What to do with Buchannon?
So, Buchannon is eligible to rejoin the team today. We have up through next Monday to make a decision. Is he worth adding to the roster at the expense of one of our other DBs? To me, the answer is no. Thompson would be the obvious man out at CB, but I think he's showed too much promise to chance moving him to the practice squad I think the more important question would be, "is buchannon one of our best 53 players." While I think he is, I also can't think of anyone else on our roster i'd cut to make room for him. The next area we could look to cut someone is wide receiver, since we've got 7 of them already (Banks is not a receiver), but we kept all of those guys for a reason and nothings changed with any of them to make me think we should cut ties with one of them for Buchannon. Unless someone like Young or Armstrong is more injured than we know (IR-worthy), i honestly cant see us bringing buchannon back. What do you guys think?

Re: What to do with Buchannon?
If he's healthy I think you've gotta find a spot for him.
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
I think Shanny was saying he was uncertain if there are any restrictions to bringing him on the 53 immediately.
From my understanding, he is good to go for Philly. Right? |
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Need the experience in the secondary, find a spot.
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
We should cut Cooley.

Re: What to do with Buchannon?
I think someone else had said it, but I think Mike Sellers gets ungloriously released. Which is a shame for all he has done.
There are only 2 reasons why CC would be getting so much time at FB: 1) showcase him for possible trade bait (if the trade deadline hasn't passed - which I don't think it has) or 2) make sure he is capable of stepping in when DY isn't available. I think he has shown that he is. Ultimately Buchanon needs a spot on the roster, even though our CB's have done ok, he is a polished veteran and will be an improvement on an already good D. If Sellers is let go that would be an understandable move, but a shame nonetheless. |

Re: What to do with Buchannon?
You have to find a spot for Buck. Plus he returns punts/kicks, no? I think Sellers or Stallworth could be the odd man out.
Probably Sellers since Cooley has been getting reps at HB and FB. |
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Yeah I would think Sellers could be a candidate. Haven't even noticed him on the field lately.
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
I can't see Buchanon not getting on the roster unless they really think that shoulder isn't going to heal anytime soon. If he's almost healthy, he's got to be out there. I know Westbrook & Thompson play teams, but neither is as valuable as PB to the D.
I think it's either of those guys or Stallworth. Don't see Sellers being let go w/Young having been hurt & out the last 2 games. |

Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Its gonna be either sellars or banks. Banks has not shown one bit of reason why he should be kept on an NFL roster. Returning a couple kicks to the 23 yard line, and a couple negative punt returns do not a 53 man roster make. Scooch over Banks. Plenty of capable return men on this squad, who could prolly outdo his production thusfar.
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Probably Sellers. It's pretty sad when you're supposed to be a backup fullback and you can't get on the field when the starting fullback goes down. Yes it'll probably be an unglorious release, but so be it. I appreciate everything he's done for us over the years but all good things must come to an end.

Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Buchannon is definetly coming back. Im going with either Sellers, Banks, or Westbrook in that order. And ill add Hankerson just because i think we can get away with adding him to our PS, the guy just isnt read to play for us or any other team.
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Sellers would be my guess.

-Release Donte Stallworth -Move Brandyn Thompson from a 46-man core player to a 53-man healthy inactive. There's no way PB isn't one of our three best corners. He's probably the second best after Wilson. On one hand, Barnes needs time to develop. But on the other, he's been Kareem Moore-level dreadful. |
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
I am dissappointed with banks so far. so I guess buchanon can take his spot for now as a kick/punt returner as well as a solid backup for our secondary
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Stallworth or Sellers would be my move.. Stallworth has been inactive for 2 games, he was only up Sunday because Armstrong was hurt and he didn't have any targets (that I recall) and Sellers has ST value but that's all at this point.
PB comes in ahead of Barnes I'd have to think. Is it me or is he the stiffest 'skill position' runner we have? Doughty looks more fluid than Barnes! |
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
To answer the question, one thing that we can do with Buchanon is to spell his name correctly.
After that, I agree with those who say that he needs to get on to the field and Sellers likely looks for a new job. |

Good point. Banks has been pretty horrible in the return game. Since that's his only job, let NP take over and roll from there. |

LOVE Big Mike....but it's time. Even talking about cutting Cooley should get a forcible relocation to the drunk thread.....

P.Buc is our 3rd best CB and we need him. A big example of why he's important to this team is against Arizona when we had 2 DB's go down.. It looked bad out there with the young bucks. |

Gtripp, off topic and kinda random, but are you sporting a Patrick Ramsey avatar?

Stallworth will be cut long before Hankerson ever goes to the practice squad. I think we should slow our role on the Hankerson being cut talk, they're not gonna cut a 3rd round rookie wideout 4 games into his rookie season just because he hasn't seen the field yet. |

The only "honest mistake" about is that he got caught. |

I wouldn't cut Hankerson either. We've got much better options than that. |
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Stallworth or Sellers cut...PB will be a welcome addition to the Nickle corner. Vet Secondary depth is always a positive.
|
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
Hankerson should be playing. As should Austin. With Armstrong out, the only four pro receivers we have on this team are Moss, Gaffney, Austin, and then Hankerson.
If you gave Brandon Banks all of Stallworth's offensive reps, he'd do the job just as well. Which is to say: not very. |
Re: What to do with Buchannon?
I still don't understand why we kept Stallworth. Trade bait after a few weeks and injuries?
