Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

NFL News & Rumors » Shanahan on hot seat in Washington?

If they fire Shanny after just one season in Washington then i'll be leaving after 15 years of loyalty and wont come back till Snyder is gone.

It's obvious Snyder is just running a reality show program, and not a football organization.. Anything to sell tickets.

HEY SNYDER... DID YOU EVER THINK MAYBE WINNING WILL SELL TICKETS!?

Give me a break:pffff:

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

Florio likes to stir the pot, but it must be difficult for Snyder not to have a little doubt with Shanahan.

That said, since Zorn got 2 years, Shanahan probably would as well, if only to avoid the bad publicity.

Dirtbag59 12-13-2010 02:30 AM

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

There is a better chance of me winning at least 5 figures in the lottery then there is of Shanahan getting fired. This is Snyder's guy. The only coach Snyder has ever loved more than Shanahan is Gibbs.

Flat out irresponsible reporting with the reporters falling back on their favorite "well Snyder has a history of making big splashes" party line. Talk to me again in two or three years, but you'd have to be nuts to think that Shanahan would be fired after one year.

Here's a better more objective article

If he would be fired I honestly would jump ship for good.

He'd sell the team before he fires Shanahan in the first year. No way this happens.

Move along.

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

As crazy as it sounds I wouldn't be shocked...he fired Shotty after he finished 8-3 with Tony Banks at QB. This organization is a disaster/joke.

I almost hope Snyder does it just so I can jump ship with a good conscience.

Heard this alot on the radio yesterday. The magic number is apparantly 5 and 11. If the skins lose out, the radio was saying that an anonymous source said Shanahan would be fired...

I dont believe it myself but with Snyder you never know.

I just heard on the Junkies that Florio said the article was just "his speculation"

nothing from a source

Not going to happen, if it does instead of jumping ship I will just talk myself into it in the offseason. I swear to god being a skins fan has got to be what it is like to be a battered partner.

I just have 0 energy today now, such a bad way to lose

Some people believe we should have hired Gruden in the first place...but no, this isn't happening

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

I would have preferred Gruden or even Haslett as HC instead of DC (He probably would've kept the 4-3). But now? No way will there be another overhaul in the offseason. Maybe some assistants and scouts will change but no coordinators, MS or Bruce Allen will be let go.

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

Pure speculation on Florio's part. Much ado about nothing. With all the rebuilding that is necessary, Shanny will be here at least 3-4 years. It may take that long to turn the corner and start winning consistently, and only if the FO performs much better than the Snyder/Cerrato team that left the team in shambles.

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

i must admit i dont like shannahan so far, i dont like how he has handled many thing this year, but i highly doubt firing him would be good for this team after just 1 year. we need players to be able to learn a scheme on offense, to be able to get players to fit our scheme, etc., it takes time to do that.

BleedBurgundy 12-13-2010 09:26 AM

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

Shanahan put the team in position to win yesterday. He doesn't kick field goals or perform snaps. Dude has D+ level talent at 50% of skill positions. Just wtf is he supposed to do?

For the people who say they would jump ship save yourself the trouble and jump ship now because next year you will just find another reasin to say that again. Bye.

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

This would be it for me too. I have 25 jerseys and everything under the sun redskins merchandising and I would stop putting money into the organization for everything. Never to go to another game and never buy so much as another hat. I'd jump ship and swim to detroit if by sewer if need be until SNYDER sold the team and that would kill me b/c my family has had season tix for 40+ years and my grandparents (long passed on) would have to understand.

But no seriously- breaking point I would leave for the Ravens.
I think the story is BS but Ive always said when this team operates as a team 1st and not a business we see production on the field.

skinsguy 12-13-2010 12:18 PM

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

This team might be a laughing stock of the league, but I will be darned if I ever become a fair weather fan. I have stuck with this team through thick and thin and that isn't ever going to change. I may not invest the money into going to games each year (because I don't live close enough to do so nor do I have the money for it,) but I do invest my time on Sundays, Monday nights, and the occasional Thursday nights to watch the Redskins play. I even try to catch every preseason game being played.

