Where will McNabb land?
McNabb’s agents said trade or release coming after the draft | ProFootballTalk
Shanny and smith finally meet, looks like the skins chances of drafting a QB are even higher. So now the question remains where will Donovan play in 2011? (if there is a season) I think 2 teams that really should pursue him are Miami and AZ, if we can get a 4th for him I'd be happy. Any thoughts? |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
Miami, Minnesota, San Fran, or the Titans...4th would be best case scenario
|
Re: Where will McNabb land?
In response to the thread title, where ever the destination on his plane ticket says.

Re: Where will McNabb land?
One thing appears certain, he will be traded, where too could be the result of a best offer.

Hard to say, with that $10m bonus we might not be able to trade him at all. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
I would still love for him to stay and be the starter and help groom a young qb. For gods sake get rid of Grossman!!

Hard to say, with that $10m bonus we might not be able to trade him at all.
The bonus will only be an issue if he's on the opening day roster. If he's traded before then, he'll more likely than not be offered a new deal with whatever team he signs. |

Word is Kevin Kolb would like to play in AZ, maybe they'll make a run at him instead of McNabb |

Oh yeah, that was roster bonus. Good point. |

Considering the fact the Shanahans' have obviously soured on McNabb, convinced he's not adequate for their offense, I just don't envision him in a groom position. With McNabb it will be all or nothing. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
He'll land on his piano and break it, thereby giving him a career-ending injury. They all little lying bitches, those three...(MS, KS, Mcflabb)

Sorry to break this to you but the HTM (human turnover machine) will likely be our opening day starter regardless of who we draft. As for McNabb he's going to be in either Minny or Miami, depending on how quickly the CBA gets settled. If it's sooner then Miami, if later then it's Minny. |

Re: Where will McNabb land?
I'll be pretty annoyed if we cut him. That would mean a 2nd and a 4th round pick for a guy who got benched twice and won what? 3 or 4 games total? Fail.
We can't trade him until there's a new CBA, so he may be a Redskin well into the summer if a deal can't get done. |

Re: Where will McNabb land?
Allow me to recast the atmosphere here for a moment...
Which of these scenarios is more preferable for the Redskins? Scenario #1: McNabb agrees to pay back the ~$3M bonus he got last season (or 90% of it) and gets an immediate release before the CBA expires. Skins get some money back but get no picks or players for McNabb. The drama and the "distractions" are OVER. Scenario #2: The new CBA is not in force until mid June. There have been no OTAs or minicamps; Bruce Allen has 3 weeks to assemble the team, sign the draftees, figure out whatever the new cap rules are. Any offers he gets for McNabb are strictly "low-ball offers" (conditional 7th round pick). At that point, McNabb offers to pay them back the bonus money for an immediate release. Scenario #3: The new CBA is not in force until mid-June (or even later) and the Skins start training camp with McNabb, Grossman, Beck and "whatever rookie QB you happen to like most" on the roster. No meaningful offers for McNabb arrive and he is being a compliant player in camp. With no work for the rookie at OTAs or minicamp, there is no way he can start in 2011 (remember it takes a couple of years to grasp the intricacies of the Kyle Shanahan offense). So the Skins keep him around just in case Grossman gets hurt - - and then it is opening day. At that point, the Skins release McNabb to avoid having to pay him $10M+ as their back-up QB. It seems to me that the realistic choices are "release McNabb" or "trade McNabb". However, to accomplish the second you have to have another team willing to give the Skins something that they think is "fair value" and with other teams scrambling to put their squads together, his "fair value" is likely to go down -not up - if they hold on to him until the season is about to start. Personally, I would go with Scenario #1... |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
I believe McNabb will land in Minnesota. My second guess would be Miami. I don't believe he'll land in Arizona since Fitzgerald threw him under the bus when he was asked if there's any pontenial free-agent QB's he'd like to play with, and he only mentioned Bulger and Kobb.

Bad trade, a 2nd and a 4th and no long term plans. I've got faith in this new regime but this was not a good move. Our FO should have known enough about DM before the trade to build our team around him. If he wasn't good enough, they should have known and not made the trade. It was a "Vinny-eske" trade. |

Also, that would involve the Redskins totally tucking their tail and saying the ~$3M bonus repayment is all Allen/Shanny need to concede a complete and utter embarrassment of a defeat in the trade. They'd try to put it in the rearview and move forward, but getting absolutely nothing in return for a player in whom they invested so much.... That's a big organizational meltdown right there. And... wait for it... we still have Haynesworth to deal with. |

I know he's had a lot of challenges to overcome, but the McNabb/Haynesworth dramas were not a good way to start his era in Washington. Whatever he does, I hope it starts by finding ways to git rid of these two players. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
minnesota's my guess
There needs to be a trade before the draft to whichever team is interested. The Skins' options will be diminished once the teams now have traded for other backups around the league and/or drafted a QB who may have been the best player available on thier board. It could prove to be good insurance but, we're still talking about last years' McNabb, a year older... |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
Hmm...how much of Minny's interest in Mcdrabb was due to Child Dress chaser wanting him?
|
No one is trading for Mcnabb and getting stuck with his 8 million dollar roster bonus for next year or whatever the number is. Even in a bidding war in free agency they can get him for much less and not have to give up any picks. Even the contracts we give players that are meant to give us a "way out" end up biting us in the ass.

That must have sounded really funny in your head. |
On another note, looks like Portis will be released today or tomorrow. I would have started a thread but I'm new to this. Definitely time to let the guy go but Portis was a freaking work horse for the skins and busted his tail during the franchises darkest years. Guys a Redskin to the bone. If he had Riggins O-line or Owner, he prob would be our leading all time rusher. Good luck CP.

LOL. Yeah if we could ressurect any of our HOF OL into todays roster and be given the team building approach JKCook took- I'm sure Portis would have earned his paycheck and been buried in Lombardi's and the team wouldn't be the pinata for media punishment it is..... matter of fact wake up !!! (clap-clap) it is 2011 and Sndyer is our owner, we don't have hogs we have d'bags actually they arent the same d'bag group- we have Help Wanted signs atop of both sides of the ball. But the same rhetorical talk can be applied to what if the 49ers had Joe Montana, jerry Rice, and ronnie lot but who has time to waste with those questions. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
Just saw this on Tweeter...
"Grant Paulsen @AdamSchefter was just on @ESPN. Says #Redskins won't be cutting Haynesworth. Will hold on to him if they dont get a decent ofer. #badidea" If this is true, I don't get why Shanahan insists on keeping this circus alive. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
Shanahan will likely keep Haynesworth just so he can keep him on the bench and make life miserable for him....

Glad to see he is putting this much effort into this. If Shanahan loves the media circus, he might as well have kept Campbell. |
