RGIII Heisman Winner

So RGIII takes the Heisman. Does this raise his stock in the draft putting him into consideration for number 1? Could Luck be on our side and drop to us?

Doesn't matter... I would be thrilled with either one..

Re: RGIII Heisman Winner

Congratulations RG3. Not sure if his stock can get any higher but, for the Skins to snag either him or Luck would be a blessing. I say the team needs to prepare to make a move up the board to draft one of the two if they are not already in a position to draft either.

I noticed all the former winners on stage prior to the announcement. One thing stood out......

None are currently in the NFL and there were a lot of QB's on that stage that are not preparing for a game tomorrow.

Stock shmock. No guarantees on any of them.

Mmmm, ok. I know what you mean but, people have to know that it's unlikely that Luck and RG3 won't be drafted #1 and #2 overall.

sandtrapjack 12-10-2011 10:24 PM

Just saying the Heisman should not be as big a measuring stick as it used to be. Seems to be more Heisman busts in & out of the NFL in the most recent decade.

Just saying, grade the player and not the brass.

Nah, what this is going to do is catapult him ahead of Barkley as the 2nd QB drafted. I'll be happy with him or Barkley, can't wait until we finally get a franchise QB.

Was Cam Newton up there? Sorry man, winning the Heisman doesn't lower RG3's stock for me in any way. I would take him or Luck in a heartbeat.

Re: RGIII Heisman Winner

I would almost be more excited about him than Luck. Don't get me wrong, I think Luck is going to be an outstanding NFL QB, but after seeing all the articles and interviews with Griffin leading up to the Heisman I think he will be something special. In my opinion intelligence is more important than physical skills in terms of being a QB, but Griffin has both in spades.

RGIII by a mile. I would rather see us take a chance on someone that could be incredibly special than using a pick on a QB that's surrounded by first round talent from a program that has a history of producing QB's with overrated NFL potential.

Yeah sorry but I'm not sold on USC Qbs , Leinart SUCKS, Palmer was Good but not great and Sanchez is about to get ran out of NY.

Very true and understandable. However, Leinart, Palmer, and especially Sanchez weren't being looked at as college QB's when they were in 8th Grade like Barkley was. Also Barkley took over as a True Freshman, beat out a highly rated Senior in Aaron Corp, and took USC with the fewest talent it had in years, to Columbus Ohio to beat Ohio State in a 2 minute drive to end the game. He's only gotten better, and he puts up great numbers against the pac 12. The difference off the bat between him, Leinart, and Sanchez, is that Matt always had great players around him with a weak arm. Barkley has a strong arm and has played with bad and great players, yet is consistent with whomever. Sanchez only played one year at USC with some good players. Barkley has been playing and starting for 3 straight years. Palmer on the other hand was a great player in college, and was starting to become great until he tore his ACL in that playoff game, and wasn't the same since.

Lmao..

Or

Re: RGIII Heisman Winner

Winning the Heisman doesn't mean squat when making it to the pro's. Does the name Archie Griffin rings a bell? Most great QB's in this league never won a Heisman (Montana, Brady, Manning, Rodgers, Favre) some did (Testaverde, Wuerfell, Leinart, Detmer, Weinke, Crouch, Troy Smith, Palmer, Tebow, Bradford, Charlie Ward, Torreta, Plunkett, Newton) so to me it means nothing, to be honest I rather have them not win it, it's like a curse.

I've never seen a Heisman trophy increase a QB's stock. If anything it only seems to hurt it, if for nothing more then increased scrutiny.

I understand and partially agree with what you're saying but this hasn't been the case lately. If Tim Tebow never would of won the Heisman ESPN and everyone else wouldn't have sensationalized him to the degree that they did. The same can be said for Matt Leinert. No way would he would of been a top 10 pick if he didn't win the Heisman. Now that the media has gone into hype overdrive Robert Griffin will be the most talked about pick next to Luck, infact this whole draft season will be comparing the 2 non-stop and everyone will give their opinions as to who should draft who and why. It's going to be the lead in story for months to come just you wait.

Re: RGIII Heisman Winner

Let me start by saying that RG3 deserved this more than any other player in college football. Do I think his stock is going to rise because of it? I would absolutely not. Scouts and GMs are going to grade this guy based solely on his skill set. His stock is going to rise in the combine.

Palmer could have been a better QB if the Steelers had not taken him out during the playoffs a couple of seasons ago. Dont think he was the same after that knee injury.

Re: RGIII Heisman Winner

RGIII is an improved version of Jake Locker.

Barkley is an improved version of Mark Sanchez.

Either one of those quarterbacks make us a much better team. All things being equal I want RGIII because he has the higher ceiling and it would be awesome to have such an exciting player on our team. I'm look forward to 2012 season. I'm thinking we have a shot at the playoffs.

Some team has to wake up and smell the coffee and realize there's more of sure thing drafting an OT or CB with either of those picks. I think the only way they go back to back is because of a trade.

Barkley is heads above Sanchez. Everyone knocks on Sanchez but he wins when has to. I'd take Sanchez in a heart beat.

Not even close. Look at Sanchez record during the season and playoffs.

skinsfaninok 12-11-2011 08:56 PM

We are talking overall player not record.. JC was on a shit team his whole career mark has a loaded roster to work with Huge difference. Sanchez will never lead a team to a SB win he's a better Rex grossman that's it

I'll take that bet. His numbers have improved every year, last year in the playoffs he was great, remember he's in his 3rd year with no training camp.

skinsfaninok 12-11-2011 09:05 PM

Weak arm and avg at best career numbers, he wasn't worth his draft pick, yeah he's won as a starter but so has Rex big deal. I'd take 15 QBs in the league today over him

Just curious, who would you take? Manning, Brees, Brady, etc. don't count.
