Poll: Who wants us to lose next week?

Its great to finish the season strong, have some momentum going into next season. Mabye even see something from our offense.

But a loss means the difference between picking as high as third in the draft, a loss mean picking as low as 13th.

Honestly at this point I dont need them to show me they can win, I'm pretty confident that changes need to be made with the offense and can wait until next year.

kingerock 12-27-2004 07:11 PM

do we even have our 1st round pick? I thought we lost it in one of our trades last season.

x44x 12-27-2004 07:18 PM

i think we have all our picks, maybe not out 2nd we gave for cooley, but i think we gave that away last draft.

SKINSnCANES 12-27-2004 07:22 PM

we have all our picks but our second.

gibbsisgod 12-27-2004 07:53 PM

As Fans I Think We All Should Be Hoping For A Win.

Gmanc711 12-27-2004 08:01 PM

Naw. I'm pretty good with losses for this year. I'll take a extra win, please.

saden1 12-27-2004 09:00 PM

We should lose the game. Drop the game and get a better draft position I say. What the fuck is a win going to do for us? Boost moral? Carry over to next season? Piff, this team needs a first round DE stud. Trade a 1'st and 3'rd rounder for him if you have to.

CROOKEDSKINS 12-27-2004 09:07 PM

I want a win.If the Rams win tonight then we could kick the vikes out of the playoffs.
6-10 isnt good but is a lil better than 5-11 for 2 years

offiss 12-28-2004 02:35 AM

Momentum for next season is the biggest bunch of garbage, the NFL doesn't want to see team's tanking it late in the year for better pick's so they throw that out to make the games sound important. We can create more momentum for next season with better player's, which inturn we need higher draft pick's to obtain that kind of talent, I want a lose on sunday which mean's Gibb's will open up the offense and start throwing the ball downfield bet the house we beat the viking's this week, especially with Bett's now starting.

Luxorreb 12-28-2004 06:19 AM

I'd love to win against the Vikes on Sunday.
If we keep them outta the playoffs atleast the game meant something.
It would be nice to get a higher pick in the draft, but as a fan I would never wish the Skins to lose a game unless for some reason it kept Dallas or Phili outta the playoffs.
Bet Gibbs goes down field for once this game. He's got nothing to lose!

MTK 12-28-2004 08:22 AM

I just can't root for a loss no matter what our record is. Even if we were 0-15 I'd be hoping we could play our most complete game of the season.

cpayne5 12-28-2004 08:39 AM

I don't want to see any of the usual whining and complaining from the people who want us to lose come Monday if we do in fact lose.

BrudLee 12-28-2004 08:53 AM

Right now I believe we have the 5th pick. The difference between the 5th and 10th pick is that two busts will be off the board by the 10th. They will try like hell to win this game, and I will be in the stands screaming like hell for them to do so. The players will do their job, Joe Gibbs will do his, and I'll do mine.

Really, the only difference between me and the players is I'll be drunk.

Redskins_P 12-28-2004 09:11 AM

If you really love your team, you always are rooting for them to win. You play to win the game. I don't care what the record is. You gotta play for pride.

wolfeskins 12-28-2004 09:18 AM

never root against the ones you love

BL they way they have played this year I don't believe there will be any difference. :laughing2

Sometimes you have to go bakward's to go forward, rooting for your team to lose isn't a bad thing it's for their own good whether they realize it now or not, the fact is your still rooting for them just not to win, this way I can root that much harder next year, we can also have a lot more fun with the draft as well. :thumb:

Besides I have been rooting for them all year to win, and did they care? NO! if you can't beat'em join them, they have been begging for it all year. :D

rickmmrr 12-28-2004 12:53 PM

Guess you really can't ask the pklayers to loose. Kinda goes against all you've been working on all year.

But a loss would be better then a win if your looking at the draft next year.

Thats straight up loser talk right there....

Daseal 12-28-2004 02:20 PM

I always want them to win. no doubt. However, there's a silver lining in a loss. Since the season is over now I think a loss would be easier to handle. I really want to see this game though, wanna see how Springs does against Moss.

saden1 12-28-2004 02:34 PM

Emotionally I want them to win. Logically, a loss makes better sense. Let’s face it, the season is over, the games don't mean anything unless you're talking about draft picks. I don't really give a damn about eliminating the Vikings from going to the playoffs. If we were talking about Philly, Giants or Dallas, that's another story.

