Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
I gotta roll with Matthews on this one
|
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
Actually gotta roll number 1: Matthews, then Polamalu and D. Hall a distant 3rd
|
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
Sometimes awards like this are given in part on a past merit basis. I don't think Polamalu has ever won one right? Kinda reminds me of the 88 nba season I think, Magic got MVP, but everyone knew that Jordan was already the best. Magic got it after a great year, but also due to his past accomplishments.
I'm not saying TP didn't deserve it though, just saying his career to date has been exceptional & that might have something to do w/him getting it. |

Hall even at a distant 3rd? seriously? The only cb that I can think of that had a DPOY type season is Charles Tillman. Revis was great but missed some games & was slowed a bit in others by his injury. |

Your just saying Hall should be third to get a few here going, Right? |

I wonder if D Hall even cracked the Top 10 here. He surely would not have been on my ballot. |
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
Matthews should have won, Troy 2nd, Woodson and Reed tied 3rd.

Polamalu, Matthews, Harrison, Peppers, Urlacher, Reed, Ngata. No one else got any votes |

No votes for Tramon Williams? I'm surprised. Also surprised Revis didn't get any votes. I don't think either of those guys should have won, but I would have expected them to get a vote or two... |
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
Ked Golston was robbed.

Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
I think they are basically both just as deserving. Probably would have gone with Mathews just because without him GBs defense would have been slightly above average and Pitt still would have had a very good defense. Either way I am surprised Willfork didnt get any votes at all. year in year out he is one of the top two Defensive interior linemen. Reed only person I disagree with being on that list since he missed so many games.

Yeah he's about to go apeshit ! |
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
Awesome player, hes always all over the place, sideline to sideline, everywhere on the field and makes big plays. The only knock i had on him and Mathews is that they both missed some time with injury.
I was also hoping a little bit for James Harrison too since he played outstanding this year even againts the whole nfl crack down on hard hits. |
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
No way, Polamalu totally deserved it
|
Re: Polamalu is the DPOY
Tough call because they play different positions. Polamalu had 7 picks and a TD...stats similar to D. Hall. He also missed 2 games. Matthews had 14 sacks and was just as much of a force on the field, a guy that opponents have to gameplan around and try to avoid as much as possible. He missed a single game. Looking at stats, I'd give the edge to Clay Matthews because 14 sacks is far more impressive than 7 INTs, which did not even lead the league. Ed Reed had 8 INTs, why not consider him? Asante Samuel and Dexter McCourty had 7 each. Now Matthews did not lead the NFL in sacks either, he was third to Ware with 16. But, watching both players...Matthews just seems like more of a disruptive force and contributes more to his team than Polamalu, who also has some extra hype on his side.
Another player left out of the discussion so far is Ndamukong Suh. |

Woodson had a very down year...only 2 picks. He was a monster in 2009. He had 92 tackles so I don't think we can contribute all of the decline in numbers to him not being thrown at. |
