What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
I have heard rumors lately matching Vick and the Redskins in 2011. Boomer Esiason and Keyshawn both said on separate shows this morning that Vick could end up with us. I know he's from the Virginia area and all but come on.. We still have a QB that is a HOF type player with 8 games left to play! This Is why I hate QB controversies. Now we will have to hear these rumors for the rest of the season.. SMH
Btw would you guys even want Mike Vick in a redskins uniform? It's not like he's young anymore. |

Dog killers not welcome!

Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
I Certainly hope we don't even think of doing this.
#1- I was against McNabb too but pleasantly supprised. #2- We don't need a QB controversy between McNabb and Vick like the Eagles ahd. #3- I thought Vick would come back and be a monster in order to prove himself, but to me he's not changed. No need to take him. |

Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
I'd rather invest any free agent money in the offensive line.
|
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Well I wouldn't worry about Philly letting him go the way he's played this yr
|
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Vick is only 30 years old, plus, we don't have a nucleus of young players anyway. Michael Vick still has at-least 4 more productive seasons, possibly more if he can stay healthy.
Watching him against the Colts today he is continuing to impress me. If we decide to bring him here, it would be a waste with our current roster of WR's. The front office needs to aggressively shore up our receiving corps. We can't afford to pass up on people like Santonio Holmes, Terrell Owens, and Anquan Boldin. Next year Santonio Holmes, Malcom Floyd, Steve Breaston, Braylon Edwards, and James Jones are unrestricted free agents. We need to sign at-least 2 of them. Spend our first round pick on another offensive lineman, along with Vick, the Redskins will be beyond formidable for the next 4 years. |

Yeah, if he continues to play the way he is, it wouldn't surprise me if they franchised him. |
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
You guys are crazy. I want my team to win. Hell yea I would want mike vick in 2011. Idc what he did in his past, I'm not trying to hang with him, I'm trying to have him win me some football games.

Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
If we did, we wouldn't have to address the line as much:)
|
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Philly is not going to let him walk. He's really starting to look like a NFL QB.
|
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
There's a log jam at QB in Philly as they have 2 legit starters. I wouldnt be surprised if Philly decides 1 will be the starter and moves the other.
To answer the question do I want MV here? No, he's a nice regular season QB but his run & throw style just doesnt win Super Bowls. |

lol, but even after saying he was going to avoid hits he still stayed in bounds too long a few times yesterday. He's always been injury prone. He's likely to get hurt again. |
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
I have to believe that the front office and shannahan are trying to change the culture of the team, they passed on numerous Diva WRs this year and I have to believe that has alot to do with what type of people they were (Holmes, TO, Moss, I don't know anything about Boldin other than he is tough as a coffin nail) so if that is true then no way we bring in Mike Vick AKA Ron Mexico. Plus he hurts marketing to a certain extent and Snyder wont let that happen.
|
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
It would be great to have Vick here. He is at this point in time WAY better than McNabb and has much more left in the tank. With that said, we need to do what Detroit has done as far as QB is concerned.
Develop a young QB. |

Shanahan couldn't give a damn about off the field issues so long as on the practice field and gameday, you do your work. Brandon Marshall is the perfect example. Vick's issues are totally outside of football itself. He's not taking plays off, he's not skipping film practice, he's not displaying "laziness" of any sort with regards TO FOOTBALL. |

He is the number one rated QB in the NFL right now. |

Your a fool to argue with this^^^^ Like it or not Vick is a Great QB! My guess is he plays out the rest of his productive career as a Eagle. |
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Mike Vick is going to get an effing HUGE contract at the end of the year. Guy is playing lights out AGAIN. But I would pass on Vick...to much of an injury risk

What has happened to Vick over his career to make you say that?? he got hit in the ribs this year...but I can't recall other than that where he missed serious time....definatley not like McNabb, who has missed at least 4 games a year in every season except 1 that I can think of... |

well he missed almost an entire year due to injury one year 04 or 05...??? So yeah, if your a running QB, your an injury risk. I dont think you give a big contract to QB like that... |

Vick is more of a pocket passer than he used to be but he still doesnt have the deft touch of a true passer. He is excellent at throwing long bullet passes to wide open receviers but I dont think he can throw a short touch pass very well. I'm still not sold on MV. |

One thing that is concerning to me is: We seem to be passing up good talent for the sake of change. I agree we have made some stupid acquisitions over the years but that does not mean there is not some legit talent on the market from time to time. They should not be looked over simply to fulfill a "change in culture" We in times past have jumped at everyone who ever offered a glimmer of hope to what now seems like we are looking over everyone for the sake of the "new order of things" I hope we are not going from one extreme to the other. I know FO wants a new image but... Some moves are still worth the risks IMO. |

I think MV missed a good part of a season with a broken foot in 2003 but other then that he has started every game except this year. Michael Vick, QB for the Philadelphia Eagles at NFL.com |

No Brother... Hahaa, Anyone who would argue with your post. I thought your post was right on! |
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Vick has played better than Philly themselves expected of him, but I think people want to be careful before they anoint him Philly's franchise QB. The offense fits him like a glove and he looks very, very comfortable.
On the downside, he's still one of the most frequently sacked players in NFL history and that no-turnovers rate is certain to regress starting next week vs. us. If there's any one area he's improved since his days as a Falcon, it's probably his running. He used to run for a lot of yards and big plays in the past, usually leaving passing opportunities on the table. This year he's running with a purpose and using his legs when the options downfield are less than ideal (i.e. not open), and he's extending drives with his legs which makes him a lot more difficult to defend. This is also as accurate as I've ever seen him, which is obviously a bonus for Philly. |
Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Whatever happens, in this league of serious lacking of starting QB talent, Vick is going to get paid, big time. Whoever signs him will be taking a risk.

Re: What's up with all this Mike Vick talk?
Yeah, VIck has returned to his old form causing havoc. Theres no way the Eagles would want to seperate Vick/Desean Jackson. Thats a dynamic teams wish for. They struck gold.
Before anything else we need to find a Center, RT, and look at our Guard situation before we invest heavily in a QB. I'll say this, I am a Vick fan 'ON THE FIELD' and I would welcome him as a Skin but the cost would be too high. We took the wrong Philly QB and we have to live with it for the rest of this season. Theres no long term plan with DM. Joe Theisman had a note hanging in his locker, "You dont have to be the reason the team wins just dont be the reason why the team loses" I think if we revamp the OL and get some WR weapons and figure out a RB that will be upright all year and play the scheme which fits our personnel we can get back to winning and playing Skins football. Im eager to see the changes that will be made knowing what we know after a year under the Shannies. The NFC East is up for grabs if the SKINS would get it together. |

Terrific nugget from Sunday morning's "NFL Matchup'' show: When Michael Vick was sandwiched five weeks ago and suffered a rib injury against Washington, a review of the coaches video found Vick should never have taken off to run. He had a crosser, from right to left, totally uncovered in the middle of the field and just never saw him. Great example of how Vick still doesn't see the whole field when he goes back to throw. For him to have a long career, he has to learn to scan the field better so he doesn't endure the kind of hits a quarterback is bound to receive if he takes off six or eight times a game, every week. Not sure what Boomer and Keyshawn said, but they could have been responding to what Clayton "boldly predicted" last week. Keep in mind, this is just Clayton speculating. He's not sharing any rumor or anything like that

Schefter's take on things is much more reasonable and level headed over these bold predictions.
