Would Brett actually come back again?
....is it April 1st already? |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
I am actually surprised we haven't heard that the Redskins would be interested in signing him.
In Philly, he wouldn't have to play everyday, he may have a stretch of 2-3 games ,when Vick undoubtebly would get hurt, to play and keep the team afloat. Doesn't seem like a horrible move on their part. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
The connection is there between Favre and Andy Reid.
I do think that Brett would be completley comfortable with a backup role in the NFL at this point. If nothing else, it is a way to extend his career for a few more seasons if thats what he wishes. But i think Philly is a difficult team because of the rabid fanbase. Say for example Vick gets hurt, Favre comes in and plays, and even if he plays great or just does enough to win, the fans rally behind him and now they have a QB controversy like last year. OR, Vick starts playing bad, and the unhappy fanbase starts chanting "We Want Brett" or something like that. Remember in 2006, that backup Jeff Garcia played so well that fans wanted him to start in 2007 over Donovan McNabb. I think the eagles made a mistake by not re-signing Garcia that year, but it was largely due to McNabb's ego and hurt feelings. Bottom line is i think he could be a distraction on any team if their QB starts struggling and they have the legendary gunslinger to turn to... |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
I actually don't buy that he would have any interest in being a backup.

I'll 2nd that. After twenty years of being the man, I don't think his ego would allow him to ride the bench. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
So here's the Q..
Would u rather have favre or beck? |
So here's the Q..

Questionable if they had it to begin with. So... doubtful. |

Right after his first tweet that says he's contemplating coming back. As soon as there is contemplation with him, he will eventually succumb.... |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
It doesn't really fit with the Eagles' philosophy. They tend to move players on out of there at 30, so why bring someone (even Favre) in at 40.

Haha. You're on the money enough that I'll let this one slide. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
Favre's team this year will be the Oak Grove High School Warriors. You can find him on the sidelines.

/Philidelphia Eagles for 2 games and 1 game in the playoffs after Mike Vick separates his shoulder and is out for the remainder of the end of the regular season and the playoffs. FYI, Eagles go 1-1 in those regular season games and loses in the first round of the playoffs. You guessed it, Favre continues his legacy by retiring for the next (not last) time after a late interception in that playoff game that seals it for the opponent, again. NostraDitka has spoken! |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
So excited. Maybe we can convince Carlos to come back.

By the time Kolb could play again MV was on fire and most fans didn't even remember who Knolb was. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
I actually don't buy that he would have any interest in being a backup.
The way he has complained about having to practice and then all the hits he keeps taking I'm supprised he even wants to come back also. and I agree with you I doubt he would come back as a back up unless he's eyeing a team who only has a rookie and he might see playing time if there are injuries. I could also see him going to a team that has a huge chance of getting to the SB. Miami, San Fran I doubt he would go to. When he came out with the statement he was not ready to retire or rather I think his brother said that on a radio station I kinda thought he was willing to come back as a coach not a player. Him coming back as a QB coach would mean he's not retiring also. But I wouldn't mind the Skins picking him up if he was willing to play back up behind Beck. Thats if we don't keep Grossman. Grossman knows the scheme and system almost backwards and forwards, Favre would have quite a learning curve very similar to the problems we had with McNabb. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
Well let's be clear, he's retired as a player. If he came back as a coach, that still means he's retired... as a player.
I don't think he's coming back, as a player or a coach. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
I hope he just stays in retirement he was a great player he's too old to compete in a league with 400 pound people running after you though
|
Re: Favre watch 2011?
I'm in support of Favre being the Eagles' backup.
Vick WILL go down with injury and he'll be the man. Last year showed us that he just doesn't have it anymore. Heart can only take a QB so far and his arm is finished. It would be a beautiful disaster. |
Re: Favre watch 2011?
oh god. I have the upmost respect for Favre... But its time to pack in in. My opinion.

He's not coming back. Unless we hear different let's shut down this puppy. Plenty of other more meaningful stuff to discuss right now.
