Cerrato on Zorn
I hate to rehash this topic but VC is on 106.7 FM in DC right now and he's just throwing Zorn repeatedly under the bus, and backing up over him. Says he did his radio show bc Zorn was bad with the media; says Zorn was stubborn and wouldnt listen to others' suggestions.
Yeah I think we've all heard and aware about Zorn's stubborness, but what business does Cerrato have blasting Zorn? That hire was 100% on Cerrato. |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Yeah VC did more damage here than Zorn could have if he was trying to! IMO
|
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
When your owner is willing to outspend everyone in the entire league, it's a huge indictment of your capability as a GM if you can't at least make the playoffs semi-consistently.
Top 40% of teams in the league make the playoffs, and you can't even get there with all the money in the world? Even Brian Cashman has a better track record than that. Go away, Vinny. |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Well at least he had the balls to go on 106.7, I could give two poops for Vinny or Zorn. They are both gone, so they aren't a part of what I love. **** the both of them, and I mean that in the most respectful way that I can.

Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Vinny hired Zorn. Zorn's a nice guy, but that hire was one of the worst hires possible. Vinnie couldn't hire anyone else, b/c anyone else didn't want to work w/ Vinny. Yes, go away Vinnie, we'd rather not hear your name ever again.
|
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Does Vinny ever own up to any of his mistakes??
|
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
I've never once known him to
|
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Vinny is a moron.
If he told me titties were nice I wouldn't believe him. |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Eff Vinny. That is such a b*tch move too, over a year later to be still whinning like a ho when given a chance. Obviously Vinny has no Tigerblood and is not into winning

SS- I didn't hear the bit on the radio, but did the host of the show take him to task on the fact that HE hired Zorn? I mean, doesn't Vinny realize that in mocking/talking down about Zorn he's actually crapping on his ability to do his job? |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Zorn was the gun, Vinny was the shooter.
|
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Why do people still talk to Vinny? Seriously...

Not that I heard. I know I'm not exactly practicing what I'm about to preach here by starting a thread on Vinny but can't Vinny just let it go already? |

Zorn was a desperation hire. Several candidates who were interviewed by the Redskins, and felt to be a "Sure fire" head-coach, were not hired because the prospective coaches had big disagreements on philosophy, and roster/staff. One such prospect, former NYG Head Coach Jim Fassel, quite plainly said after his interviews fell through, that he intended to change/reshape the roster, specifically at QB, as he felt that Campbell was not an NFL starter. He also wanted players to earn spots through training camp, something that has been long forgotten at Redskins park, as the contracts dictate who starts. Gregg Williams was another guy who said similar things. The feeling these guys gave us was that the Skins Front Office wanted a coach who would just coach what was given to him. In other words, his roster, coaching staff, and other stuff was already assigned. And for obvious reasons no competent Head Coach would agree to that. So Zorn, who was originally supposed to be an OC, was hired as HC after their other choices fell through. There were numerous articles stating the above, people can look them up at will. And Jim Fassell was the most outspoken of how asinine the interviews were, where he basically kept telling them that he wanted to make changes to the roster and assemble his own staff..... |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
This is just sad. I'd like to see Zorn get hired elsewhere. I don't think he'd turn out to be a multi-super bowl champ or anything, just a little bit more successful. I don't think Cerrato could have been in a better situation and he messed it up royally.
|
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Maybe Mr. Smithers is coming to the realization that his future in the NFL is actually over?
When you have incompetent mishandling of the Washington Redskins for an unusually extended term of chaos and underachieving under the experience section of your resume who in their right mind is going to hire you? |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
I honestly hate that man. Fans throw words like that around when it comes to sports and they really don't mean it but i really believe I hate him. He destroyed 25% of my Redskins life and now doesn't even have the decency to go away quietly.

You know what's worse than this acting in this movie? Vinny's acting during his time here as the Redskins GM. He failed both roles miserably. |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
I think that Vinny made the mistake by not hiring G. Williams from the start. He hung himself by picking Zorn.

G. Williams would have been a horrible hire as well. What about his time in Buffalo makes you think he would have been a good head coach? Some guys are great coordinators, but suck at being head coaches. Here, I'll name a few. Don Capers Wade Phillips Norv Turner Greg Williams Charlie Wiess Dick Jauron I'm sure I can come up with a few more given more time. |

All things equal with a supportive front office structure in place, I'd hire Williams over Zorn as HC anyday. Wouldn't you? |

Agreed, I think the reason he didn't hire GW is GW wouldn't put up w/ any of his crap. I'm guessing. |

Just take a look at Bill Belichick. Compiled a 36-44 record from '91 -'95 as the Cleveland head coach and look what he did in New England. But as far as Vinny goes, the best thing he could have done for the Redskins was to hire Zorn as head coach, because that move ultimately led to the demise of Vinny Cerrato as Redskins' General Manager and that's a good thing. |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
Bring back Vinny Cerrato, the greatest GM in Skins history!

Im not taking up for Vinnie,I just think Snyders to blame also |
Re: Cerrato on Zorn
I also want to add, that the biggest mistake from the Redskins (second to hiring Vinny) was hiring a offensive and defensive coordinator BEFORE a head coach. No coach in their right mind would ever step foot into a situation like that. They are the ones that hire the offensive/defensive coordinators and to have them already picked?...lol
Who did they expect would want the job? It's exactly why their only resort was Zorn. The ****ing idiots Vinny and Danny. They remind me so much of Dumb and Dumber. They belong together. |

I think Danny thought that they could win w/the roster they had, and basically told Vinny that he would have a lot of authority but that they had to keep Blatch, etc. At 6-2 in 2008, they both were probably thinking they had a good plan. |

As for Vinny, he should have stayed packing when Schottenheimer origionally sent him. |

Well, and I think I've said this before, when Gibbs retired Snyder decided to give VC total control (and as I had heard it, two years). And while there others Fassel) Snyder would have preferred he decided to do what everyone wanted him to do and cede the decision making. So yeah he's ultimately to blame for ceding control to VC. And I guess ultimately his biggest fault in all of this was inaction |

VC was a ****ing joke.. DS is still a ****ing joke. This organization is a joke in today's NFL