I suppose some of you guys who were born in the "losing" era could find it easier to jump ship.....because there hasn't really been much to get excited about in the last 18+ years. But, for those of us who were privileged enough to watch the glory years as they were played out in the 80's and early 90's, we know and remember how it is to feel that pride for the Washington Redskins. That's why we devote all of this time arguing about coaching changes and player acquisitions. That's why we spend time on these discussion boards when we have reports that need to be in by 3 PM (yeah, I'm looking at you Skinsguy!) That pride in our team won't change for most of us. Sure, there will be a few fair weather fans that were probably not BIG fans of the team to begin with. Maybe just fans because they happen to live in "Redskins country". But, most of the rest of us will continue to support this team through all the mess that's going on, because we know at some point, somewhere, this franchise will figure things out. It might take Snyder selling the team, might take yet another coach to come in, or it might just take this current coaching staff time to right the ship.

But, most of us here believe that this team will experience those winning years again, but we just have to keep going through what we're going through now until we get to where it is that this team needs to be at. It truly is a process, and sometimes that process is not so clear to see as it translates to on field play, but I believe you do have to keep pressing on.

This team has to reverse the past decade of blunders, band-aid fixes, aging players, bad draft choices and free agency choices, and bad management from the top down. That doesn't happen within a year. May not happen within two or three years, but I believe it will happen. It really all comes down to Daniel Snyder having enough faith in Allen/Shanahan's process to rebuild the team.

I'll never understand the mindset of someone who switches teams. If you ask me they aren't a real fan to begin with. And the threats of switching are even more hilarious. Just switch, who cares.

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

Seriously fellas stop faking. If you're done with the team then be done. Stop with the if this and if that because newsflash,...it will not be all sunshine and flowers. Do you think Patriots fans were this happy years ago ? How about Colts fans ? They had their time and now it's ours.

Don't bullshit around about this, there are 31 other teams in the league so pick one that will win and do everything that you, ESPN and the NFL Network will praise at all times. Either piss or get off the damn pot.

Hail to the muhfuggin Redskins !

BleedBurgundy 12-13-2010 12:48 PM

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

I mean seriously, how much worse can it get? The Skins are laughing stocks, clearly the worst team in the NFC East with little hope of being more than that next year. The roster is lacking starter quality talent in most positions and the team has traded away two key draft picks this year for marginal (at best) players, one of which is a past his prime quarterback who was way overrated from the beginning. There's not much hope for a big improvement next year.

The only bright side is that it's actually better now than a year ago. Last year they were 4-12 and running the "swinging gate" with a hopelessly outmatched assistant turned Head Coach and a coked up GM. If you didn't leave then, why now? You should be most proud to be a fan today, because that means you can enjoy it that much more when this team finally gets its collective shit together. Sure, it'll be 2043, but at least you can tell your grandchildren that you stuck with them through Spurrier, Gibbs 2.0, Zorn (seriously, f'ing zorn) and Shanahan. Your QBs have been Wuerffel, Ramsey, Brunell, Campbell and McNabb. A portion of your fanbase was actually excited about Colt Brennan.

That's called street cred folks. And it's worth its weight in wins.

This article is simply BS. Snyder recently told the Jason Reid that he believes what BA and MS are doing and to be patient.

GhettoDogAllStars 12-13-2010 12:56 PM

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

I will never understand how anyone can switch teams. When I watch Redskins I am emotionally invested. That's not a conscious decision -- it can't be. I didn't choose to be a Redskins fan, that's just how I was raised. I could never choose to be a fan of a team and force myself to have emotional ties to them - it doesn't work like that.

Snyder said the same thing about Zorn and he said that they would be going through "growing pains". Snyder is a liar plain and simple and you can't beleive anything that comes out of his mouth.

hooskins 12-13-2010 01:05 PM

Re: Well.. If this is true. Ill find another team.

He didnt say the same thing and change his mind the week later.

Snyder also practically asked Zorn to resign. Those are two different scenarios. Even if Shanny gets fired, they are far from it.

These are about the only scenarios I can understand. Part of me does get how a fanbase could feel so burned by a team that they just lose interest, but I would think that as soon as that team starts winning, they would always come back.

