Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
It is PFT...so take it for what it's worth. But, others at NFL Network are making the analysis or different assessments.
The Washington Redskins’ decision this week to bench Donovan McNabb in favor of Rex Grossman has a lot of people asking, What is Mike Shanahan thinking? Perhaps he’s thinking about drafting a quarterback in 2011 — and thinking that losing the final three games gives him a better chance of acquiring the quarterback he wants. That was the subject of a discussion this morning on NFL Network, focusing on whether Shanahan is throwing the rest of the season so he can get a high draft pick next year. “They’re really thinking about drafting a quarterback,” NFL Network reporter Michael Lombardi said. “The move to Rex Grossman, I’ve been told reliably by people in the Washington organization, has nothing to do with him being the quarterback of the future. It’s about them being in position next year to draft a quarterback.” NFL Network analyst Marshall Faulk also suggested that the Redskins, who are currently 5-8, would rather finish 5-11 than 8-8. “Those five wins? That’s all they want,” Faulk said. “Five wins and 11 losses, that might put you in the Top 5. . . . If they can get in the Top 5, there’s a lot of good college quarterbacks coming out this year. . . . Is that throwing games? I don’t know. But you understand that Donovan McNabb gives you the best chance to win, and you start Rex, and John Beck is second and Donovan is third? You’re sending a crazy message.” Warren Sapp was blunt in his assessment: “Right now they’re tanking the season looking for that Top 5 pick.” So who would Shanahan want to draft with that Top 5 pick? Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck is widely regarded as the best prospect in the 2011 NFL draft. But he’s likely to go first overall, and it’s impossible for the Redskins to get the first overall pick, so tanking games to get Luck wouldn’t be a very smart strategy. But there are other good quarterbacks Shanahan might covet, including Ryan Mallett of Arkansas and Cam Newton of Auburn. Would Shanahan want to lose the last three games of 2010 so he can draft one of those quarterbacks in 2011? A team intentionally losing games to get good draft picks would be a terrible thing for the integrity of the National Football League. That the league’s own network is openly discussing the possibility of a team doing just that shows what a bizarre year it’s been in Washington. |
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
We lose 27-24. Yes, the offense will be better today.

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
My prediction for the game... Sexy Rexy is going to play both ways, LEVEL Kitna, and throw for 3 TDs.

I think this has more to do with seeing if Rex can be a realistic starting option next year until a rookie is ready to go. Plus if Rex looks good, the Shanahans can further justify their decision to let McNabb go. |

I'm in that same boat too. I know it sends the wrong idea to the locker room that they're not trying to win, but 1/2 the locker room really should be gone next year anyways... I think whats best for this orginazation is to finish 5-11 and get a better draft pick.... ..That being said, I hope we destroy Dallas today. At least if we can sweep the Cowboys this season can be worth something. |
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
I really think that Rex has prbally impressed the coaches with the way he ran the offense this year. He looked good in preseason, and very comfortable.
We will see what happens today, and I hope for the best! I'm rooting for you Rex! |

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
I'm so tired of hearing about Mcnabb getting disrespected..
I think people forget that this is football! It's not wall street. Mcnabb has played poorly and Shanny didn't feel comfortable with the way Mcnabb has played this year going forward as a football team. What Redskin fan feel comfortable right now with how Mcnabb has played? We have nothing to lose. Let's see what the other two guys can do. They've earned it according to the coaches. I'm not going to hold Mcnabb's hand. He's a professional athlete in the NFL. He's played like total shit this year missing WR's and such. If Grossman comes out and shows it can be done against a division rival today. I'll be the first on the NFL/CBS/ and other forums saying STFU and let the man coach HIS team. Oh, and **** you Keyshawn. You're an idiot |
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
@bucket: no shit! Well said and I'm also tires of guys like meshawn And strahan talking shit on Shanny, last time I checked mike has 2 SBs to their 1 each and truth is Mcnabb has played like shit for most of the season, I like Donovan and wanted him here but the stats don't lie

agree 100%. McNabb's rating is 77, if Rex wasn't the backup most people wouldn't have as big a problem with it. |

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
I'm not even excited for this game like I had been in past games. I was even excited for the Bucs game. At this point I'm just watching cuz I'm a glutton for punishment and I wanna see WTF's gonna happen. Because at this rate we're either gonna pull out a Christmas miracle or we're gonna watch the team collapse like a neutron star.
Which will it be? That's what I'm watching for. |
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Redskins 24
Cowboys 16 Come on Rex.. Give me something to cheer about!! |

Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Here we go. Good luck Skins.
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Looks like the ST is the first to collapse.
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Typical, missed tackle leads to a first down.
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Swiss cheese defense already. Is the D even on the field?
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Nose tackle actually got some push, but Jones still got the first down after a couple of yards.
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Reeeeed!
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Atleast the D buckled down.. Good scheme by Haslett to get that sack.
Okay... It's Rexy time! LOL |
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Lol, Kitna screams 37 and Dough-boy still got the sack.
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Bryant looks 100x better at NT then Kemo. I don't know why we are not putting A.Bryant on the field even more.. Is it a cardio thing?
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Wow.. Our special teams were so strong in part 1 of the season. Now they are falling apart every week.
Defense only gave up 30 yards... Thanks to the kickoff return they get points. Now, we are starting inside the 20. This is why we lose football games |

Kemo wowed them because he did a better job of raping Rabach... |
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
Well, it starts with a completion.
|
Re: Week 15: Redskins vs Cowboys Gameday thread
