off season cuts&additions
i think chad morton is gone,so is barrow(like he ever played),ray brown is history.
if ramsey screws up as bad as brunnell did,do you think both of them will be cut? please give your input.:httr: |
[QUOTE=BIGREDSKINFAN63]i think chad morton is gone,so is barrow(like he ever played),ray brown is history.
if ramsey screws up as bad as brunnell did,do you think both of them will be cut? morton will prolly be gone, barrow will stay, brown is gone, hard to say what gibbs is gonna do about ramsey and brunnel, i also think samuells will stay, smoot will stay, coles will stay, gardner will be traded for whatever we can get. some of the backup defensive players ( peirce, marshall, etc. ) could be trade bait to upgrade other areas. |
Have people forgotten that the only reason Ray Brown is here is because of Jon Jansen's injury? Ray Brown may be gone next year, but its not like he was an overpaid bust.
|
Morton= Gone
Barrow will still be here I think. R. Brown is out Gardner is PROBOLY gone I think Ramsey as long as he is content down the stretch is more than ok. Brunell will proboly be fine too because of his contract. Gotta work somthing with Samuels too. |
why cut pierce? he's been playing amazing football.
Ramsey has been trippling Brunell's performance and he's gone against decent Ds. I want to see him against a team like the Giants. |
why cut pierce? he's been playing amazing football.
i don't think they'll cut him, i was just thinking maybe using him in a trade to upgrade a different position, just a thought but your right he has played great |
We should keep Pierce and Marshall since both have played really well. I expect to get some flak for saying this but we should keep Ray Brown and use Samuels and Gardner in a trade. Perhaps we can get someone like Kurt Warner or Drew Brees along with a draft pick. I would use our first pick on either an offensive lineman or a receiver.
Our defense is good enough as is. No need to get rid of many (if any) players there; let the current guys grow together. Our needs lie at qb, wr, and offensive line. Gibbs won't likely draft a qb in the first or second rounds, so we should be looking for the best lineman or receiver available in the draft and trading for a qb. |
First of all we can't trade Pierce because he is a free agent.
Morton Gone Bowen Gone Brunnel should be gone, we need to get rid of his salary as fast as we can. |
Morton & Gardner gone. May as well cut Barrow also since the LB's have done fine without him. Ramsey definitely still here but I think his performance down the stretch may determine to some extent whether or not he starts next year.
|
morton is a possibility but that won't happen til sometime in training camp I think after they find someone their comfortable with being the prominent return man.
gardner is gonna stay around for another year unless someone offers a 3rd or better for him. ramsey's gone for whatever we can get for him unless he proves during the last few games that he deserves to be our qb of the future. if we can find a way, brunnel's gonna be gone. I agree that there's a big possibility of samuels getting traded if he doesn't rework his contract for us. wynn has to rework his contract or he's gone. Hopefully Smoot is here next year but don't be suprised that if we can't offer what he's looking for, that he gets tagged(if we can) and we get a 1st and a 2nd rounder for him. and if mike williams isn't there when it comes to our selection in the draft, trade down, garner more picks, and draft bralin edwards from michigan or one of the top olineman available. anyone know of any high quality centers in the draft this year? and whomever believes bowen is gone obviously didn't see how much Greg williams loved using him near the line of scrimmage while he was healthy. |
no kurt warner
|
And no Drew Brees..... i know there will be some disagreement with this one.
|
In regards to Morton, can we cut him if he's hurt or do we need to reach an injury settlement? I think Barrow will be back. I don't see us cutting Samuels with no-one who is ready to step in immediately. I see us adding depth on the OL and DL, plus some depth at TE. I don't think that this will be a typical Redskins offseason with splashy signings and a whoel bunch of money spent.
Why do some posters think that Garder has no trade value? He is a (somewhat) proven #2 reciever, he has 2 1,000 yd seasons and was a #1 pick a couple of years ago. |
QB situation
Obviously we have needs at the o-line, but what about our qb situation? I know Gibbs doesn't favor using young qbs (we probably wouldn't draft higher than the third round if we picked one) but do you think he'll stick with Ramsey and Brunell? I think Ramsey MIGHT be the qb of the future, but like someone else said, he needs to prove himself over these last few weeks. Brunell seems to be washed up, but we probably won't get rid of him because of that mega contract. Tim Hasselbeck is a good backup in my opinion.
I agree that Brees isn't a good option for us (he doesn't seem like a Gibbs qb) but what about Warner? When given enough time, he is very accurate. I expect the o-line's pass protection to significantly improve by next year and he might be a good acquisition if we can get him cheap. Maybe it would be best to stick with the guys we have now and let Ramsey develop. Interested in hearing somebody else's thoughts on this issue. |

No new QB's, period. Stick with Ramsey as the starter, Brunell the #2 and Hasselbeck as #3. |
we have to keep our qbs, for cap reason. We cant afford to cut brunell as much as you might want to do it. We have to hope that Ramsey continues to grow and becomes a starter. Either way we cant get a QB this year.
|
I also think its stupid to trade Samuels and Gardner, whats the point of this move. In my opinion all that does is give us less consistency, which is our greatest weakness. We dont need to go sign superstars, we just need to play as a team. I hope we have alsmot all our starters return, with mabye a key free agent signing on the dline, and then a top draft choice be a backup, mabye a midseason starter.
|
All if we still have Vinny as GM
Gardner will still be here unless we draft Mike Williams Ramsey will be traded with a second round pick next year for phillip Rivers of San Diego Brunnel will sadly be here Barrow will be here Morton Cut Smoot here Wynn Gone Chris Hovan signed to come here Bowen gone Clark resigned long term Pierce resigned long term then traded for a pick Ray brown retire Samuels Resigns for cheaper We'll draft either Cadillac Williams, a explosuve gaurd, or good DE or a big play tightend Strong Safety drafted in the third. We'll do something stupid though like trade Smoot and a pick for Ty Law or something like that. u never know with the skins |
Samuels will resign at a cheaper price.
We wont draft a HB, no matter who is available at our spot We will use our first round pick on a Dlinemen if theres a stud available. We'll draft a corner back in a later round for depth. Smoot definitly gets resigned I didnt hear anything about hovan but that woudl give us two stud DTs |
I hope we don't get a HB but whether u want to realize it or not Portis has goten more less and less reps in the game. I believe Hovan is in a contract year and he doesn't even start for the vikes anymore i've heard. The drafts first round won't be on d period because we overachied this year it will be an offensive player most likely an o lineman.
As for smoot I want nothing less for him to resign but we all know he has been on the trading block before and i could see them doing something similar to what they did to the fullback Johnson last year. but I hope not |

LOL I guess people like cap hits, I agree trading Gardner and Samuels isn't a smart move and isn't likely to happen anyway. People play too much Madden I think. |
I don't think the press helps either. There was a time when changing all your coaching staff, your QB, HB etc. etc. was reason to belive there would be a downturn in performance on the field untill everyone got on the same page.
Maybe it is the rise of the cinderella teams like the Raiders, Panthers and Falcons that has changed perceptions but I still say and will always say these things take time. We could still finish with a better record than last year.
