Gano might be most critical component. |

I think 3-1 is a great start and if we beat the eagles next week I'd say we will win 10 games minimum

We have no chance to beat the Eagles. They are the Dream Team. ;) |

Lol, can't trust this team though -- games that the Skins should win, we find ways to give it away so hopefully they won't underestimate the Eagles and play to win the whole game. |

I don't really like a week 4 bye

Re: Redskins Bye Week
I can see this defense getting better and better as Atogwe and Landry get more playing time together. :headbange

Thank goodness we have a week 5 bye! Butyeah I agree, I like having our bye in the middle of the season vs. early. |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Its like spring break for the NFL.
I wonder if all the Redskins are in Panama City getting drunk on the beach. |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
I was going to post this in the Cooley thread but I see that got blown up. Oh well the rivalry continues...
Thom Loverro: Redskins-Cowboys rivalry never takes a break | Thom Loverro | NFL | Washington Examiner "I will never make an apology to any offended Dallas fans, and I expect every Redskin fan to cheer at the folly of a Cowboy," he wrote on his blog, "The Cooley Zone," calling his comments "rivalry igniting." - Cooley The rivalry has been so dormant between the two teams -- not the fans -- for so long that people aren't used to anyone in either uniform caring enough to ignite it. There was a time when such comments were standard operating procedure between the Redskins and Cowboys -- and sometimes those comments would result in bizarre on-field incidents. The difference is those incidents would not go viral. |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Speaking of the bye week, how are you guys spending the day tomorrow? It's gonna be gorgeous here in the DC area. I'm gonna go for a run with the wife and probably hit the gym afterwards. My little brother is in town and it's his birthday, so I'm gonna take him out to dinner. Probably won't watch much football until the GB-Atl game at night.
|
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Church - Eagles/Bills 1PM EST. - Dinner - GB/ATL Night Game - Sleep when possible in between.
|
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Working 12-4, then hitting the gym for a light workout until it closes at 6, make some dinner, then catch GB-Hotlanta.
|
Re: Redskins Bye Week
I am sitting on my ass all day watching pigskin. I have 24 hour duty tomorrow............

Sounds like a pretty good day planned. Doing some bicycling, weight lifting, cleaning house and watching football. |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Did not want to create a new thread for these two thoughts and did not really see anywhere else to post these, one is appropriate for this thread and one if off topic.
1) Though I hate week 4 bye weeks it actually worked out very well for us. First we did not play and gained sole possession of first place (without tie breakers) and we are going to be well rested and healthier going into a very important divisional game against a beat up Iggles team. 2) I was wondering if we switch Orakpo and Kerrigan around this weekend. This would get Orakpo coming from Vicks blind side and force Vick to throw into a rushing Kerrigan who seems to play with his hands up better than Orakpo, even though they are both 6'4'' it just seems like he is better at altering/batting down throws. Just two thoughts |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Best bye week ever! Eagles suffer a loss for the 4th straight game in an ugly manner and the Giants get their asses handed to them in the final minutes of the game by the Seahawks.
Two division foes go down in heart breakers two weeks in a row...priceless. |

We decided to go down to Nags Head for the weekend and it was great. The wind was kicking but this time of year you can drive out on the beach soe we just parked so the truck blocked the wind. This must have been the wedding week because we watch 3 weddings on the beach this weekend. The water is still in the 70's so I could enjoy a cool dip after a few cool beers. I did catch the 2nd half of the VT game while eating dinner. The wife loves nothing more then going out to dinners as a family and having me watch football the entire time. |

I actually just got engaged and one of the things I made her agree to were that she never try to plan anything during a NFL Sunday and I get to watch Notre Dame games no matter what. Luckily she is a skins fan and I am slowly turning her into a a ND fan! |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
This upcoming week is going to be a crucial point for the Redskins and their status within the NFC East. I really hope they play with a sense of urgency and that they play well, because given some of the matchups a lot is at stake.
The Redskins are going to be playing a winnable game against an Eagles team that is in disarray. A convincing win against a divisional opponent will keep us in first place in the East. Both the Giants and the Cowgirls are playing tough games next week. The Giants are hosting the Buffalo Bills, and the Cowpukes are playing the Pats at Foxboro. IF everything goes our way, at the end of week 7 we could be looking at the following standings: Redskins 4-1 Giants 3-3 Cowgirls 2-3 Iggles 1-5 It's time for MS to work his coaching magic. HTTR! |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
I just hope the coaches spend this week showing the team replays of last year. Over and over and over again.
|
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Big game coming up, and I agree with BB. Gotta show that MNF blowout anytime a player even starts to think that they are 1-4. The iggles are down to their last gasp, and the Skins of the last 10 years haven't known how to deliver a knockout punch. I am hoping we see another sign that this team is evolving into a class of the NFC team. Going to be a hard game to win though. (Although I will take MS and KS against a first year DC any day!)

Re: Redskins Bye Week
over at cowboys zone they have a poll about beating the Pats. Think a fan base might be a little humble/nervous about facing the Patriots in their house? Nah... 169 votes that dallas will beat the pats, and 73 that they will lose. Can you say Wow?!?
|
Re: Redskins Bye Week
I think we are catching the Iggles at a great time. Mentally, they looked drained...coaching staff and players.
Iggles may be easier to run the ball against than the Rams. Their safeties and LBs are very poor tacklers...Torain's run style should thrive against those guys. |

Re: Redskins Bye Week
Wouldn't be surprised to see Torain start this week vs. Philly. We need to punch them in the mouth on the first drive.

Re: Redskins Bye Week
Shanahan is 10-5 after the bye. As this article,What the Results of the Washington Redskins Bye Week Mean | Redskins 101, points out - one of those losses came against Philly last year, but that was right in the midst of turmoil.
This year, with 1 full week to sit down over dinner with Kyle and Haslett, and a pretty stable cast of characters, I expect that MS will have this team prepped and ready for the iggles. I will say that I am glad it is a 1 o'clock game, and that it is at FedEx, and it wouldn't hurt my feelings if Trent Cole is still out, but regardless, I expect the Skins to come out and win it. The only caveat to that is they need to guard against early big plays. The Eagles certainly know how to win once they have a good lead, and they can pin back their defense's ears. Therefore, Haslett NEEDS to understand, like the first meeting last year, make the Eagles go the full distance every team. Make them have to get 1st down after 1st down, to sustain their drives. If we do that, I think we can have a great Sunday! |

Plus it's a government holiday, so all the WPers that spend the day on here at government work (as opposed to people like me who spend the day on here at private sector work LOL) are missing! |
Re: Redskins Bye Week
This stinks of a let-down game -- hope that the Redskins don't buy into the hype and underestimate an Eagles team that is going to approach this like a must-win, playoff type game.
|
Re: Redskins Bye Week
Yeah the DC Area is dead today, because of the holiday. I went to one of my favorite lunch spots and line/wait was about half. No one on the roads either.
