Redskins vs. Giants Week 17 kickoff moved back to 4:15 p.m. By Rick Maese The Redskins' season finale against the visiting New York Giants, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. next Sunday, has been moved back and will now kick off at 4:15 p.m. At 6-9, the Redskins are mathematically eliminated from playoff contention, but the Giants, who enter next week's game with 9-6 record, are still in the hunt. The Redskins returned to Washington on Sunday night and because of their 20-17 overtime win over the Jaguars, most players will be off Monday and will report to Redskins Park on Wednesday morning to begin preparations for the Giants. |
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Nice, now I can "work" on a Sunday and leave semi- early and make it for the game and not get the evil eyes no more.

Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Wonderful. Another nationally televised game ... we know how those usually go.

Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Would be a heck of a way to end the season ruining the Giants playoff hopes.
|
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
If the mean something to the Giants, we'll lose. If the Giants are already eliminated, we probably win.

I wholeheartedly disagree. In all likelihood, Coughlin gets an extension if the Giants make the playoffs, which is good for the skins. If the Giants miss the playoffs, Coughlin's fired, Cowher is likely hired, and the Giants will be a really really good football team for the next 10-15 years. For the skins long-term benefit, we need to hope Giants make the playoffs and keep coughlin around another few years. That way, the Giants will stay mediocre and Cowher can go to an AFC team. However, If the skins do win, then it makes me feel much more confident in our team. I realize its just a 1 game difference, a 7-9 team seems infinately better than a 6-10 team to me. We are what we are, but in my opinion, we're about as good of a 6-9 team as we could be now. In the 15 games we've played so far, we've either had the lead, or been within a score of taking the lead, in 13 of the 15 games we've played this year. If Shanahan can do that with the atrocious "talent" we have on our roster, imagine how well we would have played if he had inherited a halfway decent roster or there had been a decent free agent class this past offseason. if Shanahan can bring in a bunch of high-character, highly competitive, well-priced, slightly-above-average free agents (as opposed to one or vincent jackson/Larry Fitzgerald types, we could have a scary good team next year. |

Cowher is overrated.

Even if the Giants make the playoffs, short of another SB run, Coughlin's not getting extended. Ownership will let him go into a walk year and see what happens. If the Giants miss the playoffs there's about a 35% chance he gets fired. Even if he does get fired, Cowher won't be the coach there. He doesn't fit the mold or culture of what they are about. Finally, the Giants have owned us since Coughlin has been there (won like 9 of last 10) so it's not really a benefit if he's there. |
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Yeah I'm kind of baffled as to why it's a good thing for Coughlin to remain in New York? The last success we had against the Giants was back in Gibbs II.

To be honest, we have never had good success against the Giants. Even when we were one of the best teams, they usually beat us. |

We can play spoiler to the Jags and Giants...I love that. :)

Well, don't you have to win or tie this week and get some help? How can you say the Skins have nothing to do with it? |

It was about half and half. The Giants owned us pretty much during their Super Bowl years, but the Redskins beat them as well. |
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
I know our season is lost, but I really don't want the Skins to have that double digit in the loss column. Come on 7-9!!!! Hey 7-9 might win the NFC West! lol

You might want to do your home work next time......The SKINS have a lot to do with it! WE CAN RUIN YOUR POST SEASON DREAMS! The Giants are finally back home Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on December 28, 2010, 11:41 AM EST The Giants have landed. After their second road trip odyssey of the month, the team finally returned to New Jersey around 11:00 a.m. ET. The team was forced to stay in Wisconsin overnight (again) Monday before taking an early flight home Tuesday morning. They will begin preparing on what is essentially a short week for the Redskins. The Giants need a victory in Washington and a Packers loss to make the playoffs. The Jets, meanwhile, got home late Monday night after flying in to Newburgh, New York. They took buses from there, ensuring that the Jets got home before the Giants just like they made the playoffs before Big Blue. |

LOL...YES I KNOW ALL THE SCENARIOS....but I'm old school and I don't believe in backing into the playoffs, you either earn it or you don't .The Giants had not one but 2 win and your in games and played like crap in both ....they don't deserve to get in and if they do there is a chance Coughlin could stay and I believe that is the worst thing that can happen to the Giants.:soapbox: |

Don't give up yet, the Bears can beat GB again |
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Old school my balls. If they "back into" the playoffs and go on to win the Super Bowl would you say "naw man, I'm old school they really didn't make it in ?"
No, Don't refuse us this slice of happiness knowing that IF the Redskins find a way to beat the Giants that your fate has been sealed and The Skins did it. |

Ole please thats a bunch of Bullshit. It doesn't matter how you get there, if you get there your 0-0. Please save that BS for some G-Girls fan board. But hopefully we can make your wish come true and kick your ass in DC and then you won't have to worry about needing help from your fellow foes. |

Nope not giving up but the Giants need a change and when you have not one but end of the season collapses ...over and over ...yup it's the coaching do I want them to win yes but in the long run I believe it would be better for the Giants to move on,Coughlin is 64. |

If we're the ones that end the hopes the Skins have everything to do with it when it's do or die you get killed by the last sword swung, not the first scratch |
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
I really don't put much stock in that "backing in" take. You make the playoffs based on your overall record, if you're in, you deserve to be in and anything can happen from there.
Would be a heck of a way to end the season ruining the Giants playoff hopes.
Sorry Matty, I have to disagree. Win or lose, 2010 will be a losing season. The "great turnaround" offered up by the arrival of Bruce Allen, Mike Shanahan, Donovan McNabb - - and the departure of "Vinnie The C" - - turned out to be fools' gold. If the Redskins had a playoff slot locked up and could wipe the Giants off the playoff map with a win this weekend, that would be a "heck of a way to end the season". As to this game and its implications:
Meh!
|
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Man some of you really are grumps. Would you rather end the season getting hammered 42-10 to go 6-10 or knock a hated division rival out of the playoffs??
Of course the season as a whole is a fail, but there would still be some satisfaction to be gained from ending the season on a somewhat positive note by ruining the Giants season and finishing with a 3 game improvement over last year. |

That preference exists EVERY weekend - - not just this weekend. My preference for a win over "getting hammered 42-10" is not enhanced even a little bit by the knowledge that a win will knock the Giants out of the playoffs. The fact is that 12 teams will be in the playoffs and the Redskins will not be one of them. So, to me, the identity of those 12 teams is not something that warrents a ton of emotional investment. |
Re: Giants @ Redskins Time Moved to 4:15
Like I said... grump.
