Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
Ok guys...
I think it's finally time for a protest. NO ONE should spend hard-earned money to watch THIS franchise. Highest priced tickets in the league for what??? To watch QBs that wouldn't start for any other team in the league.. to watch a running back (Torain) who wouldn't play for any other team, run for -1 yards every stretch run play (while we have a young, exciting rookie watching from the bench)... a defense that is HORRIBLE when you need them most... and a kicker that you will NEVER be able to count on. It's time to DO something! Who's with me!!??!?! lol |

Don't forget your sandals and your bong.

Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
How 'bout you go occupy something other than a keyboard for a while...
Yeah, we are 3-7 but I would still argue that this franchise is headed in the right direction. |

About Torain, thats on Shanasucks, why he keeps going back to him is just bad coaching.Im so sick of that dude. Your exactly right on Gano, just when u think hes turned the corner he takes a step back Shanasucks ought to know better then to try and ice the kicker, once again another bad coaching descision.Every kicker in the league will tell you they hope you call timeout.Cowboys were hurrying and the clock looked like it hit zero to me,I cant do anything but shake my head |

Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
Dude, you're picking the wrong loss to start a movement. The team showed as much heart as they have all year. Grossman played great. The receivers made plays. There were a lot of positives for the first time in a month. Count me out of your "occupation".

Because he blew the game!! Yes we have other needs namely a qb,but your underestimating how important a good kicker is,which gano is not.Ive been a Gano supporter, but I cant do it anymore.Im not saying cut him now,but we need another kicker next yr. Dallas kicker has made 23 in a row,has Gano ever made more then 2 in a row? |

Get in better field position so you don't have to put the game on your already inconsistent kicker. |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
You've also failed to mention that Dallas' kicker has only made 1 kick of 50+ yards.
|
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
This all will be forgotten next year when we draft our franchise QB of the future.

He also hasn't missed since week 2. Longest streak in the NFL, and he's a rookie no less. I've been on Gano's side for a long time, but I'm not any more. He just misses too much. But the loss isn't squarely on him. |

See. That's what I'm saying Scud. I'm not a Gano sympathizer. The guy is totally inconsistent and I won't be sad to see him go. But there were other low points of this game and where this game could've been incredibly different. But people like to point out the obvious and not dig a bit deeper. Bleh. I'm over it. |

How come so few people are able to recognize this? :smashfrea |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
I find it awfully hard to blame the kicker when as a team we've played like utter crap for weeks now.

Yeah, but how many kicks has gano missed inside 40? More than any in the NFL. I can't understand how people keep making excuses for this guy. He missed a 40 yarder that in reality would have won the game today. He missed a ton of kicks last year, missed a ton of kicks this year. He needs to be released. It makes no sense. He is the worst in the league....I could come in and kick and I he would be no better than me. think about that for minute. the worst kicker in the NFL. WE can't do better than that?? |

Bleh. I'm over it.
Gano is the only thing that sticks out in this game. Fact is he makes the 40 yarder we win in regulation. |

Definitely. You've got bigger problems to worry about if you're blaming a loss on a kicker. |

He missed from 49 yards. It was a 40 yard one he made. Again. You're asking your inconsistent kicker to make long FGs. Yes. Some kickers can make those kicks. Good kickers DO make those kicks. We don't have one of those. Thus meaning, we need to do something where we don't put him in position to have to send him out there and play russian roulette. |

shut it

Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
this team showed more heart and soul today than I could have hope for .... that was a HELL of a game .. we had a chance to win .. and yeah we could have won for SURE .. but all these morons saying we aren't building & going in the right direction are ignorant ... Riley over Rocky, making best plays .. Rex looked GREAT ... Helu will get better, Hightower will be back ... Moss, Hankerson, Gaffney, Davis, Cooley ..... but we are 3-7 so the good news is we have heart and we are building ... next year we draft Griffin III or Barkley ... and let's roll ... tough loss .. i'm drunk .. good night

Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
This feels like deja vu from 2009. Difference is, I feel like this team, with a few more pieces, will be headed in the right direction whereas that 2009 team simply sucked hard.
|
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
I think once the "super" committee fails and automatic budget cuts will be enforced, maybe a lot of these future ex govt employees won't have as much spending $$$$$$$ and then you will see Snyder a tad worried. The very reason you have the situation is the fact that Skinsland is DCland, which is the Fed govt, which is the only growth industry in the country for the past decade. Once the Feds have to bite the bullet, the "govt bubble" will start to deflate. In reality, it needs to burst. Skins fans that actually attend the games are probably mostly mid to low level govt employees, contractors, or lobbyists. So much money coming in, they can afford the outrageous prices.

Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
awful thread. the team played one of it's best games of the year. yeah there were mistakes, this isn't a good team so i'm not sure what any of you are thinking. dallas is a better team but i applaud the effort.

Agreed. Back then it felt like bottom of the barrel with no light at the end of the tunnel. This time around it feels different. Another good draft, and a big upgrade at QB, and I think we're on our way. |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
Since DC is the US capital and is indeed the Federal Govt, you automatically have a distorted market since all of that federal revenue coming in props up the DC area, even when the rest of the nation is suffering. Snyder as I have said lots of times before is a frigging genius. He can make loads of $$$$$$$ even when his team is losing badly, since the fans are all high on the hog since most of them feed from the federal trough. William Clay Ford was called the worst NFL owner in Forbes magazine since his franchise lost money last season. Why? Autoworkers are out of work and can't see a game anymore.

Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
Why do we have to occupy anything? Last there was major change someone bought a road sign.

I didnt mention because I didnt know it,and I dont see how its relevant anyway. Its not like he was 1 of 5 over 50,hes one of 2 and made 24 in a row. When Gano makes 10 in a row I'll be shocked |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
OK, went out to run errands for a while...
I guess I should point out the "lol" at the end of the original post. This was a "tongue-in-cheek" thread pointing out everything that is so frustrating about this team right now. I did leave out the fact that we don't have cornerbacks we can count on either... lol It was fun for a while watching the game, but again, when you see the same mistakes over and over and over... (see Torain Stretch Play, Gano in the clutch, D. Hall's coverage on 3 & 15+ and the game on the line vs Dallas, etc) it sucks. It's even more infuriating when it's vs Dallas... at home... and we are now 1-7 vs them over the last 8. |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
Somebody needs to drum up the Rex Grossman BAN HIM picture.

Its relevant because unlike in Dallas, you're asking a bad kicker to kick from 50+ yards. Yet again, my point is, we've got to work with the hand we've been dealt. Gano is obviously shaky with anything around 45+ Under that, if he misses, he SHOULD be royally kicking himself. An NFL caliber kicker needs to make those and he doesn't even do that regularly. So you expect him to make something longer than 50+ with the game on the line? Please. You're playing a game of chance at that point. We need to get Gano in better field position I'd say anything within 45 yards and even at that I don't feel safe. Under 40 yards should be money, but he even misses those at times. But if everyone wanted to put him on the cross at that point, I'd completely be backing you up. So saying bad kicker is bad when he's kicking from 50+ yards considering how hot and cold he's been throughout his entire career seems a bit obvious, don't you think? |

Im not blaming this loss solely on gano but the simple fact is he makes those 2 very makeable kicks we win! He's shown us he can do it by nailing the 59 yarder at home,so whats shanahan sposed to do? Its not like it was out of his range, but like YOU SAID,we cant even trust him to make a 40 yarder, thats why he has to go and he's the goat.Again, not blaming him solely for this loss and just because we have other needs doesnt mean we should let gano have a free pass which it seems you want to do |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
As far as the Occupy Landover movement goes, I'm actually not on board, and here's why:
I believe the Skins are moving in the right direction. I know that sounds crazy, but for years I have been a critic of the way in which the FO runs this team. But lately it looks as though they have taken a different approach: building the team through the dract, eschewing burdomsome and stupid pricey free agent signings, cutting ties with bad locker room personalities. This is a rebuilding process and it is going to be hard and it is going to be painful, but it is exactly what many of us (critics of Snyder & Co.) have been asking for for years. I don't mind losing as much if I think the team has a plan, and I do believe we do. |

And why the hell didn't Rex throw the ball away on that play before the FG instead of losing a couple of yards? Dumb play. |
Re: Time for an "OCCUPY LANDOVER" Movement
Actually the Pat's have the higest ticket prices and we come in second. Our tickets are only a few bucks over other teams and I'm guessing the price is inflated for the large number of luxury seats we have. I would love to see them do away with them and with the low ticket sales we may see that happen.
They're up: NFL tickets to cost about 5% more this season - Sep. 8, 2004 Sorry that link is old. I can't find a list but I did read that the Pats, Dallas, and NY are at the top of the list. |
