I love that show as well. Can't wait for the season premiere.

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Good show, can't wait.

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Hopefully Frank Darabont leaving won't kill it. Oh yeah, I'm in it btw. Okay not really, but they did film relatively close to my place.

which zombie are you? :)

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
i actually just watched the first 4 episodes this past week or so. not bad, im def going to watch the rest of season 1 and try and stick with it for season 2. i must say, switching from directv to comcast has been awesome. we didnt have on demand or dvr with directv and it was impossible to say current on shows.

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
I can't wait for the new season! I know it got a little slow towards the end of S1 (except the final episode) but I still really enjoyed it.
To me it's kind of more like what the writers of Lost claimed that show was about once it was all said and done - a character drama about people put in an extraordinary situation. Like Dirtbag said, I just hope they keep the quality up now that Darabont is out. |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
I have read all of the graphic novels up to date, long before this show was concieved as a TV show. I know the story inside and out, so if anybody has any questions or if some people just want to be spoiled, please send me a private message so i don't ruin it for anyone.
This show was easily my favorite of TV last year, and I have been stoked waiting for season 2 to arrive. This show has all the makings of a saga, and as long as the ratings continue to be so high, i see no reason why there isn't many seasons of it. As i've said before, this is a long storyline, I am sure the writers have already imagined doing 4 or 5 seasons, possibly more, there is just that much to tell. October 16 FTW!!!! |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Regarding the ending last night, I didn't see that coming.
And I'm wondering what the Dr. said to Rick before they left the CDC. |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
From the title I thought this thread was about Grossman.

re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
I have lots of friends who rave about the show. I had the day off today so I watched the 1st episode of season 1 on NetFlix today. Really good.
The first season was only 6 episodes, so I'll be up to speed quickly. |
Regarding the ending last night, I didn't see that coming.
And I'm wondering what the Dr. said to Rick before they left the CDC.
No one saw that coming. I mean we all knew that there was a scene where Rick was carrying what was likely going to be either Sofia or Carl through a field toward the farm but no one knew what was leading up to that part. They've been doing their own thing with the story as certain characters are suppose to be long gone by now. Heck Daryl Dixon was made for the TV version and has never been in the comic though ironically the author of the comic is thinking of adding him to the current story. Daryl is the hunter with the crossbow in case anyone is drawing a blank. Either way the Walking Dead is the first instance I've seen where a franchise has been able to put together such a compelling story while creating it's own version of the source material. |

So many tense moments where you don't know what's going to happen to certain characters that it's hard for me to just plow through. I don't know why but I have trouble sitting through any movie or hour long show |

I think I said this before but does anyone noticed the HD picture on Walking Dead seems very grainy?
it may be grainy on purpose to have that throwback to 60s black n white horror shows. like romero's living dead. tarantino (deathtrap movie) and others do it to. i guess im alone in thinking that season 2 episode 1 was disappointing. its like the writers are intentionally keeping the progress at a snails pace coming up with some (what i feel like) unneccesary acts like the girl running into the woods instead of to her mother, the guy deciding to tell the girl to hide instead of just easily bashing the 2 walkers heads in like he did anyhow then the long prolonged search for the girl. im guessin the girl finds something or was found by something and it will add some new human or humans and aspect to the core characters but dang man . . . episode 1 of season 2 started with their progress being stuck on the highway. ep 1 season 2 ended with them stuck on the same highway minus the girl. it was also an economical episode set/scene wise. just dont like what i feel like uneccesary things thrown into the plot/storyline that seem to have no impact or importance to the overall storyline . . .unless the girl finds or is found by new characters who join the group. then i guess her running off had a purpose and drove the storyline. |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Yeah the grainy washed out look is done on purpose. Think I read they shoot on 16mm.

Yeah I get that but it just looks dumb in this adaptation. I could see if they were remaking Night of the Living Dead but this is a modern version. Anywho just being nit picky great series otherwise. Everyone watch American Horror Story another great scary flick! |

the one thing that did bother me was he 80000000 commercials....

