RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas

Just heard on 106.7 TheFan the Redskins are shopping him right now. I believe I heard the Raiders.

Doubt anyone would give up much in return. 6th or 7th rounder at best probably.

WTF? Is he really bad at WR? I really had high hopes for him.

Raiders?

Colt Brennan return?

Actually, we'd gladly take their punter if they pay part of his ridiculously-high contract. The Raiders have both the highest-paid Kicker AND Punter on their team. :D

I'd rather not see this happen. He's a talented depth player even if not contributing yet. If Moss or Armstrong go down, he could be very valuable. Not sure that Banks can play WR full time at his size.

If we do trade him, I guess T. Austin would be promoted.

Not necessarily bad, but hasn't shown much on the field unfortunately (or taken much advantage of opportunities). I'm sure some team with need at WR depth would take him for a lower round pick.

Likely scenerio that T.Austin could return.

After watching Brandon Lloyd climb to potential pro bowler, with more yards then 99% of the NFL, I must say I'm a little hesitant to deal DT if for nothing more then he's a monster on kick returns.

so officially Kelly and Thomas busts? yup....we aint gonna get sh*t for him, pair him with Albert or Carter and send'm somewhere

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas

I personally don't like DT's atheltism. He runs straight lines like Forrest Gump and his lateral agility is pretty poor.

The guy may be fast but only in straight lines. You force this guy to shift directions and he starts to show his lack of atheltism.

Trade this guy for a pair of shoelaces and call it a day.

I don't think you should evaluate players you keep like that. What I want to know is is Devin Thomas not good enough to get on the field with Banks or Armstrong on the roster? If that's the case then I would trade him. Plus Thomas is doing so well returning kickoffs.

Maybe Banks has arrived and is taking over? I saw that they didn't put him out there in second half.

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas

At this point, it makes sense. Thomas may light it up somewhere else. That's how the cookie crumbles but, a former 2nd round pick contributing only on special teams is essentially a waste. Let's hope for at least a 5th rounder. I'd be ok with that.

I understanad your frustration but, never devalue your own. They'll need as many picks as they can get next year.

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas

He looks pretty good on returns, but yes, if he's only doing that, then if we can get something for him I'll trust management on this one.

To the non trained football eye DT just looks like a good football player. I guess if Mike S is having a hard time w/ him maybe we can get something in return. And, yes we need draft picks. Preferably good draft picks.

I don't mean to sound ungratefull for what he has done but....... he's had maybe 2 good punt returns. This year each time he catch's the punt/kick off he bobbles the ball. His yards per return have to be worse then Cartwright at this point.

Eh, kick returns and punt returns seem different. Thomas is built better for kickoffs while Banks seems better suited for punts. Back in my high school days I was the wedge buster on kickoffs, and so I speak from experience when I say that kickoffs are more violent then punt returns. I also got to do it when I sneaked in to play 8th grade football, before I got caught at least.

Challenge Accepted Devin Thomas current average of 28 YPR is 6 yards higher then Rock Cartwrights average of 22.3 in 2009. I only compare these two years to compare with the rule changes. On top off that the 28 YPR average that Devin has posted so far is higher then any average Cartwright posted. Also for the record right now Cartwright is averaging 19.3 YPR.

If we're initializing all the trade talk what leverage are we bringing into the negotations?

Shanny knows he has a guy that is just not going to crack the roster no matter the opportunity granted.

He's a dead roster spot if he can't touch the field with less than elite talent ahead of him.

Putting a player on the block doesn't mean he's not valuable. Heck, cutting a player doesn't either.

How about Devin Thomas for Jason Campbell....
C'mon guys...he can really be a great QB
He just needs a few more years of development and he will be a Hall of famer...

I'm sorry...I had too..lol

What the hell does the guy do or not do that doesn't even give a chance to get on the field in front of someone like Banks? Baffled. No way in hell he runs routes in as limited a fashion as a guy like Banks does. No way.

I feel this is a questionable move. We need to atleast see what he can do during the games on offense.

You might as well chalk Heyward-Bey up there. That'll get the pessimists excited about direction this team is headed...

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas

After seeing what he did late last season, I find it hard to believe that he can't surpass AA & Galloway to at least get a screen or two thrown his way. I'm not saying the guy is all that, it just looks like it is attitude related & Shanny is making an example out of him.

If the coaches are really changing the culture of the team, maybe the approach towards Haynesworth & DT will have a valuable long-term impact. Seems both are better than some of the guys playing ahead of them.

my guess if they are going to deal him, Carolina may take a look. They aren't really sure how long Steve Smith will be out and they really have no one else worth a damn.. But i wouldn't expect much in return from them. They are notoriously cheap

Galloway maybe. AA, definitely not. At the very least AA is going to be our slot guy for the next 3 or 4 years.

Yeah AA burnt Asante Samuel yesterday. Safe to say he deserves to be ahead of DT on the depth chart.

If you trade him you probably bring TA up from the PS, and may get better production. I don't care about where we got him. If he cant get on the field we don not need him. IF KS and MS thought he could contribute on offense he would be out there guys.

Carolina's getting ready to have a fire sale of their own. DeAngelo Williams and Steve Smith have been rumored to already be on the trade block. Plus with their own collection of 2nd and 3rd round disapointments at reciever I doubt they trade for ours (read: Keary Colbert and Dwayne Jarret).

One things for sure. The Shanahan's love speed.

Yeah, I guy no one has any tapes on this season isn't going to get much. 7th rounder at best and if we are lucky a 6th rounder or a conditional pick.

He's an underachieving Vinny pick. He's going to be gone sooner or later. I just hope its for a draft pick and not a player.

The most we can hope for is a few kicking tees and some footballs signed by DeSean Jackson.

Eddie Royal was a rookie and he earned the starting spot on the Broncos' roster ahead of vets on the team. He also was a punt returner. So don't say Shanny just doesn't wanna play the young guys.

Re: RUMOR: Skins Want To Deal Devin Thomas

Most of our WR's are running routes as decoys why not let DT do the same the only WR's catching the ball is Moss, AA sometimes, JG sometimes why not give DT a chance. I guess the FO knows best.
