"The Bengals immediately turned their attention to Vincent's former teammate in Philly, veteran cornerback Bobby Taylor, but seemed to be making little headway in attempting to fill its need at the position. In fact, league sources indicated that Taylor is suddenly being wooed by the Washington Redskins, who were scrambling Monday to create cap room." How will they clear room for him??? If they do, I think it will be close to a miracle!..lol |
If true about possible signing B. Taylor, there would have to be some cuts. Larry Moore, Trung Canidate, maybe J. Trotter.
|
bye bye trung canidate, maybe bye bye another big name.how much do they have left after NOT signing butler away from the rams?
|
Rumor has it they have $3M left under the cap, because of not being able to sign Rams CB. However draft picks will require some cap space as well.

How will they clear room for him??? If they do, I think it will be close to a miracle!..lol
By cutting Larry Moore (now expendable since the signing of Cory Raymer and the re-signing of Lennie Friedman), and possibly Trung Canidate and Byron Chamberlain, the Skins could clear nearly $3 million on this year's cap. I'm sure the Skins could figure out a way to tweak Taylor's contract numbers so that they could fit him in. Of course, they could free up a ton of money if Chris Samuels would go ahead and agree to restructure his ridiculous contract numbers... |
Hrm, we still have to have some room to sign our one pick.
|
Re: Samules
Earlier rumors were that the new contract for Portis was a friendly gesture by the Skins to entice Portis and Samuels agent (both have same agent) to renegotiate Samuels contract. Because the Skins have no leverage to get Samuels to renegotiate. |

I think we are back to having 2 picks since the deal didn't go through for Butler. |
Yeah, redskin. I just expect us to still give up that 5th somewhere.
|
I guess if we did sign Taylor, I guess the secondary would be pretty good huh?
|
Our saftey's are still pretty weak. Drafting Sean Taylor would help.
|
i think that samuels is gone unless he restructures anyway.i call it as i see it,he has played like complete $hit the last two years.
|
Joe Bugel loves Samuels too much to let him go and if he is stubborn about it, there is no way Gibbs will let him go. Besides, I don't see us getting rid of a very good LT (those are almost as hard to come by as CBs).
I hate this move for the following reasons: 1. What about building our dline? 2. Taylor is a very good CB. True, but Taylor is getting long in the tooth and he is going to want more money than he is worth. Our secondary is in decent shape. Bauman is a solid zone coverage nickelback (he seems to have a pretty good nose for the ball) and though Springs and Smoot would make a good duo. 3. What about our dline? 4. Springs has a history of injuries and what if he goes down? True, but there is this thing called the salary cap and it doesn't like moves such as this. The fact is that Smoot's contract expires next season, we paid Springs a starter's salary with a starter's bonus, and you simply cannot afford to pay three corners starting salaries. We've already got Springs, we need to re-sign Smoot, and so I don't understand the desire to acquire Taylor. 5. What about our dline? 6. Well since we're already headed to cap hell, why not pile sh-t on top of sh-t by signing Taylor, thereby increasing our chances of winning the big one? That's about the only somewhat reasonable logic I can think of for this potential signing. |
God this pick would be so typical of Snyder.
|
trying to clear room for bobby taylor is a huge mistake. he is old and will cost way to much. why not go after a mid-level corner instead and draft the real taylor we need. we have two good corners and an alright nickleback so why spend all this money on another corner with this high of a paycheck and us the money to help our d-line out
|
How much is he asking? He's good but I hope they don't overpay again.

Why do you assume it's Snyder behind this?? |

skinsfanthru&thru:
You are correct. Ramsey and Samuels have the same agent (Sexton) and Portis' agent is Drew Rosenhaus who represents the majority of the U of Miami guys. Regarding Bobby Taylor: He was the #2 man in Philly's backfield; Vincent was the #1 guy. Taylor can be spectacular and he can be awful - and sometimes he does that in the same game! He can't start ahead of Springs or Smoot but would be a solid nickel back so that the Skins could play man coverage against three WRs. If your nickel back is Bauman or Jimoh, you are pretty much committed to playing zone against three WRs - or you are taking a big chance of getting toasted. |
I have read numerous times how Williams likes to use formations with as many as 5-6 DB's so this move makes sense. I do not think Snyder is behind it just because he's a "name", he's probably the best CB left in free agency right now. As long as they don't overpay too much, it's alright with me.

CMAN-you have an eye out for all of us do'nt you?

"Bauman is a solid zone coverage nickelback (he seems to have a pretty good nose for the ball)"
I saw R. Bauman get burned plenty THROUGHOUT the season. He sucks |
Big 63, I love those Zeppelin quotes, man. I'm a huge Led Zeppelin fan myself. On the old Warpath, we had a thread going in the "Parking Lot" forum about the top 5 albums you would want to have with you if you got stuck on a deserted island. My top 5 were Zeppelin's first 5 albums. I reckon yours would have been the same?
Sorry to go off-topic. I just had to show my appreciation for a fellow Skins/Zeppelin fan. "This is the mystery of the quotient: upon us all a little rain must fall" |
