Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
Jason Campbell Says He Was The 'Scapegoat' For The Redskins' Problems - Half Smokes - SB Nation DC
This might be water under the bridge, but i thought it was worth posting. I didnt' take Jason for this kind of guy. Now he is making it sound like the team put all of the blame solely on JC, which as best I can tell, never happened. We blamed Jason for his poor play, but I dont think anybody blamed the performance of the entire team on him. The best part is where he says the organization was out to get him. Wow. What will he say when the Raiders get rid of him? Why can't he man up and just admit, at least to himself, that he is not an NFL starter, and he should just be thankful for the opportunity to play?? You already know Davis is trying to get Vince Young...what will Campbell say then?? |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
JC is just mad because he's about to lose his job again
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
I'm just thankful that he didn't get all Emmit Smith & say he was an "escapegoat."
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
I'm just kind of shocked because I thought Jason was better than this. He didn't seem like the kind of person who would try and kick dirt on his old team. I just really didnt expect this from him.

A year in Oakland will eat your soul. |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
Jason Campbell = Most butterfingered Redskin quarterback ever!
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
You didn't take Campbell as a kind of person that answers questions during an interview?
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
Is he really saying anything all that shocking??
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
JC probably was made a scapegoat,but he had his chances here.I dont blame him for what he said.The skins obviously dont know how to handle qbs{Snyder era}
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
I wish Jason Campbell peace and happiness.

No & w/the sanchez & cutler talk, he's got his reasons. Though "out to get me" is just another way of saying "they thought I wasn't good enough." |

And he wasn't. |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
It's true. The front office treated him like shit.
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
There were and still is, a lot more problems around here than him.
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
i think in a lot of way's he WAS the scapegoat ..what's wrong with an honest statement ... he may not be a HOF'er but he wasn't exactly in the best situations and turned out ok, he didn't turn into Patrick Ramsey
|

+1 People love to point to the QB, (we saw it again this year with DM) while ignoring the bigger issue, the team around the QB. |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
So what is his excuse for his play in Oakland? Oh and his reasoning for being benched there? was he the scape goat there also?
Maybe he just needs to go to a team that won't use him as a scape goat, like Buffalo. Clearly they would respect him and his talent enough not to use him as the reason for their horrid play. But if he wants a championship ring or SB ring he might have to settle for the fact he's not as good as he thought and settle for being a back up in order to get it. |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
When is the QB not the scapegoat? It comes with the position.
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
I don't see anything wrong with his statements. He was the scapegoat. The team had a circus organization, decimated with injuries, had a poor receiving core, had no feature running back, and one of the worse offensive lines in the league, yet he was expected to take them to the playoffs. Unrealistic. I said it then and I'm saying it again, Campbell was not the problem. He needed a better supporting cast. Getting McNabb was a waste. Campbell would have done the same job and that third round draft pick could have been used on a position player that could help the team in the long run. Now the Skins have to rebuild at quarterback, all over again.

 I can't blame JC at all for being bitter with the Skins. I'm not sure what is accomplished by expressing his frustration to the press, though. |

Drafting Trent Williams was a positive first step, but the jury's still out on the Jamaal Brown acquisition, and hopefully Shanahan addresses the interior of the O-line this offseason.

Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
If you're not accurate you're not accurate.. if you can't progress in your reads well... it want entirely his fault but he's no Manning
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
Not really a big deal. I would think that any QB that gets let go would feel that way.
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
i wish the guy nothing but the best cause he's a stand up high character guy. i really like jason campbell. was he treated like shit? probably. but to be honest that's life as an nfl starting qb and if you've got thin skin then it's probably not the job for you. hell drew brees was basically run out of san diego and made the most of his new opportunity. campbell has never really never grabbed the bull by the horns here or in oakland. serviceable nfl starter. nothing more, nothing less.

He had a solid year. |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
If Snyder gave me a few million bucks he could treat me like shit every day.

Exactly. And there was a 2nd rounder in there as well. Terrible awful trade. |
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
The headline, of course, is misleading because Campbell didn't blast the Redskins.
What I thought he did do, in a very indirect way, was come off as very, very critical of Dan Snyder and the way Snyder personally treated him. But I don't think he said anything about the Redskins outside of 1) things didn't go well, and 2) the team subsequently got rid of him. |

Hue Jackson is the one that wanted Gradkowski starting. |

Campbell should admit that he was given the keys to the castle and took it for granted. This guy is quite a salesman when it comes to marketing himself. Thank God he is gone and I wish him well with his new team. Just wonder what his new coach will do with him after they go after yet another cast-off QB. Of course we can't say anything better because what we have here needs to be improved on. But, at least Grossman can read defenses better than Campbell or McNabb can and gets rid of the ball quicker than they ever will. |

JC got traded from one 3 ring circus to another 3 ring circus if not a worse 3 ring circus. There is no wiggle room here. He can complain all he wants but in the end he's still dealing with the same type of BS with Al Davis. |

Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
Difference is Al Davis wants him there.
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
Difference is Al Davis wants him there.
Yep. Davis always liked big arm QBs that can get the ball downfield. Campbell is definitely in a better situation there if he can hold onto the starting job. Oakland has a lot of talent, and actually went 6-0 in their division (yet missed the playoffs!!!)
|
Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
LOL, All our QB's are scapegoats. He should keep his mouth shut at this point.

Re: Cambell blasts redskins, says he was "scapegoat"
JC never got a fair chance IMO, He had a good year and still got traded

Actually, I'd have to give that to Rex, the king of sack-fumbles. |

I'm not sure about that. I remember the media and announcers saying Cable wanted BG to start. I could be wrong though... |

It was billed as Cable wanting Gradkowski vs. Davis wanting Campbell, but really Cable had no dog in the hunt (or whatever the saying is). Hue Jackson is the one who suggested the move to Gradkowski |