As a Skins fan, Sundays have largely sucked the past 15 years. While I recognize it's just a game, I can't deny that I have felt bummed and frustrated for hours after the final whistle. But it would feel completely false to just "pick another team." The fun is in being emotionally invested. I mean, do you just start rooting for the Patriots because they usually win? Seems kind of pathetic imo.

im not too worried about current skins fans leaving. i personally hate the majority of our fan base and see them (maybe mistakenly) as a bunch of financially secure, entitled whiny bitches exemplified by Dan Snyder.

if this team ever starts winning on a consistent basis, man i think i will be a quiet skins fan b/c this fan base is going to become the most obnoxious, crap talking, self-gratifying fan base ever. its going to be like cowboy fans x 5.

atleast now, all the egos of our well to do corporate fan base are held in check b/c of the product on the field. but man, just one 5-7 game win streak and watch out . . . this fan base is going to turn into a bunch of richards real soon.

what i am worried about is losing the next generation of skins fans.

as an skins and Os fan, i cant picture being a fan of a consistently successful team. i tell my lady not to worry, that one day when the skins or Os are back on top we will feel a joy that other bandwagon fans wont be able to elicit b/c they didnt live and die with the bad times.

i always envision watching the Os or skins win it all in a crowded bar, everyone is going bananas but im just sitting there smiling. im not the guy running or climbing up telephone polls waving a flag or crying, but im just sitting there smiling a deep sense of content wondering where all these so-called die hards came from.

idk, sports fan psychology is weird to me. i embrace the suck, mayeb living in this area it is a nature more than nuture thing.

Oh believe me they've already left. I've grown up in 3 different areas all within 25 miles of D.C. and most of my friends/kids that I went to school with root for other teams. I remember wearing my Arrington jersey in high school after Sundays in which the Redskins won a game and most kids were lookin at me like, rooting for the Redskins? what? is he crazy? I actually know more kids that root for the Cowboys (not because they like the Cowboys, because they hate the Redskins) Giants, and Eagles than I do that root for the Redskins. Mostly because when my generation was growing up, the Redskins have been a consistently bad team, meanwhile the Eagles have been hot shit for a decade now and other kids that picked the Cowboys hate us. But make no mistake, the majority of the Skins fan base is the older crowd that witnessed 3 SB wins.
But make no mistake, the majority of the Skins fan base is the older crowd that witnessed 3 SB wins.
lol, yeah i fall into that crowd too. i used to be a dolphins fan when i was young (5-6) b/c my step dad's mother lived down in Fl and we would go down there, i liked the colors and dolphins. i then actually liked the broncos too b/c as a lil kid i watched elway do one of his last minute drives. i was alil kid, my real dad had died when i was about 3 so i never had a father figure instill the redskins in me even though i grew up in frederick then kensington.

then the skins made it to the superbowl, i was actually a broncos fan right before the SB kickoff. but watching the game with my brothers and step dad, i became a skins fan. then the 2nd quarter happened. ive been a skins fan ever since.

but it took a skins superbowl to give me an actual opportunity to watch a football game with my step dad (who isnt a big football guy, big golf and hockey).i dont know whether it was how well the skins did or the fact that for the first time i was watching my step dad root for a football team that did it. if not for the superbowl i dont know if i would be a skins fan b/c i dont think we would have watched a game together without the skins making it to a superbowl.

by the time the bills SB rolled around, i was die hard, allegiance chosen and sworn to.

i always envision fan bases being built by fathers like poster artmonk (forget the whole poster name) who has his lil son bleeding the BnG since birth. this past weekend my brothers wife said she was going to switch teams (jokingly), my 4 year old neice got real mad and said she cant and went on about the skins. it was awesome. but, idk, maybe thats just my disney vision of things i didnt have but hope to one day have the opportunity to do. my older brother is doing it right, artmonk is doing it right, one day soon ill get my chance and i wont need a freakin skins SB appearance to have any opportunity to sit down with my kids on any given sunday spending time with them and the redskins.

I was one of the ones who wanted Gruden over Shanny, but that ship has sailed. Shanny is the coach now and this is a rediculous rumor. What has happened to change Snyders opinion of Shannahan in 13 games? He can't make chicken salad out of chicken sh*t. He needs time...at least 3 years.