impressive
Funny how people freak out over 2.5 men's drop to 17 million last monday and 14 million this Monday where as Walking Dead gets critical acclaim for drawing in 7 million viewers. Granted the violent nature of the show already handicaps how many people are able to watch it but hey as long as it keeps them pumping out new episodes I'll be happy. Maybe it's just me but the zombies look a lot better this season overall save one that seemed to have barely any makeup during the highway scene. |
Network vs cable... Different animals. 7M is big for cable.
Whats the deal with that? I can understand in the 90's where if you didn't get cable on a TV you could still get the major networks of CBS, NBC, ABC, and Fox with rabit ears, however now pretty much everyone that has access to cable gets access to channels like AMC, FX, Comedy Central, MTV, USA, etc. The only place where you might not get certain cable channels like AMC would be if you were in a hotel. |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Count me in as one of the people who are now all the way back to square one regarding the storyline. I am impressed that a show can actually be independant and different of the source material. Unlike Game of Thrones, while it is an absolutley amazing show, I kept trying to tell myself that Ned Stark was gonna make it even though i knew otherwise (up until the point that the new book came out, where Ned was revealed to be "existing" still)
We look forward every sunday to TWD...and i hear this year we are going to get episodes all the way through November, and then the show takes a break and comes back in February to finish up. So that makes it kind of nice, only having to wait 6 months at the end of the season before a new season comes out... |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Really love the show.
|
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
I enjoyed this second episode, really keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole series.
Here is one other thing that annoys me about this show and well basically all "end of world" shows. How do guys keeps keep their bread and hair so short? |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
really liked epis 2. glad there was a new infusion of characters.

One thing that annoys me about ep 2 is that the house the vet lives in is not board up or some sort of security against the undead. Really with those things walking around you just leave your house as business as usually? My house would be looking like something from Night of the Living Dead. |

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. How can that place not be more fortified? Episode 2 was really good. So ballsy that they went after those medical supplies at the overrun hospital. Crazy scene. |

That's 3 months, right? And you're saying it's going to be a total of 3 seasons? I suppose that makes sense. You can't really run a show with this kind of plot-line for more than a few seasons. |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
yup i was wondering how the heck that house wasnt boarded up. they guy elvis or otis (the fat guy) is out shooting his gun in the woods, driving that old loud truck . . .
i think during the conversation with the sheriff dad guy and hershel out on the porch they may have touched on it. hershel said something like they were basically untouched then said he lost his wife and a few other people to the epidemic. im not sure if when he said "untouched" he meant the area they were in didnt have alot or any walkers. which would make sense. if you live way out in the sticks with noone around then there isnt anyone to turn into walkers . . except your own family which you could just monitor and kill when they start to turn |

They got that farm house set up like they are ready to film a fawking Bob Evans commercial. The producers/writers (who ever) definitly messed that up. |

The way the show has gone thus far, it's hard to imagine that house not getting overrun sooner rather than later. Also, maybe they've got a trick up their sleeve that we don't know about- i.e. and underground shelter/bunker sort of deal where they hole up at night. |

In order to have great horror the monster must have rules IMO. Like the rules that apply to vampires or even the Freddy rules (speaking of the first few before it just got silly). I think I like WD more because of the story lines between the characters more then the actually horror. |

Am I the only one who is wanting more zombies and less dialogue right now?
I DEFINITELY understand the need for character development, but it's getting a little slow these past few episodes. The previews for next week looked pretty bad ass though. |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Interesting and sad read about WD.
‘The Walking Dead’: Why Frank Darabont Was Fired & The Chaotic Aftermath | Screen Rant I will have to say last nights episode(11/6) was pretty boring and to spend have the show trying to pull out that dumb zombie was lame. Also at the end of season one didn't we know she was preggo already? |
re: The Walking Dead thread (spoiler alert, read at your own risk)
Like the show but here's my issue's.....
The guy on the loud Harley? WTF? he might as well signal all the dead to where he is. The fat guy and cop going to the medical suppy trailer and being chased by zombies last week, then this week the farmer girl says...."I'll just go into town again and get some medical supplies like I did last time." < when asked about zombies she says "no there are none where I'm going." So... why didn't weren't the cop and fat guy directed to go there for supplies? As others have said the old house really looks to be protected from zombies well. lol. At some point wouldn't you think the old guy with the camper would maybe look for an upgrade? he's got some 70's style camper and has free run to take any brand new camper from any camper site, highway, or sales place. |

I don't know if you've been under anesthesia but when you go under you stop breathing hence the need for the respirator. The only one they knew of was at the local high school where the emergency FEMA station was set up with surgical supplies. Glenn and Maggie on the other hand went to the pharmacy to get antibiotics, aspirin, bandages, and other basic medical supplies that you can find at any pharmacy. The part that didn't make sense to me was why Otis was shot in the leg and not the head. Granted a screaming victim makes better bait but the hanging zombie also proved that zombies only care that the body isn't infected. Either way Shane is slowly becoming more and more psychopathic. |
