RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

Redskins Insider - Redskins would rather face Kolb than Vick, Rogers says

Once again, Jason Reid always has to have these misleading titles.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

Who cares what Rogers says? If it wasn't for our horrible debth at CB, he prob would be demoted to the nickle spot. He needs to worry about not getting owned by Jackson/Maclin hell even Avant. I Can't believe he's still on our team after last season. He won't be next season I HOPE.

"But also we're going to have to put our hands on these receivers to not climb up on the safeties. Every week, they're getting 40-, 50-, 60-yard touchdowns. You look at [wide receiver DeSean] Jackson got only [13] catches. But he's leading the league in yardage, so that's something we got to do to stop them from getting up on our safeties."

LMAO Really???? Carlos couldn't jam AIR. His slow ass will get toasted. How many holding or Illegal Contact calls for 22 this week?

He gives tidbits about how they're going to defend Vick. They're going to use DBs to spy on him, which means more room for Jackson and Maclin, which means both of them are burnt toast.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

Basically we need a great pass rush this week to slow down Vick. If 98 is solid then we have a shot

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

It's not exactly the same thing, but I'm surprised I haven't heard anyone around the league compare the emergence of vick with the emergence of the wildcat. Both have radical implications for defenses trying to shut them down, but does anyone else feel like it's only a matter of time before defenses really figure out how to eliminate vick as a gamechanger, just as they did with the wildcat? Vick's had great success, but it's come against teams like the lions and the jaguars, who both have very subpar defenses - I'm interested to see what the brighter defensive coordinators and more talented defenses will do to shut him down. Big test for jim haslett this week, one that I'm not really that confident he's up for...

Pardon me whilst I yawn...

This is pretty standard mid-week grist for an upcoming NFL Division game.

Lots of form; not a lot of substance...

Landry isn't a huge part of coverage schemes as is. But what this will do is essentially tell Vick that we're only going to play a few different coverages against him. So he should know where to go with the ball pre-snap on a lot of plays, if he's a competent player.

If we get our pressure schemes on Vick quickly, it won't matter.

Well, if the Eagles center blows the protection calls, we'll get the pressure. If he doesn't, sit in fear for bombs to a WR or McCoy busting a long one after breaking a tackle.
With Kemo or AH on the field, the pocket will likely not be collapsed.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

They better go pull up tape from when the Bears played the Falcons when Vick was QB cause the Bears got in his ass. Pressured him and forced him to throw the ball or he was sacked.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

I'll bet Landry is chomping at the bit to get a good lick on Vick -- and if he does, it might put Vick out of the game -- but I worry he's going to play him too aggressive. Spies need to be conservative and that isn't exactly Landry's forte.

Definitely starting DeSean Jackson in fantasy this week. Dude's been killing it so far this year.

There's no need to root for Jackson to score a touchdown. He scores them just fine against us when we're rooting against him.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

First, I see no benificial reason for openly telling the Eagles how they intend to defend. Even if what Rogers is saying is a part of the defensive game plan, the idea should be scrapped sight on seeing. We have no one on defense capable of running with Vick without sacraficing other areas of the defense.

Rush four down linemen [stay in their lanes] control rush Vick, keep him contained in the pocket as much as possible and force him to beat us passing from the pocket. I don't have a lot of confidence in the scheme they've been playing against a QB like Vick. If Vick has limited trouble getting to the edge, he'll make LB's like AC look awfully bad.

Unlike last week, I'm confident the Skins have heard of Desean Jackson.

Jags never heard of him before

According to the prosecutor's statement of facts in the case, between 2002 and 2007 Michael Vick and his co-conspirators Purnell Peace, Quanis Phillips and Tony Taylor killed thirteen dogs by various methods including wetting one dog down and electrocuting her, hanging, drowning and shooting others and, in at least one case, by slamming a dog’s body to the ground.

Michael Vick didn't make a mistake. He didn't "make a bad choice." Over a period of five years he forced dogs into deadly fights, and he personally killed, or conspired to kill, thirteen dogs. He didn't pick a quick, painless method of killing, but instead chose a variety of means that qualify as torture. Pit Bulls are powerful dogs. Imagine how hard you would have to work to kill a Pit Bull by forcibly drowning him.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution also reports, "Sometimes [the dogs] were starved to make them more vicious in the pit."

And Michael Vick didn’t confine the abuse and killing to his own Pit Bulls
.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

I have to ask you guys...

Do you guys believe he is truly rehabilitated from his interviews or is it a front?

What do I mean?
A)I mean,do you believe he truly recognizes that what he did was really bad and evil to those Dogs?

B)Or do you think he feels he let people down by doing what he did as an all-star athlete and was caught doing those things?

I think it's B) I believe he is truly sorry about letting his fans down and getting caught doing what he did because of the public perception of it.

I do NOT believe he is actually holding guilt for the awful things he did to those poor dogs because he said in the interview he was doing that dog fighting thing even before he was in the league.

And to me...there's a HUGE difference in this thought process...
I hope I'm wrong and he truly has reflected on what he did to those poor Pit Bulls and possibly other dog breeds.

Like I said before. I'm all for giving him a second chance as it really seems like he's changed for the better. Plus if Donovan's willing to vouch for him then I can at least look at Vick in a positive light. On the flip side when he gets crushed by two Redskins on the 1 yard line during a play that's called back, I'm not going to feel sorry for him.

There's obviously a bit of hypocrisy when it comes to animals. Especially when 99% of us sit down at the table and enjoy a nice steak or glazed chicken. Even though those animals are killed with more humane methods they're still killed. It's just like Dennis Leary said, we only want to save the cute animals.
"I don't want to eat the meat because I love the animals. I love the animals." Hey, I love the animals too. I love my doggy. He's so cute. My fluffy little dog.. He's so cute-

There's the problem. We only want to save the cute animals, don't we? Yeah. Why don't we just have animal auditions. Line 'em up one by one and interview them individually.

"What are you?" "I'm an otter." "And what do you do?" "I swim around on my back and do cute little human things with my hands." "You're free to go." "And what are you?" "I'm a cow." "Get in the ****ing truck, ok pal!" "But I'm an animal." "You're a baseball glove! Get on that truck!" "I'm an animal, I have rights!" "Yeah, here's yer ****ing cousin, get on the ****ing truck, pal!"

We kill the cows to make jackets out of them and then we kill each other for the jackets we made out of the cows.
For me the crimes I can't forgive are rape, assault against women and children, and unjustifiable homicide. Dog fighting I can start to give a second chance but it's always going to be there in the back of mind.

Why do we constantly harp on Vick's dog fighting days? It's over and he's paid his debt. Personally, and as a football fan, I'm glad he's doing his thing on the field. Don't get me wrong, I was happy we knocked the snot out of him yesterday! LOL

Damn I bet he was sore this morning.

Re: RI: Rogers on dealing with Vick

Vick has paid his debt (to my knowledge) to society which in my book gives him all the same rights as the rest of us, unless stipulated under the law.
Is he rehabilitated? From torturing, and killing mans best friend......doubtful. That's like a head thing...Dahmer style guy in training....mentally defective.
HOWEVER, until he does something else, he's free to do as he wishes........
And I don't know if it's true, but Hall and Moore are HUGE dog lovers....Karma, man
