America the Ignorant

some of this stuff is just sad, but not all that surprising I guess

Not sure how people could think Obama is Muslim after he sat in curch with mr "God Dam America" and all his hate on America for 20 some years.

Re: America the Ignorant

I am 100% sure some irritated liberal made that list.

The one that irked me was that 60 something percent of young Americans can't find Iraq on the map. Come on.

That sort of reminded me of that "Jay Walking" skit that Leno does, where he walks the street and asks folks some ridiculously easy questions... and finds people who think Abraham Lincoln was the 1st president. Fail.

Re: America the Ignorant

Matty- you're right though. It's is sad, and sadly not surprising. Society will continue to deteriorate into stupidity and ignorance as long as people keep spending more time in front of facebook than real books.

That's like saying because you go to a church where the priest molests boys, because you didn't say anything, you have a hand in it. Okay so that may not be the best example but...

Association doesn't always bring assimilation. But I guess when you're president, it kinda does? Whatevs.

Well if the priest was molesting boys in front of the person then yes they would have a hand in it. Sorry but Obama sat in that church for 20 yrs and why would you go to a church if you did not believe in what the person was breaching. Its old news so I was just trying to make a point why everyone should know he went to church.

But that shouldn't have a hand in people thinking he's Muslim. A bad American perhaps. But connecting the church sitting incidient with that is like saying an apple is an orange.

The overall ignorance of society in general is scary. And to think these are the people voting people into office, is it any wonder why the country is so F'd up??

Critical thinking is a lost art.

People are too intellectually lazy to think for themselves. It's much easier to ally oneself with a certain group and then just accept the party line.

No I'm saying people should know he went to church because of how much that was in the news. Well now that I think about it maybe the news ignored that story also. LOL

Not sure if those go hand in hand.

Of course it does. People are sheep. They don't want to go to the trouble of acquiring an informed opinion, it's too hard and it takes too long. They just want to pick a team and have their leaders tell them what to think and who to hate. Nobody will admit it but how else do you explain the absolute mess that is our government? If the majority of the country was actually plugged into what was going on, would that nonsense about Obama being Muslim have even made the news? Of course not, it was bullshit, and the jackasses reporting it knew it was bullshit. They only did it because they knew they had an enormous audience of slack jawed idiots who would believe whatever silliness came out of the magic porn box in front of them.

God, I hate people.

Ok, some of those issues could be what party you follow but most of those things are just plan schooling or reading or the lack there of. I can't ever recall anyone ever saying Obama was Muslim. I thought the left excepted everyone so why would it even matter.

I think the lister better distinguish between geocentrists and people who do not believe the Sun in the absolute center of the universe or solar system, since the Sun is neither the center of the universe nor the solar system.

During the election, I repeatedly heard people say that Obama was a) muslim and b) not born in the US. Invariably, the commenters were of the uneducated portion of our labor force. Again, I'm a registered republican, but ignorance is ignorance.

Re: America the Ignorant

Like Buster a lot of them really are "simple folks." Americans are by far the people with the most tools and information at their disposal yet they are the least informed. I wonder if it has always been like that? Perhaps America attracted the entrepreneurs and fortune seekers along with plain dumb folks who were ostracized in their motherland. I can see how you would want to leave if you're the town idiot.

Well if you watch the news it seems that way. On a side note. Last week I watched a show about how the Rep. stole the 2000 and 2004 election in Ohio. It was so funny they had all these people saying how when they pushed a vote for Gore and Kerry the light for Bush would light up. They talked about how they would push the button over and over but still the Bush light came on. They had all these people have this problem but no one seemed to have recorded this happening. Come on you want me to believe that no one could whip out a phone or something and record this happening?

The other problem with Americans is that they are incapable of introspection and reflection of other possibilities.

According to this, 25% of Americans believe in astrology. Wow. One in four people believe either a) the crap in the newspaper horoscopes or b) that the positions of other planets and stars have an influence over how your day goes.

I can't say I'm surprised. Remember, half of all people are more stupid than average.

... I follow astrology. I never read horoscopes in the newspaper but I like reading about star signs, traits and what not. I voted for Obama.

Shit, my life's a waste. :(

Technically, it is the focus of an ellipse.
