brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
details seem to just be coming out, but it sounds like bb and a friend got into an argument with another man (who is now in custody). apparently the argument escalated and bb and his friend were both stabbed. bb has been released from the hospital but his friend remains in the hospital. from all the reports it seems that bb's wounds are all superficial.

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
Man, I hope Banks will be okay soon.. Nightclubs appear to be the WORST place for NFL players to hang out at.. All NFL teams should add "not allowed to attend to nightclubs" term in contract forms to end all this ridiculous incidents.

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
Unfortunetly big sports athletes are always the center of attention, glad BB is ok his little ass is lucky

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
it's a sticky situation, because these are grown men and the have the right to do what they want on their own time, but in this day and age there are a whole lot of dangers for these athletes to be catious of including but not limited to underage girls, fame seekers, paternity seekers and just plain old haters. i do agree that the nfl needs to step in and do something but i think it should be more along the lines of educating these young players more on how to protect themselves. the majority of these players have never seen this much money in their life and might not realize that going to a club and paying for everyones drinks may attract the wrong attention to you.

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
OMG-That is unreal. Who would want to stab Banks? I was Banks' size/weight in middle school. Whats wrong with scrapping with fists?
Maybe this is why Portis had the stripper pole at his house- too avoid the certain elements that lead to disaster. Lets have BBanks run back a few KR/PR for a TD and lets reward him with the big money to build the club in his mansion. I wish him a speedy recovery. |

The problem is so many recreational activities are banned by pro team sports, that the only type of recreation they can do is go to clubs. I guess the NFL is ok with the athletes damaging their organs as long as it doesn't involve rock climbing, jet skiing, surfing, snow boarding etc |
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
Nothing good ever happens after midnight. I know these guys are grown men, but they should stay away from clubs.

No questions that it is very sticky situation.. However, incidents at nightclubs have happened frequently.. Thus, it would make sense to do something to prevent it? But again, like someone in this thread said that many sports don't allow their players to participate in activities that could cause injuries, which really limit players' choices of activities. I understand it would not be fair to limit players from activities, heck I would be totally pissed if my boss do that to me. But, it is part of being professional player, I believe. Professional players are role model for many people - they should do their best to be one. It is not like we would be banning players from participating in 'dangerous' activities forever, but only length of their career. |

His wounds were "superficial" and he was only at the hospital a few hours from what I read. |
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
It is not a problem being out late and being in night clubs or other type clubs (cough)!
The real skill players and people need to develop is turning the other cheek and walking away from a drunk idiot that is trying to start trouble. Do you really care what a drunk idiot has to say or thinks? Is it worth trying to change their mind about soemthing? Or do you just want to kick their ass? Which is an even bigger problem. Nothing to gain and too much to lose. As Mr Dan Snyder is teaching us the hard way, your street cred and ego are not worth going to jail, hospital or dieing for. |
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
I agree with whoever it was in here that said players should not be allowed in nightclubs per their contract agreement.
This, in my opinion is a no brainer. NFL Clubs should ban players from being in nightclubs. Nothing good ever happens there. Why can't people understand that? Its just another thing in the NFL that needs changed. Nightclubs represent the bad part of society, the criminal element and all that, that the NFL is trying to distance itself from. |

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
It's not the Night Clubs that present the problem, it's the lack of maturity on the part of many of these young men in not knowing how to avoid confrontation with others. Minor incidents escalate into major ones when the parties involved don't understand the importance of walking away.
Banks is just one season removed from the Rookie Symposium where players are drilled repeatedly about the pitfalls of social engagement, about how they should conduct themselves in situations like this. The problem is, some guys just never learn regardless of how much good advice they receive from those that have been there. |
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
Nothing good happens after midnight. If you can't find something to smash during the day, get a DVD and some paper towels.
I can't imagine why someone would have to pull a weapon on BB. Maybe his friend is huge or something. B#tch move IMO. |
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
He's lucky, could have been much worse. Damn whoever did must be tough picking on and stabbing someone the size of a traffic cone
|
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
First he gets stabbed then he gets cut...

Doing so could save countless millionaire athletes. In other news everyone needs to find this guy and beat the crap out of him. We only have so few quality players on this team. We don't need douchebag "wannabe gangstas" stabbing our star kick returner. |
Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
NFL players are HUGE targets when they go to clubs. Both for good and bad reasons. I remember the old Raiders center "Barrett Robins" use to hang out at a local sports bar where I live. He would just stand in the middle of the dance floor with 2 beers smiling from cheek to cheek. And once people caught wind of who he actually was, people would swarm him for autographs, 30+ year old guys, who would become infuriated whenever he turned down their autograph requests. He had something against signing autographs, but he would be more than happy to buy you a beer instead.
Eventhough he wasn't there to pick up on women like a lot of the young players are, however girls still swarmed the guy. And the funny thing was, he would dress in an old t shirt, old levi's, and looked like he was a plummer, not a multi-millionaire center. That didn't stop the girls from flocking, because they knew his money was long. A lot of guys would get mad, because the girls they wanted attention from would shower Barrett with the attention. But he was to big to for anyone to say something to. So he never had problems. However the potential and jealousy were definitely there. |

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
You don't get out much....do you?
Last time I checked we still live in the good ol USA. Limiting peoples rights is not the way to go.
Its got nothing to do with limiting people's rights. Back when Ben Roethlisberger had his 2006 motorcycle accident, Terry Bradshaw told Ben wisely to save that kind of stuff for when he retires. I realize that NFL clubs already limit what players are allowed to do, and the bottom line is going to nightclubs are dangerous and almost always leads to trouble. You cant tell me that an NFL player going to a nightclub is a good thing. Even if the player is innocent and just there for a good time, there are plenty of things that can and usually do go wrong for the player. It's just not a good thing. Let's make a compromise. NFL Players can still be allowed to go to clubs, but there should be a rule that if the player is involved in any kind of trouble at all, then the NFL Club should be able to investigate, and suspend or release the player in question if they find that they did something wrong. Too many of these guys are finding themselves in all kind of hairy situations and no trouble follows. Examples: Haynesworth(out getting drunk the night before practice, complete with photos and witness descriptions), Pac Man Jones, Vince Young....those guys i feel got off easy.... They all were repeated offenders before any discipline followed. Especially PacMan Jones. The NFL needs some kind of rule about nightclubs, somehow they can work it out to be fair... |

You guys realize how many pro athletes went out this weekend and didn't get stabbed? Many many many many many more than those who did

True, and I'm taking my comments back.. Although I feel like someone should step in and do something about this.. Every year, we always hear about something happening to players at nightclubs.. It is just ridiculous. |

The fight was between Banks friend and the stabber, Banks tried to break up with the bouncer and got cut. Banks friend got the worse, Banks is a good guy caught in a bad situation. It could have been a lot worse.

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
Man I have been to Park numerous times. Not really my scene but it isn't dangerous or anything. It is a pretty nice lounge/club.
I've been to many more seemingly "unsafe clubs" than Park in DC. It isn't a place where people go looking for trouble. Actually it's a nice establishment, most of the people there look like they are going to an interview. |

Re: brandon banks injured at dc nightclub
Guys, It all really simple to me. The guys are out late looking for tail. The clubs are where its at. You have a bunch of guys drinking too much and the Machos and the Egos kick in and somebody starts something and it escalates. It happens all the time unfortunatley.
