Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
I've heard various rumors about Barry Cofield, the main one from NFLN saying he was a top target, but why? Has he ever played as a NT in his life? What have they seen to be led to believe he could fill that role for us?
According to multiple sources, Free and the Cowboys have agreed to a four-year deal worth $32 million, including $17 million guaranteed. Free will not be able to practice until Aug. 4 when the league year starts, but he will be allowed to attend meetings in San Antonio.
I'd still hate to be Tony Romo this year. |

Quite frankly, I don't think NT is that hard to PLAY. What is supposedly hard is finding a player with correct "body type" and mental mindset to play it. If Cofield can soak up blockers without losing gap integrity, then we've found a man to do the job. |

As long as he can occupy double and occasional triple teams it's all good, but I don't have a way to judge him on that considering he's been a 4-3 tackle all his life. And you are right, if he has the correct body type and right mindset it'll make it much easier, but I'm not sure he has either. We'll see I guess. |

Well, he probably would play 3-4 DE because he played that in college. But whatever position he plays, at least he isn't going to embarass himself trying to improvise ad nauseum or embellishing injuries like that egotistical nutjob of a DL we all know about. |
Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
I expect the team to address the CB situation now and then perhaps they're done with FA on the defensive side of the ball.

Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
2. The Kolb Sweepstakes: Technically speaking, the Kolb-to-Arizona trade hasn't been executed yet -- it only seems like it has. We've been anticipating Kolb becoming a Cardinal for so long now that it might feel rather anticlimactic should it happen. Arizona is looking to ship cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and a draft pick to the Eagles in exchange for the 26-year-old Kolb, and that's likely to be more enticing than anything Seattle can dangle in front of Philly.
-- And another thing: Kolb isn't the only available arm who's still young enough to build around. Don't forget about Vince Young, he of the 26-14 record as a starter in the NFL. Somebody's going to give him a second chance, and it could be Philadelphia, Miami or Buffalo. Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
Jets are serious about Nnamdi.
Seems like overkill to me to have that much $$ wrapped up in your corners. |
Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
Hell yeah bring VY here.
|
Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
Bucs drop out of NA race
|
Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
As long as Nnamdi doesn't come to the Eagles or Cowboys I'm happy. Ditto for Cullen Jenkins to the cowboys.
Speaking of Cullen..SS what have you heard? |
Re: 2011 NFL Free Agency-Part 2
Heard nothing new on Cullen

We're in competition with Denver for him. Willis McGahee, DeAngelo Williams among running backs Denver Broncos are considering - The Denver Post Also, I think the Cards will get Orton over Kolb. The asking price for an unproven Kolb (who has not impressed in his chances on the field) is just too high. He's not THAT good...at least not worth the salary he wants. |