I want my god damn stud DE!!! I want a Jason Taylor or Julius Peppers.

SkinsRock 12-28-2004 02:58 PM

Play to WIN. Period.

BIGREDSKINFAN63 12-28-2004 05:57 PM

why play the game if you do'nt plan on winning it?

saden1 12-28-2004 07:10 PM

Just like in chess you sometimes have to sacrifice a piece or two in order to win later.

offiss 12-28-2004 07:44 PM
Thats straight up loser talk right there....
It's smaaaaaaaaaaaaaart! losing this game can be the difference between winning, and losing next year, if cleveland picked before us last year we would have Winslow and no Cooley, and they would have Sean Taylor and a TE maybe Cooley, who would you rather have? I want the highest draft pick's possible, winning on sunday is for those who think with their heart not their head, winning this year is irrelevant winning next year is what count's! And higher draft pick's mean better talent, better talent mean's better team, better team mean's more win's, I want to win next year this year is done they had their chance to win this year and failed, now it's time to make like a samuri and fall on the sword. :headbange

RedskinRat 12-28-2004 07:57 PM

Win. The draft is a crap shoot anyway. This goes in the books.

Gmanc711 12-28-2004 08:01 PM

I'm so sick of losing. I'll win I dont care where we have to pick.

wolfeskins 12-28-2004 08:55 PM

the skins don't need one high $ draft pick, they need alot of low $ draft picks. the skins need to win on sunday

skinsfan0201 12-28-2004 09:57 PM

Winning

Draft picks are meaningless if we don't know how to utilize them anyhow. In addition to that there are not too many huge differences between drafting 3 or 5 th in the long run. Winning is contageous and infectious!!!!!

Skins fan 44 12-28-2004 11:39 PM

:banghead: Losing Sucks and I am tired of losing.

skinsguy 12-29-2004 12:13 AM

I'm looking forward to next season....

SmootSmack 12-29-2004 12:15 AM

I hope that Sunday is the first of many wins for the year 2005

SKINSnCANES 12-29-2004 08:26 AM

I'll be rooting for us to win, I always will. But I will be rooting for the two teams with four wins perhaps a little bit more, and wont be sad if we lose.

We can knock Minnesota out of the playoffs with a win I think, which is alwyas cool.

I dont see us drafting a top five player this year though, im sure we will trade down and try to get a few extra picks.

sportscurmudgeon 12-30-2004 02:17 PM

In a different thread, I said I hoped the Skins would beat the 49ers and the Cowboys and then lose to the Vikings. The reason was that I did not want anyone in the FO to think that this team was just one player away from greatness - because it isn't. I do not want the Skins to go on another free agent shopping spree - they will anyway - and make massive roster changes yet again - they will anyway.

Now that they are mathematically out of the playoffs and have lost to the Cowboys in about as ignominious fashion imaginable, the FO will probably realize that they are not one player away from the Lombardi Trophy and MAYBE they'll make offseason decisions based on building a long term winner instead of based on how splashy a press conference they can hold.

So, now I want them to beat the Vikings. I don't care how they do it; I just want to see them do it.

It's shocking how many people wanted to run you out on a rail for that sentiment, and how many of them are jockeying for an early pick now.

There is no discernable difference between the 3rd and tenth pick. Let me repeat myself. There is no discernable difference between the 3rd and tenth pick.

Based upon who is picking ahead of you, there is no telling who will be picked anyway. There will be quarterbacks picked too soon, and middle linebackers picked too late. Mel Kiper will have too much influence, and half the fans will be unhappy with who we pick anyway. The only thing you can count on is that there will be at least two busts picked in between 3 and 10. We may as well invest #10 pick money, rather than #3 pick money.

Daseal 12-30-2004 05:27 PM

Hell, last year there was a huge gap from 7-9 between Roy Williams (in my opinion the best receiver in the draft) and Reggie Williams to Jacksonville.

Big C 12-30-2004 05:57 PM

didnt we give up our 5th rounder for thrash

monk81 12-30-2004 08:39 PM

I'm still in pain over the Dallas game...............a win would help dull the pain, kinda sorta..............
