Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
It's that dreaded time of year again when we have the anniversary of Sean's death. I don't have the right words to say as I haven't found peace with it. I always reflect on his career and what could have been for the team/fans/ and more sadly his family. He was horribly taken and too soon from us all. IDK, what Snyder has planned to honor the Taylors before the game. Every game I go to I take a picture of his name in the ring of honor and hang my head and wish I had the honor of knowing him. Emotions will be running high for the team and those closer to him. There is a lot more important than football but I wish they play well on/around this time of year just to uphold his spirit and never let his memory fade. Its Vikings week home game obviously. I hope the team rallies around the amazing ST and appreciate each other all the more.
Along with taking a picture of his honor ring before every game I play the video b/c I havent found a mp3 of the actual song but its "Every Given Sunday" and I wanted to share the link for all to enjoy. HTTR -21 forever, peace, and love Skins family. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mWBMiWc6bw]YouTube - "Every Given Sunday" OFFICIAL SEAN TAYLOR TRIBUTE VIDEO!!!![/ame] |

Seriously guys don't start if you think we should be over this. Everybody heals in their own way, so I'm not suprised some people aren't over this. Let them have their space to deal with it. I've made my peace with his death and his murderers, and it was a tragic accident that never should've happened, but for me the best way to honor him is to remember the impact he made, not just on the field, but in other ways as well. I don't necessarily think we need a Memorial Week in his honor but just let it go man. |
Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
I dont think Insane is exercising his right to be ignorant and silence another Skins fan for the memory of ST b/c if he felt that way I know he would have the better judgement to keep it to himself. No harm no foul.

In this case I'd say it's a fail. Best to heed Mom's advice sometimes when it comes to not having anything nice to say.

If you don't like it, care, or want to be a part of his memory, please leave. We just remembered JFK's death date and anyone who said "here we go" would be recognized as a jackass. Don't litter in this thread. Anyways, this week is always bittersweet for me...my son was born the same week that Sean was murdered. I found out he died in the hospital from my wife as I came in to visit her and our new son. It was a total shock. Things seemed to look very optimistic for Sean's recovery and all of a sudden, we just lost him. RIP 21. Most of us still miss him and regret the great career and personal life that was stolen from all of us. He had turned everything around both on and off the field and had the whole world in front of him. Thank you for starting this thread, Dread-Skin. It's a significant part of our team history and for us diehard Skins fans, a major event in our lives. I've seen people posting 1991 season videos up this past week...no one complained about leaving that in the past. |

A lot of people have uttered that sentiment before receiving an equally-legitimate beatdown. Just saying. But, you can be as tough as you want overt he internet I guess. |
Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
Well it's not that, I just don't miss him. I mean it was sad when he died, then yeah a year later, but what is this, we're going to have a memorial week for the rest of our lives? I just don't see the point that's all.

By no means am I trying to upset anyone, I just don't see why we need a thread every year. I could understand every 5 years or something along that line, but at this pace, it's going to go on till the day we die. |
Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
RIP, such a sad series of events and almost non-events. He was a throwback player in this increasing day and age of the me-first mentality. The players said he didnt speak often but when he did, it was heard. Seemed like a quiet humble person off the field who completely transformed into a meast on the field. i like that

Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
All I could think of when Deshawn Jackson blew Laron up, that Taylor probably would have knocked him out on that play. For some reason that play made me think how much better our defense would be right now.

Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
I understand where IB is coming from but I also understand How IMPORTANT Sean was to our football team. I myself will always remember 21!

Rest in Peace Sean.

Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
this is a good thread, i'm not really sure what the problem is with remembering a great player, INSANE it's not like everyday we're sobbing and throwing up "I MISS SEAN" threads. i mean he impacted my life in a fairly large way. I didn't know him at all, but he was my last favorite player i will ever have. after he died i remember hearing about his crazy work ethic and leading by example. I especially remember hearing something his father said about hoping something good would come of his death. About a week after his death i told myself i would never stop trying to improve my life and those around me, because we don't have forever. I'll tell you how Sean impacted my life and see if might INSANE want to lose "the get over it!" attitude
I have mild spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy-which means i walk with a walker or i did at the time of Sean's death....now I use crutches. Sean's death was the catalyst for my change in attitude and also work ethic because i used to not care about getting stronger or stretching my legs, now i go to the gym 5 days a week about, 2 hours per day, along with stretching 2 additional hours a day and i have been for about 2 years now. I don't tell this to be inspiring or whatever, I just tell you because Sean Taylor did change my life for the better, I will never forget him PS- taking the time to remember him once a year isn't going to kill us is it??? |
Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
No problem, I'm just gonna start making threads for other players who have passed away. I think they all deserve just the same, especially ones who actually did things for the team more than play a couple seasons.

IrishSkins, that's a great story. God bless

RIP #21. I miss the guy, and still think about how sick it would have been to have him and Landry as our safety tandem.
I wonder how his fiancee Jackie and his little girl are doing these days? |

We can remember Sean but remember him correctly. If Patrick Crayton ran by him several times how would he have knocked Jackson out. You dont have to put down Landry to build Taylor up. Landry is playing as good this season as Sean ever did. Did Sean have a chance to be great yes but that chance was snuffed out by 3 thugs. I understand thinking about what could have been and I still do it sometimes but the time for memorials has passed. on a side note JFK was President there is a bit of a difference. |

He was not known for being out of position, like Laron. I would put money on it, that would not have happened if he was in there. He was a hall of fame saftey in the making. Boy you really can't seem to just let this go. It's like you feel this need to keep reiterating your tired ass point that his death was not that important to you. We get it. If you keep this tired charade up your posts are going to be more ignored than Ace's once were. |

Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
There are a lot of threads started on this board where you wonder how the people can tie their shoes but to criticize a topic that continues to affect a lot of people on a much larger level than football is pretty bad.
Then to switch to focus of the thread to yourself when obviously no one cares what you think on this topic is even worse. Go hijack another thread, Insane. The best thing for you to do would be to stop commenting at all on this thread. |

Man, this clip is one of the three Sean Taylor clips I watch from time to time.. I absolutely love the hit on Reggie Brown, it shows how massive Taylor was..
Just because some of us still remember Taylor, doesn't mean we did not move on.. We are simply remembering him, there is nothing wrong with that.. I always have Sean Taylor wallpaper on my computer or phone through out every NFL season since he passed away (my current wallpaper is the hit on Reggie Brown on my Pre) |

What struck me watching Taylor clips recently is that almost every one of his big highlight hits was led by a shoulder or forearm BELOW the helmet, which would have been clean by today's highly scrutinized standards. Some guys have to lead with the helmet to be intimidating. Getting hit by #21 scared the hell out of opposing WRs, because it was akin to getting hit by a car - where the entire body gets blown back. The Crayton and Brown hits are two prime examples of many such hits that Taylor had. I still imagine - how good would he be today at 27, just coming into his prime years? |
Re: Sean Taylor Memorial week 11/27
He was an amazing player I got a lot of Joy watching him play football. Always forget how freakishly big he was. I remember him being fast but not that big! Great player and died protecting his house and his family, cant really go out more honorably than that!
