Brandon Banks Knee Surgery

Really bad news, guys...

According to the WaPo Brandon Banks out at least two weeks after knee surgery during bye week.

Read about it here:

Very Frustrating! Lets hope he comes back the way he left.

Devin Thomas would sure come in handy. I'd like to see Austin though, if he's in 'The Plan', who knows?

Re: Brandon Banks Knee Surgery

I'm guessing no one actually read the link. He will be out at most two weeks (barring any setback). Banks and his agent said yesterday he's doing well and he's already moving around. Possible that all he misses is the Eagles game

Was it just some kind of scope procedure? Doesn't sound major. Maybe they were just removing some scar tissue or something like that.

They are making it sound minor but the way he has been playing, I don't think they would risk surgery at this point unless it was leading up to something more serious. Better to address it now then later.

Re: Brandon Banks Knee Surgery

this was a surprise as I don't recall any news of him being hurt or limited. I know injuries can surface after games & in practice. Sucks that it comes right after his biggest game.

He kept us in the detroit game. The kick return blocking was great, hope that can continue. Not expecting much on punt returns w/him out.

Devin Thomas ?, who needs him when we have Joey Galloway AND Roydell Williams. We should have traded Moss and Cooley for draft picks and sured up our K/P spots for next year.

devin thomas is frikkin lighting it up over there in carolina, Im so pissed we cut ties with him, I mean, If we could have given him 2 or 3 more years, who knows where he could be. He could even be STARTING as a kick returner. Think of all the possibilities. Mike Shanahan really fukkin blew it, IMHO.

He was inactive this week...and EVERY WEEK he's been on the Panthers. :benched:

He hasn't even caught a ball this season? How is he lighting it up? Banks is a hell of a lot better than Thomas in the returns.

The point is, who's gonna be the returner for the next 2 weeks? Thomas did a solid job at that.

I hoped so, but you never know around here.

If there's no smiley, I assume they're serious when in doubt.

We have some serviceable returners. None with Banks' game-changing speed, but Moss, Hall, Buchanon (did well), maybe Keiland Williams and we could always promote Austin.

I wouldn't want Moss or Hall doing it full time, but when we need a spark, they're useful.

Chad Simpson's pretty solid, was with Indy last year at least, as a kick returner

Ha! That is funny.
If we needed to clog up a roster spot with a low production player that excelled at male modeling and making music videos, he would be perfect.
Production on the field is not really important.

Do we have Bank$ signed long term? IDK his contract as he was practice squad before making the roster right? Give my man a holiday bonu$ (not much) He's taking more to the hou$e this year.

Devin Thomas has taken his act to Carolina - - where just as in Washington - - he cannot find his way onto the field on Sundays. No apperances in games yet.

And it's not as if the Pantloads are on some kind of roll where they don't want to break up a winning combo or anything like that...

By the way, two of the guys playing in front of him are rookies. I thought rookies weren't supposed to be able to be any good at WR because it took a couple of years to learn how to play at the NFL level...

That does sound familiar...should be Devin Thomas's catch phrase

Damn. He was one of only a handfull of Skins that was actually earning his money. Without him in the Lions game, they would've blown us out. As a returner, he's our best chance at offensive points.

He will probably only be out for the Eagles game. With that said, if the Eagles are going to beat us, which they most likely will. (Lets be realistic) it will be with or without Banks.

If McNabb shows up, we wont need good field position to win. If he doesn't, it wont matter.

Home game, Torrain back in the lineup, McNabb with a wakeup call and 2 weeks to get right, and I think our defense is ready to go. Vick may be feeling well now but our defense is going to bring the lumber and 2x4 him 'jim dungan style' Hooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need all the help we can get with field position. Hell, special teams played HUGE role in us having all the close games we had in the first half of the season.

The offense has been averaging an abysmal points per game recently.

I agree SCP but, at the end of the day, this game all rides on DM. If he converts we win, if he's throwing at the ground and into triple coverage... well you know the story. Unless of course Banks would have brought it to the house on every return.

(Assuming D plays well too, of course) for those that would argue.

Redskins Insider - Team hopes Brandon Banks will be back in 2-3 weeks

An MRI exam last Tuesday revealed a meniscus tear. Banks traveled to Birmingham, Ala., on Wednesday to meet with renowned orthopedist James Andrews, who recommended immediate surgery.

"I really don't know" how long he'll be out, Shanahan said. "Usually, it takes two to three weeks, and we'll just kind of see how he heals."

Yeah, if it had to happen during season, it happened at just the right time. From what I know of this injury it takes 4 weeks to run hard with lateral movement, so it may be a few more games. But still looking good worse case.

Kind of worried about this one. The guy is a midget out there with people 2-3x his size. I'm worried this is the start of multiple injuries for him.

Hope he gets back on the field, but I also hope he stays healthy for us.
