason finale signals that the team doesn't want their backup getting hurt, leading us to deduce that the team is more concerned with Donovan McNabb's ankle injury than they have let on. Better off cutting Kelly, keeping Galloway for a season and draft/acquire some rooks next preseason. Draft a guy, then sign a bunch of undrafted Wrs. Odds are we can find another Armstrong, then we will be styling for awhile at WR!!!! |
